Amelia sat at her work desk when the clock struck half past eleven in her room. She adjusted her table lamp which luminated the contents on her desk; enough for her to concentrate on her work but the old woman’s words echoed in her head. It must’ve been difficult for Adrian to lose both of his parents at a young age, thought Amelia resuming her work. When she met him in the morning, the man has rejected her design not sparing any time to listen to her presentation. Amelia sighed, what else could she expect from a man like him, she was lucky enough that he gave her another chance. As she was going through her designs again, she realise that something was missing in her designs, but what was she missing? She was yet to find out. She has only four days to redesign it. She ruffled her hair before putting a bun, she was exhausted due to lack of sleep but that didn’t stop her from working, there was no way she was going to let her designs get rejected again. Amelia heard a knock and went to open her door aware of the person standing on the other side of her room.
“Coffee!!!” Skylar grinned holding two cups of coffee.
“As good as elixir for me at this moment.” droned Amelia taking the cup from Skylar and sipped. “Wow!” she exclaimed as she sipped her coffee.
“Stop over working, Amy. Look at your face, you look like a zombie,” Skylar’s comment made her friend chuckle and wink at her.
“A beautiful Zombie you mean?” Skylar rolled her eyes at Amelia’s response. “Zombies are not beautiful, Amy.”
Amelia sent a playful glare at the girl who was sitting on her bed when something flashed on her mind.
“Did you know that Adrian’s parents died in a accident?” Amelia noticed the way Skylar’s smile died down.
“Hmm… almost everyone at Kinsale does.” came a meek reply from Skylar. The room was filled with unwanted silent. Amelia didn’t understand what the reason behind Skylar’s reaction.
“It’s late, Amy. Sleep well, you can start your work tomorrow,” Skylar said breaking a few minutes of silence and took the empty cup which Amelia placed it on her table after completing it. Amelia didn’t even speak to Skylar. She observed her friend shutting the door softly. She was alone in her room again as questions arose in her mind. It was odd how Skylar’s face turned pale at the mention of Adrian’s parents death. Was there something Amelia was not aware of?

It was around four in the morning and the streets were deserted. Unlike any other day, Adrian didn’t go for a walk at his place. Instead, he came to the beach that was on the east division along with his pet. It wasn’t like he often went for morning walks, he seldom found time to have a stroll around. It always made him feel nostalgic because of the memories he shared with the place. He sat on a rock to see the sun rise while his dog walked around wagging its tail with pride. A few minutes later, he found his pet playing with a woman. Adrian was surprised to see his pet which allowed someone else touch him. The stranger was brushing its fur and his pet was woofing in happiness. His pet, Wolf, never let anyone touch its body and to play with a stranger was something that he had never witnessed until today. The stranger was a woman with a hoody over her head. An unknown curiosity took over him when he found her familiar. He observed the woman who reminded him of the incident in London because of which Wolf is with him today.
It was one of the coldest rainy nights. After attending a meeting, he was on his way back to his hotel. He saw a woman walking alone on the streets and turned back to see his vehicle. If she was hoping that he would give her a lift, then she was wrong. There was no way he would pick her up, he thought but the very next moment he hit break when he saw a little creature in front of his car. He heaved a sigh of relief when he realised he didn’t hit the dog. He instantly got down from his car to check on the little dog. By the time he got down from his car, he saw the woman taking the wounded animal into her arms. Before he could ask her if the dog was fine, the woman started to yell at him to which he was taken aback. Is she crazy? Didn’t she see the traces of blood on road, he thought.
A moment later, the woman stopped speaking, maybe she found out that the dog was already wounded. He couldn’t see her face; all he could see was a pendant around her neck. He took the dog from her hand and carefully made it to sit in the back seat while the woman went to bring her luggage. It was quite funny to think that he was against at the idea of giving her a lift at first but later he was the one who told her to get her things. The girl sat incredibly stiff; her eyes on anything other than him. Strange, this woman was. She blamed him for something he has never done, her vocabulary made him stop in his tracks and observe her. She didn’t seem like a poor woman judging by her attire. He noticed that throughout their ride, she didn’t remove her hoody, it was not that he was curious to see her but her little actions made his lips quirk up into a smile whenever she tried to have a look at him and then looked away when he turned his head to her side. The time when she unknowingly hit her head to his chest, she was too nervous that she rushed into the airport before he spoke. He found her strange for many unknown reasons.
Adrian didn’t know if he was imagining things or was it really her. He didn’t want to indulge in unnecessary things, but a sudden urge in him, was drawing to have a closer look at her. He took long steady strides towards her and halted in mid-way the moment his eyes captured something he never expected to witness again. It was the same pendant the woman whom he met in London wore around her neck. He could tell the pendant was a rare one because of the stones on it. Her hoody was no more over her head because of the blowing wind against her. His eyes fixed at her, unmoving and taking up all the attention where his dog running towards him appeared to be disappear in his sight. The sun rays fell on the woman’s face giving him a clear and bright view of her face. Amelia who was oblivious, looked at him as he did the same.
Amelia, he recollected the time when she said her name. Adrian saw her giving a short bow in respect. He was too confused with his thoughts and didn’t realise that he was supposed to respond to her greetings, at least a simple nod which he always gives to his employees. Amelia smiled back at him before leaving the place, but the man was rooted in the same spot.
