“For straightening me out
For waking me from being suffocated
For waking me from a dream, which was all I was living in
When I think of you, the sun comes out
So I gave my sadness to the dog
Thank you for being ‘us'”
Namjoon hung up the phone and wiped his tears that poured down his face and sucked in a deep breath. He heard a beep go off on the monitor and quickly checked the screen. Another beep went passing through. Namjoon quickly checked for a heart beat, and felt a faint beat, than quickly called out for nurses as he put on a oxygen mask for Taehyung.
Jin ran back in the room. “What?…” He stared at the screen and saw Namjoon working on Taehyung and smiled. “I guess he didn’t give up after all.”
Namjoon laughed as tears didn’t seem to stop falling. “I guess he really does have an angel looking out for him.”
Jin smiled and patted Namjoon’s shoulder. “Go call Jungkook…tell him to get here quick.”
Namjoon jogged outside the door and called Jungkook.
Jungkook laid on his floor not being able to move as he continued to cry feeling heartbroken. He heard his phone ring out again and swore he wasn’t going to pick up, but something in him told him to answer. “Hello?” he answered with a shaky breath.
“He’s alive! Taehyung…he came back! Jin said to get over here now!”
Jungkook’s body shook as he felt his heart beating again and broke out in a sob as he stood up on wobbly legs. “T-Tae…I’m coming.” He grabbed Abby and the small bag he bought for Taehyung and ran out of the house with keys in hand. He sat in his car and tried to calm his shaky hands. He just lost Taehyung and minutes later, he’s back again…his mind was mess, but the only thing that kept him going through was the fact that he was alive.
He took several deep breaths and calmed his nerves down a bit to start the car. He drove off and hurried on his way to the hospital. Once he reached the hospital he quickly parked and called Namjoon for the floor and room number. He grabbed Abby and his bag and ran towards the door at full speed, reminding him of what he did in the past as well.
He burst into the door and cried as he saw Taehyung still sleeping with wires all over him, but alive. He felt a squeeze on his shoulder and looked up to see Jin who also had tears in his eyes. “Sorry, Jungkook. He really does need you, and I almost…he almost lost you.” Jungkook just smiled and thanked Jin. He walked up to Tae’s side and bent over, giving him a kiss on his cheek. “My beautiful angel…you came back to me.”
Namjoon smiled and walked over to the side of him. “We got him stable. He’s going to get all the treatment he can get, I promise.”
“Thank you so much, Namjoon…I don’t think thank you is ever going to be enough,” Jungkook smiled through his tears.
“Just take care of him, and that itself is a big thank you for me.” Namjoon gave him a small laugh and walked out of the room, giving Jungkook alone time.
Jungkook grabbed onto Taehyung’s hand and held it firmly in his. “I’m here, Tae, and so is Abby…we miss you.” Jungkook let go of Taehyung’s hand and placed Abby next to him on the bed. “There, now we are both by your side, where we belong.” Jungkook moved Taehyung’s hair to the side. “Why do you keep making me hurt? ****, Tae…you died…” Jungkook choked back a sob. “What was I gonna do? Huh?” Jungkook held Taehyung’s hand and laid his head down next to the boy.
After a few hours, Jungkook felt a twitch in his hand and looked up at Taehyung who moved his eyes behind his eye lids. “Tae?” Jungkook sat up and squeezed Taehyung’s hand. “Tae! I’m here!” Jungkook saw Taehyung’s eyes fluttered, trying to open up his eyes properly, but was failing at it. Jungkook looked up at the bright lights and left the boy’s side to dim the lights for him. A few seconds later, Taehyung’s eyes open and softly look at Jungkook. Jungkook cried and hugged Taehyung tightly. “Baby! You’re back! You left me,” he sniffled. “But I’m glad you’re back…I love you, Tae!”
Jungkook released Taehyung and saw Namjoon and Jin talking outside another patinet’s door. “He’s awake!” he said excitedly.
The two doctors jogged into the room and smiled in relief. “Welcome back, Taehyung!” Jin told him with a smile.
Namjoon wiped his tears, “I knew you wouldn’t leave so soon…you fought way to hard to quit.”
The doctor’s checked all the vitals, and slowly removed the oxygen mask, testing to see if his oxygen levels would stay on 90 and above. It did. They happily took it off and watch Taehyung smile at them. “I saw her…” Taehyung spoke in a raspy voice. They all looked at Taehyung curiously.
“Who, Tae?” Jungkook asked.
Taehyung looked at Jungkook and smiled, then looked down to his doll, “Abby.”
