“Because within this pitch black darkness
You are shining so brightly”
“How are you feeling Tae?” Jungkook asked. Taehyung was now back in his room after days of recovering, and was feeling more like himself again.
“Even better now that you’re here,” he smiled. Taehyung was still feeling weak and drained, but having Jungkook by his side meant everything to him. Even when he was supposed to be working he’d drop in and steal kisses just because.
“Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I am the best medicine for you,” Jungkook grinned. “I’ll be back okay? I’m gonna finish cleaning, then I’ll come and check on you,” Jungkook said as he stole one more kiss. Jungkook didn’t want to go back to working, but at the same time he was happy that at least Taehyung was just closer to him, than being in a different part of the hospital.
As Jungkook was cleaning he kept going back to the third hall, just to peek in on Taehyung to make sure all was still good. He was now mopping the floor, with his headphones on as he danced down the hall with mop in hand. He didn’t see Jimin down the hall with a small smile tugging at the side of his lips.
Jimin walked up to Jungkook and waved his hand in front of the dancing janitor, “Hello, Jungkook!”
Jungkook stopped and blushed being caught dancing. “Hey Jimin, what’s up?”
“Having fun?” Jimin teased.
“I was, yeah…just happy still to have Tae back.”
Jimin clamped his lips together and studied Jungkook’s face, “Do you really like him that much?”
Jungkook nodded, “I love him.”
Jimin nodded like he understood, “But why? I mean, you can have anyone that’s you know, normal. Why him?”
Jungkook shrugged, “I guess he’s someone I learned and grew to love. I just love everything about him, and who he is.”
“Right,” Jimin said clicking his tongue. “Well, good for you both. I’ll see you around then.”
Jungkook waved Jimin goodbye and went back to cleaning, sticking his headphones back into his ears. He smiled as Jimin walked away. He was glad Jimin was being cool with him now, and did nothing to break him or Taehyung apart. Jungkook was happy with the whole staff, and how supportive they were for them, and he couldn’t ask for a better family.
A few days later Jimin walks up Jungkook and tells him, “Hey, want to do something for Taehyung?”
Jungkook’s ears perk up at the sound of it as he was cleaning. “What?”
“If you want…you can take him out for the night, just for a few hours. Let him see the town and all that good stuff. I can cover for you as long as you bring him back before sunrise.”
Jungkook stared at Jimin, “Are you sure that’s a good idea? I don’t want him to freak out of anything if we go out.”
“I’ll give you something for him. Just take him out to have a good time, don’t you want to?”
Jungkook wasn’t too sure of it, but he looked at Taehyung who was sitting on the floor playing with Abby smiling. He looked at him and said, “Hey Tae? Do you want to go out for a drive with me?”
Taehyung sat up and looked up at him, “Can we? Won’t you get in trouble?”
Jimin smiled, “I’ll cover for you both. I just want you to enjoy the night out.”
Taehyung smiled brightly, “Let’s do it Kookie! We can see lights and go to your house!”
“My house?” Jungkook asked, then saw a mischievous smile on his lips. Jungkook shyly shook his head, then looked back to Jimin, “I guess it would be okay, we could do stuff together, but how will I sneak Taehyung out?”
“In the fourth hall there is a old room that used to be for the staff, you’ve seen it right?”
Jungkook nodded, “I clean it sometimes.”
“Well then you’ve noticed an exit door right?”
Again Jungkook nodded. He never used it because he would have to walk all the way to the first hall to clock out, and didn’t want the hassle of walking all the way back to the fourth hall just to exit.
“Use that door tonight, then bring him back. Like I said, i’ll cover for you. Besides no one bothers you both anyways, unless something happens, but I’ll give you something for Taehyung.
Jungkook gulped, “Exactly what will you give me?”
“A needle. Just stick it in arm, and that’s it.”
“I’m not trained or licensed to do that though, couldn’t I get in trouble? Not to mention, so will you.” Jungkook didn’t know why Jimin would sacrifice his own job for him. Heck, even Jungkook was risking it, but he didn’t think he would get caught, especially with Jimin’s help. Jungkook looked at Taehyung and said, “I’ll try not to poke you, so please try to be calm okay? I don’t want nothing to happen to you.”
“I promise I’ll try,” Taehyung told him giving him a sharp salute. Taehyung was excited to go out with Jungkook, he’s forgotton what the world was like.
“You have to promise me not to get me involved in this mess, that’s the deal,” Jimin said.
Jungkook was hesitating, not sure if this really was a good idea, but looking at Taehyung’s cute excited face, made him sway. “Okay, deal.”
Jimin smiled, “Good, you can leave now if you want. Just remember to bring him back before sunrise.” Jimin took out a needle that had liquid already inside of it handed it over to Jungkook. “Just in case.”
Jungkook stared at the long covered needle, then looked at Taehyung who frowned at the sight of it. Jungkook placed it inside his work pants and smiled at Taehyung, “Let’s go.”
Taehyung jumped on the spot, and that’s when Jungkook looked down to the boy’s bare feet. “I have slippers in my trunk that you could wear, okay?” Taehyung nodded happily clinging to Jungkook’s arm, getting cozy with it.