Jungkook beamed, “Really?? How is she?”
Taehyung’s bottom lip quivered as he thought of her. “She’s really good. She’s not a tiny baby anymore. She was three…but she could speak to me..it was so real.”
Jungkook squeezed Taehyung’s pale hand, “What did she say?”
“She…she told me she’s proud of me. S-she…she said she’s always looking out for me.” Taehyung let out a few sobs. “She told me to let her g-go. She said….she’s happy now and for me to be…happy.” Taehyung cried, then brought his doll close to face. “She was still…so beautiful.”
Namjoon and Jin looked at each other and smiled. “I have an idea,” whispered Jin to Namjoon.
Namjoon looked at Jin curiously. Jin just did a nod to the door, with Namjoon following right behind him.
“I bet she is,” Jungkook told him.
Taehyung looked over at Jungkook, “She said to tell you thank you…for looking out for me.”
Jungkook looked up to the ceiling, “You’re welcome Abby. I’d do anything for your brother. Thank you, for everything.”
Taehyung placed Abby right next to him. “I’m so tired still…I wonder what happened to me.”
Jungkook shook his head, “What matters is is that you’re now here with me, and alive.” Jungkook sat forward and placed a kiss against Taehyung’s dry lips. “I love you.”
“Aww, Kookie, you know I love you too.” Taehyung kissed him back and weakly raised his arms to wrap around Jungkook’s neck. “Glad you’re back with me. I guess Jin felt bad for everything, huh?”
Jungkook chuckled, “Seems like it. But…he seems really cool also.”
Taehyung nodded, “I agree. Now kiss me.”
___
Jimin was arrested after admitting the crime and was taken away to jail. He felt bad for everything’s he’d done, but owned up to his mistakes and took the punishment with no fights involved. Jungkook had promised to visit him with Taehyung after everything he’d done, but they didn’t want to live alone in a cell either. Jungkook and Taehyung agreed that no one deserved to be left alone, even if he did go overboard on his jealous ways…the couple still saw him as a good nurse he once was, and also a good friend.
Taehyung was sitting in his room. It had been two months since he woke up and was doing much better with his treatments. They prescribed him depression pills, and took meetings with Namjoon and Jin about his past to get him on the right track. Taehyung was just happy to know that Jungkook would come see him after he got off of work and would spend time with him in his locked room during the day to keep other patients out still.
“You look brighter these days, Tae.”
“I feel brighter…just two more months of evaluation and I’m out!” Taehyung exclaimed. “Ahh, I can’t wait!”
Jungkook smiled, “Same here….so…what do you want to do when you get out first?”
Taehyung looked at Abby. “Give my sister what she wants.”
Jungkook raised a brow, “And what’s that?”
Taehyung pursed his lips and tears filled to the rim, “Bury her…let her go.” It was gonna be hard for Taehyung, since that was all he had for so many years, and to finally bid her goodbye was going to be the hardest thing he was gonna have to do.
Jungkook pulled Taehyung in for a hug and heard him break down crying. “Shhh, you’ll be okay. Beside,” he told Taehyung rubbing his hands up and down his back. “She’s okay.”
Taehyung nodded against Jungkook’s shoulder, “I know. I’m just gonna miss her…”
“Me too.” Jungkook grew attached to the little doll always by Taehyung’s side, and for him to part ways with something so close to Taehyung also broke his heart.
____
Two months passed and Taehyung was a few days away from being released from the hospital with Jungkook by his side. “Not gonna lie, Taehyung, but um…I’m gonna miss having you here,” Namjoon told him with a sad smile on his face. “You did great and I’m proud of you, we all are.”
“Thank you. But, if it wasn’t for Kookie…I’d still be the same,” Taehyung shyly smiled.
Jungkook grinned, “Aren’t you lucky I got hired then?”
Taehyung nodded his head happily, “Very lucky.”
Jungkook kissed Taehyung’s temple and squeezed his tight. “I’m very lucky to have met you….even though not gonna lie…you crept me the f*ck out when I first met you,” Jungkook laughed.
Taehyung smacked his shoulder, “Jerk! And that was a good day for mine!”
Jungkook laughed, “See! That makes it even more scarier! I swore I thought you were gonna kill me! I almost pissed myself that night!”
Taehyung laughed, “I was a bit crazy right?”
Jungkook rolled his eyes, “A bit?”
Taehyung smacked him again, but a little harder, “Meanie!”
“I still love you, Tae!” Jungkook giggled. Taehyung stomped off to the other side of the room with Namjoon laughing at their bickering. “Aww…so glad you can’t go far from me.” He walked behind Taehyung and wrapped his arms around his thin waist, pressing a kiss to the back of his head. “I’m glad I fell in love with you. You’re the best thing that came out of this.”
Taehyung slowly turned around and smiled, “Really?”
Jungkook nodded, “Really.”
Namjoon cleared his throat and gathered his stuff and shook his head as he walked out the door. “Love birds, I swear.”
___
Later that day after leaving Taehyung. Jungkook was on his bed looking online for baby caskets, and decided to buy one for Abby. The prices were insane, but Jungkook knew that it was for his baby sister, so he didn’t want to complain about the prices. He saw a pretty mini casket that was a white with gold traditional corners along with gold handles. The inside was a soft pink…Jungkook smiled and picked it out. It was perfect for such a perfect little baby.
Jungkook was now at the hospital after work the next day. He knew Taehyung was still sleeping, but went still went to talk to Jin. He saw Jin when he walked in the building and gave him a small wave. “Hey, Jin!”
“Jungkook! Here to see,Taehyung?” Jin told him, giving him a wink.
“Actually…I came to talk to you.” Jungkook nervously rubbed his nape and wasn’t sure if Jin would agree to what he was about to say.
Jin looked at him puzzled, “Uh, sure. Come to my office.”
Jungkook sat on the chair that was in front of Jin’s desk. “I uh…I wanted to know if…maybe we could bury Abby somewhere on the property? I know it’s not allowed, but..”
“No, it’s not allowed, and I won’t allow it,” Jin said to him.
Jungkook looked down to his lap and chewed on his lip, “O…kay. Sor-“
“-The staff and I made arrangements for next week at cemetery where he’s sister was originally buried, but sadly she was buried unlisted.”
Jungkook looked at Jin, “What do you mean, unlisted?”
Jin sighed, “When someone passes away, and they have no one to claim them or any name to go with them…they get buried at a random place. Sadly we don’t know where exactly, but we know for sure she was taken there. Namjoon and I did some calls and tracked it down to that cemetery.
“You…and Namjoon d-did t-this?” Jungkook voice cracked.
“We did, but the staff helped pitch in for a plot. We will look at caskets tomorrow-“
“I already purchased one…”
Jin smiled, “That’s good. Then we’re all set for Abby.”
Jungkook felt his chest stuffy as he tried to breath cooly, but was overwhelmed with happiness. “Thank you so much…we…are s-s-so thank-f-ful.”
“No, Jungkook. We are thankful for what you have done, and thankful for Taehyung overcoming something so hard.”
Jungkook cried and wiped his nose, “Thank you.”
“Thank you, Jungkook.”
____
Taehyung held Abby as he looked back at the staff who watched him from door. He waved his goodbye one last time with tears running down his face. He was really going to miss them, but he was happy to start new again, especially with Jungkook. They both sat in car, looking at the staff. “Ready, babe?” Jungkook asked Taehyung, gripping his hand.
“More than ready, Kookie,” he smiled, clutching Abby in his arm.
Jungkook started the car and took off driving. “Feels good, doesn’t it, Tae?”
“Mmm,” he hummed happily, looking out the window. “Feels like a dream though.”
Jungkook smiled and rolled down his window for him. He looked at the two bracelets that he gave to Taehyung and was happy that he never took off his set. “Want to go shopping? We need to get you a lot of clothes now that you’re out.”
Taehyung looked over at Jungkook with wide eyes, “You’ll take me shopping?”
“Of course! You do need clothes, Tae,” Jungkook told him.
Taehyung clapped his hands happily. We got even more happy when Jungkook pulled into a his favorite restaurant, McDonald’s, and squealed. “Love it!”
Jungkook looked over at Taehyung amused, then parked his car. “I got you shoes, so you need to put those on before heading inside.” Jungkook reached the back seat and handed him solid white shoes to match with his white clothes.
Taehyung placed them of his bare feet and smiled. “I’m ready.” He grabbed Abby and held her close to him getting out of the car.
Jungkook ran around to Taehyung’s side. “I would’ve opened the door for you, Tae.”
“I know, but I promise, I know how to open the door as well,” Taehyung teased.
“I know..I just love doing things for you,” Jungkook smiled sheepishly. “Come on, baby, let’s eat something.” Jungkook walked into the busy place and watched Taehyung’s eyes open up in excitement.
“It’s been years since I’ve stepped foot in this place…” Taehyung looked around and grinned.
“You’ve been to this McDonald’s?” Jungkook asked to make sure.