“I’ll be back Jimin. Uh, here’s my badge,” Jungkook says handing it over to the nurse. “Clock me out at 2 a.m, and I’ll text you when I’m out back, if you could give it back once I drop off Taehyung.
Jimin waved the card, “No problem! Have fun!”
__
Jungkook grabbed an old jacket that was left hanging in the cramped up room and helped Taehyung put it on. “I don’t have a hat to cover you up more, but um..it should dead outside.” Jungkook opened the door and looked outside to make sure that no one was outside, the coast was clear. Jungkook was tempted just carry Taehyung in case anything sharp was on the floor, but carrying him would bring attention to anyone who walks outside. “Be careful, you have no shoes on.”
“I will.” Taehyung gripped Jungkook’s hand and looked around outside as well. Taehyung was now smiling brightly with a little bit of nerves coursing through his body from the thrill. He didn’t know what to expect from the outside world, he was curious to see if things changed in a few years. Taehyung grinned when he saw Jungkook’s car, “It’s small and cute.”
Jungkook smirked and opened the passenger side, ‘That’s not what she said.”
Taehyung looked at him confused, “What? Who’s she? What did she say?”
Jungkook chuckled, “Nothing, it was a joke.”
Taehyung just looked at him trying to figure it out…
“Get in the car before someone sees you,” Jungkook told him, still amused by his innocence.
Taehyung sat in his car and looked around, liking the car very much. He looked at Jungkook pop open his trunk and came back with slippers, handing them to him. He then got into the driver’s seat and adjusted himself to get comfortable. “Seat belt,” Jungkook said, helping Taehyung put on his belt. “I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
Taehyung smiled and kissed his cheek, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, let’s go eat. Are you hungry?” Jungkook asked starting the car.
“Very! I miss eating fast food! I want a big fat burger with a lot of fries and a chocolate milkshake with a dessert on the side and I wan-“
“-I didn’t say empty my wallet,” Jungkook joked.
“Sorry! I didn’t know you didn’t have money!” Taehyung felt bad for asking for all that stuff, he should’ve just apprectiated what Jungkook was doing for him, instead of asking for a whole lot.
Jungkook laughed, “I do have money, I was just joking Tae…eat up, please.”
“Ahhh, thank you Kookie…I think I need to learn your jokes more, I don’t understand them. Want to hear a joke I heard when I was little?”
Jungkook nodded, waiting already, wearing a smile on his lips.
“Say winnie the pooh backwards.”
Jungkook thought about it and said, “Pooh the win-” He smiled and glanced at Taehyung, “That was funny.”
Want to hear another one? Taehyung felt boosted to tell on more hoping this time he will really laugh.
“Sure, knock me out.”
“I don’t want to hurt you…” Taehyung couldn’t believe what Jungkook just told him to do. “I said tell you a joke…not hurt you.”
Jungkook laughed, “Taeee, that’s not what I meant, just tell me the joke.”
“Oh okay! Scared me there. Okay, back to my joke. Three guys stranded on a desert island find a magic lantern containing a genie, who grants them each one wish. The first guy wishes he was off the island and back home. The second guy wishes the same. The third guy says: ‘I’m lonely. I wish my friends were back here.’”
Jungkook gripped his wheel has he laughed, “Now that was funny!”
Taehyung watched Jungkook still chuckling and smiling while keeping his eyes on the road. “Did you really think it was funny?”
Jungkook side glanced at him, “Of course, Tae…I feel bad for his friends though.” Jungkook laughed more, then brought Taehyung’s hand to his lips. “I love you.”
Taehyung swooned, “I love you more Kookie!”
The drive was now quiet with the lights from the city passing by them. Taehyung let out a soft breath as he rolled his window down to enjoy the wind hitting against his face, feeling so free and alive. He closed his eyes and felt what it would feel like to finally get out, once he gets more help. The breeze was perfect as he felt his hair moving along with the wind while his Kookie drove them down the streets. He opened his eyes when Jungkook pulled into a McDonald’s. “Oh my gosh! I love this place!”
“Do you? Well, you’re just in luck, it’s one of my favorites as well.” Jungkook drove up to the menu and put his car on park. “So,” he said turning to Taehyung, “See anything you like?” Jungkook just stared at Taehyung’s concentrated face as he browsed the menu.
“Everything looks so good Kookie…I don’t know. I guess, um…” Taehyung was contemplating between a Quarter Pounder and a Sweet BBQ Bacon burger. “The Sweet BBQ Bacon burger, with large fries, please!”
Jungkook looked at the burger and had to agree, that it looked pretty damn good. “I’ll take the same. Coke to drink?”
“Chocolate milkshake…and a sundae too?”
Jungkook smiled and put his car on drive and slowly drove forward to the other menu board to order.
Once they got their order they were off down the streets again. “Do you want to go see anything in particular?” Jungkook asked glancing at the time. He wanted to do anything Taehyung wanted, and would make sure he would enjoy himself, just letting go for one night.
“Your house,” Taehyung smiled. He could see the world when he gets out, but right now he just wanted be with Jungkook. “We can eat on your bed, is that okay?”