Taehyung nodded. “This exact one.” He knew his old home wasn’t far from the place either. He looked out the window and faced the direction where his old home was at.
“What’s wrong,Tae?” Jungkook looked out the window and back to Taehyung who carried sadness in his eyes.
“My home…it’s just across that street…a few blocks down.”
Jungkook wrapped his arm around his shoulder. “Oh…did you uh, want to stop by?”
Taehyung shook his head.
“Stupid suggestion, ****, sorry, Tae.” Jungkook grit his teeth as he cursed a few curse words under his tongue.
“It’s okay, Kookie. Just an old past, that will forever haunt me.”
Jungkook turned Taehyung to face him, then kissed his lips. “Let’s move forward with our life together.”
Taehyung felt a tug on his pants and looked down at a little girl. “Yes?”
The little girl pointed at his doll, “She’s pretty.”
Taehyung smiled and showed off Abby to her. “Isn’t she?”
“Yeah! Can I touch her?”
Taehyung held out Abby and let the girl play with Abby’s hair. Jungkook was happy to know that Taehyung also didn’t flip out when someone touched Abby…his heart swelled with happiness still seeing Taehyung smile.
“What’s her name?”
“Her name is Abby.”
“Abby? That’s a pretty name.”
“Thank you.”
The parents of the little girl looked at Taehyung up and down and grimaced, pulling their daughter away from him. Taehyung frowned, but felt Jungkook kiss his shoulder. “Not everyone is okay with a guy holding a doll,” he laughed softly. Taehyung glared at him, making Jungkook shake a bit. Jungkook couldn’t get used to the death look Taehyung gave him, wayyy to many bad experiences happened when Taehyung looked at him like that. “Joking, babe! I swear!”
Taehyung let out a laugh, “I swear, it looked like you were gonna piss yourself for real this time.”
“You wouldn’t understand the feeling, Tae…you just wouldn’t understand,” Jungkook told him shaking his hand and leading him to the front counter.
___
“I’m exhausted!” Taehyung shouted as he dropped all the bags on the floor and laid on Jungkook’s bed. After shopping for so many hours, Taehyung was ready to just sleep the rest of the day away.
Jungkook panted as he carried in about seven heavy bags on each arm that Taehyung gladly placed on him. He placed them on the floor and laid besides a sleepy Taehyung. “I had fun with you.”
Taehyung smiled against the sheets. “I had fun with you also…I’m drained though.”
“Let’s sleep, babe. You can shower and put your new pajamas on once you wake up.”
“Mmm.” Taehyung closed his eyes and fell asleep with Jungkook by his side.
Taehyung stretched and woke up slowly, feeling a soft bed below him. He smiled as he snapped to being out of the hospital and in Jungkook’s room instead. Taehyung sat up and watched Jungkook sleep and just had to kiss his sleeping face all over. “You’re so cute when you sleep!”
Jungkook groaned and rubbed his eyes, “What time is it?”
“It’s past 10 p.m!” Taehyung was used to waking up late and being up all night, so to him the night had just begun, but quickly remember Jungkook had to work in the mornings. “Oh, I’m so sorry! You work tomorrow….I’ll….I’ll just shower.” Taehyung looked out the room, “How do I turn on your shower?”
Jungkook laughed and sat up. “Grab your clothes and meet me in the restroom.”
Taehyung nodded and went into his bags to find what he needed.
“This should be warm enough,” Jungkook told himself as he felt warm water hit his hands. He shook his wet hand off then dried it off with a towel. “Tae! Your shower is ready!”
Taehyung bounced his way to the restroom and smiled brightly. “I’ve missed your place so much! It’s now my home!” Taehyung had been thinking of this day for so long. Taehyung laid his clothes on the counter and began to undress himself with Jungkook still in the restroom.
Jungkook swallowed hard and quickly looked away. “I’ll um…be in the dining room making you something to eat…” Jungkook walked to the door but was stopped by Taehyung.
“Stay with me,” Taehyung asked in a small voice. “I want you to see all of me…”
Jungkook turned around and looked at Taehyung as he undressed completely, leaving him standing *****. Jungkook remember the scars on his body, but what he saw was much more damage to his body.
“I’m ugly, but I wanted you to see what I really look like..”
Jungkook walked up to Taehyung and kissed him deep, letting his hands roam his chest, stomach and back. “Ugly? Who the told you that? You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever met Tae…so beautiful.” Jungkook moved down and kissed all the scars that decorated Taehyung’s body. “This body belongs to me, and trust me,” he said, as he continued to kiss his stomach. “I love it…I love you.”
Taehyung smiled and wiped his tears. “I was afraid to show you all of me.”
“Never be afraid. You know I already love all of you, okay.” Jungkook moved lower down Taehyung’s body and gripped his hips tightly. He was so tempted to kiss Taehyung’s member, but fought the urge with a lot of will power. “You’re beautiful. Every inch of you,” Jungkook told him looking up into Taehyung’s eyes.
Taehyung smiled gnawing his bottom lip. “You’re beatiful too, Kookie.”
Jungkook stood up, cupping Taehyung’s face and kissed him, letting their tongue meet and move together. “Take your shower. I’m going to go cook for you, my love.”
“Okay,” Taehyung whispered.
Jungkook walked out of the restroom and looked down at his own problem. “F*ck…seems like I have to be careful around him.” He palmed himself to ease up the ache in his pants and went to the kitchen to get started on dinner.
“How does everything taste?”
“It’s been forever since I had a home cooked meal” Taehyung moaned as he took another bite of his meal. “My mom used to make this pasta with this sauce, and ugh…” Taehyung wiped the pieces that flew out of his mouth and clean his hands. “She was the best cook..”
Jungkook didn’t say anything and just nodded. He wanted Taehyung to talk more about his family, without him having to press on about things. He was just glad Taehyung controlled himself, and didn’t act out as before, but it was still always on his mind of him having some episodes. Jungkook placed his fork down and grabbed onto Taehyung’s hand. “Tae…there’s something I need to tell you.” He watched as Taehyung knitted his brows and just looked at him. “It’s about, Abby. I…know it’s gonna be hard for you, but the staff at the hospital…well, they bought a plot for Abby to rest in peace with…I,” Jungkook cleared his throat and started talking again. “I…bought a casket online that should be arriving soon. We all figured we send her away, the right way.”
Taehyung sucked in a breath and cried as it hit him all at once. He knew he had to let Abby go, but just hearing it made him sad. His sister needed this, but he’s been so used to the baby by his side, it was going to break his heart. He was also happy everyone thought of him, and mainly thought of Abby. He never did have a chance to say goodbye to her.
___
The funeral came for his little sister and the staff from the hospital was there with Taehyung, by his side. Taehyung watched as they lowered the casket into the ground with his baby inside. Taehyung cried, “This is really goodbye, isn’t?” Taehyung placed two roses on the casket for his mom and dad and cried softly, but happy knowing Abby was doing okay. Taehyung sobbed feeling so many emotions. He wished he was there the day she was really buried, the day that he never got to say goodbye…he wanted to reverse time and make things better, but he knew he couldn’t.
Jungkook looked at Taehyung and saw a small smile on his face. “She’s happy, right? Besides…this is what she wanted. And guess what, Tae? You have me from now on.”
“I know,” Taehyung sniffed. “I just miss her so much…” He cried harder, holding onto Jungkook.
“She’ll always be with you, Tae. You may not see her, but she’ll always remain in your heart, and trust me…she’ll keep an eye out for you.” Jungkook kissed the side of his head, knowing Taehyung was going to be alright.
Jin and Namjoon walked up to the couple. “You did amazing, Taehyung. Namjoon and I are very happy that you’re moving on with your life, the way you’re supposed to.”
“Keep your head held high, Taehyung and never forget, you still have us at the hospital who care about you. Don’t forget, we’ll still be seeing you once a month to see how things are going,” Namjoon told him, pulling him into a hug while patting his back. “I’m happy for you. You got a second chance of living…take advantage of it.”
Taehyung nodded then wiped his tears with his tissue. “I will. Thank you both for everything…”
“Taehyung! My main man!” Hoseok said with a smile on his bright face, with Yoongi behind him. “Look at you! All grown up and so tough now!”
Yoongi rolled his eyes, “He’s always been tough. Heck I bet he’s tougher than all of us. He’s still standing after everything, and with a smile.” Yoongi smiled at Taehyung. “Keep that smile on your face…Jungkook told me that’s what keeps him going through the day.”
Taehyung had watery eyes and looked at Jungkook. “He’s what keeps me going also…”
The couple thanked everyone and watched everyone leave, leaving them alone. Taehyung looked down at the casket. “Goodbye Abby…thank you for all the great memories. Thank you for being the best little sister I could ever ask for. Most of all, thank you for keeping me alive through all the years…bye my baby…until we meet again.”
Jungkook embraced Taehyung and let him cry it out as he stayed silent.