Jungkook gave him a small smile and nodded. He knew Taehyung was used to sitting on his bed while eating, so it was a natural habit for him. Jungkook squeezed his hand and hoped that, that squeezed relayed so many messages.
Jungkook finally arrived and parked his car in his drive way. “This is it,” Jungkook said looking at Taehyung’s face in awe.
“It’s a beauitful house my sweet Kookie.” Taehyung got out of the car with the drink holder and his baby sitting next to his sundae on the holder, while Jungkook carried the bag.
“Thank you. I’d say she’s a beauty myself, but it can’t compare to your beauty.”
“Awww, did you just compare me a house? Really? No kisses for you tonight,” Taehyung pouted.
Jungkook stifled a laugh and went over to the black haired boy and pulled him into a hug, trying not to spill over the drinks. “Sorry to compare your beauty to my house…you’re the most beautiful person I ever laid eyes on.”
That was much better. Taehyung boosted himself up a bit and proceeded to walk to the front door.
Jungkook followed behind him, really falling more in love with him, with each passing second. Jungkook went to the door and unlocked it, letting Taehyung in first. He heard the boy gasp and heard a few more noises in excitement.
“It’s really pretty here! Wow! A sofa! Three years is a long time for me…” Taehyung said in a low tone.
Jungkook caught his sad words and quickley chimed in, “Food time! Come, let me take you to my bedroom.” Jungkook grabbed his wrist and dragged him down the hall and into the last door on the right. “Tada! Where no magic happens!”
“You did magic before?” Taehyung asked.
Jungkook’s mouth hung open for a second, “What?…Oh…” He didn’t want to tell Taehyung the real meaning behind it. “I used to do magic when I was a kid…come let’s eat, sit down,” he quickly said. Jungkook got their food out of their bag and handed it to Taehyung. “Eat up babe.”
Taehyung blushed at the word. “I like that word for me.”
Jungkook shoved fries in his mouth, “What word?”
“The one you just said…”
Jungkook thought what he just said, and stuttered out his words, “S-shit..I-I didn’t m-ean that, w-well I did, but…is that okay?”
“More than okay, baby,” Taehyung said back to him.
Jungkook took a fry in between his teeth and leaned forward in front of Taehyung. Taehyung understoond and leaned in to bite into the fry, feeling Jungkook’s lips on him while doing so. “That was a nice way to kiss.”
“Wasn’t it?”
“French kissing,” Taehyung said laughing at his own joke.
“All right Mr. Jokester, eat up.”
Both ate in silence while Taehyung continued to glance around the room and looked at everything in sight. “Nice TV,” Taehyung said pointing at it with a fry in his hand.
“Thank you.” Jungkook wanted to turn it on, but he knew he couldn’t do it, and it kind of sucked for them both.
Once they were both done eating, Taehyung groaned and rubbed his stomach. “It hurts so bad nowww.” Taehyung laid on his back and cradled his tummy from all the pain it was giving him.
“Your stomach is not used to all that food, or any of it to be honest. Do you have to use the restroom? It’s right down the hall, first door to the left.”
“Nononono, it’s just in pain.”
Jungkook tood everything off the bed, then sat next to a moaning Taehyung who was shutting his eyes tightly. “Here, move your hands, I’ll rub it better for you.”
Taehyung peeked opened his eyes and saw Jungkook looking at him. Taehyung moved his hands and allowed Jungkook to rub him.
Jungkook rubbed over his shirt in circles, to make his tummy feel better, and began to hum, hoping to soothe him more. “Feel a little better?”
Taehyung nodded as he watched Jungkook. Taehyung slowed grabbed the hem of his own shirt and slid it up inch by inch for Jungkook to see.
Jungkook smiled at the cuteness, then his eyes began to fill with tears as he saw more of Taehyung’s stomach. He held back a sob as he saw much more of him, and he didn’t want Taehyung to know anything. He didn’t want to ask anything, he didn’t want to start anything either. Jungkook leaned down and placed kisses on the burn marks that were from cigarette butts, and saw scars that were all over his stomach and his sides that led around to his back. Jungkook peppered kisses on his Taehyung’s body as he let the tears come down onto his soft skin.
How could anyone do this to a fifteen year old? A fucking boy. Jungkook sucked in a deep breath and continued to kiss his body all over, hoping everything would go away. Hoping he felt no more pain. Jungkook loved him so much, and to see him so hurt…it’s no wonder he would scream whenever someone touched him, or it burned. He was tortured, and lived in the past from his experience.
“My mom did it. She burned me, and both her and my dad beat me up…once they saw Abby dead, they wanted me dead also. My dad went insane and blamed me for everything…he said it was my fault she died, and it was my fault they were going to die.” Taehyung stared at the ceiling and had no emotion on his face. “He said, I’m going to live, and feel guilty until it eats me alive. Then…” Taehyung took in a deep breath, “Then he shot my mom, then shot himself…leaving me all alone.”
Jungkook cried and held Taehyung close, “Tae, shhh, don’t talk about it, please? Just enjoy your time with me…Tae?” Jungkook looked at Taehyung and knew his Taehyung was already gone, it was replaced by his other half. “Tae?”
This was not good…
