Just wanted to say THANK YOU, for the support you guys are giving me ❤️ I have changed the cover photo, let me know how it looks.
It wasn’t the first Amelia had danced with a man, there were occasions where she was asked to dance but when Adrian held her hands, she found warmth in his slightest touch which she hd never felt before. Whenever he pulled her towards him, she felt a knot in her stomach but Adrian was unaffected as always, she thought but what she didn’t know was that he never wanted to let go of her hand when he stepped away from her reluctantly and also whispered something into her ear to see her flustered face.
Adrian waited for Amelia to respond but the girl was taking her time to recover from whatever that had happened a few seconds ago. Before Adrian could listen to her voice, his head cocked to a side when a voice interrupted them. “It’s good to see you here, Mr. Schneider,” a man in his early fifties, spoke to Adrian. “You have brought a pretty lady with you.” The man named Jonathan Gibbs looked at Amelia and extended his hand for her. Amelia’s jaw clenched at the sight of this man but she shook her hand with him and gave a fake smile.
“Like wise,” Adrian answered and extended his hand so that the man would leave Amelia’s hand. As expected the man relased Amelia’s hand but reluctantly as if he wanted to touch her more than once. Adrian’s tone was professional and he kept his words minimum. He didn’t miss to notice the way this old man was staring at his employee and pressed her fingers in front of him, if only he could crush the old man’s fingers at this moment and he did without a second thought.
Adrian squeezed Jonathan’s hand. The middle aged man widened his eyes in shock and flinched a in pain.
“My hand…”
Adrian released his hand, there was glint of satisfaction in Adrian’s eyes which everyone around him failed to notice. Jonathan was angry when he looked at his palm which was now in pain but he didn’t show his emotions on his face and faked a smile because of the people around them. “You’re a strong man, Mr. Schneider. I can tell that by your hand shake.”
“I only wanted to wish on your anniversary, Mr Gibbs. I shouldn’t have pressed your hand knowing that you are turning old.” Adrian didn’t apologise as he wasn’t sorry for Jonathan.
‘Maybe I should’ve broke your fingers so that you won’t use them again,’ Adrian thought in his mind. If his cousin Trevor was at this moment, he would’ve teased Adrian for being childish but to Adrian it was the best way to teach the man a lesson so that he wouldn’t touch another girl, at least not tonight when the man’s wife stood by his side.
“Enjoy the party, Mr. Schneider. I hope you like my arrangements,” Jonathan spoke to him in a bitter tone. So it was his party, Amelia said to her self. She wouldn’t have attended the party with Adrian if she had known that the host was Jonathan. It was his fiftieth wedding anniversary. Amelia assumed the woman who stood beside Jonathan to be his wife, the woman seemed kind unlike her husband.
“The arrangements are not bad, Mr. Gibbs.” Adrian said and excused himself from Jonathan quickly, so that he could talk to Amelia in private but before he could talk to Amelia.
“Get yourself comfortable here and stay where my eyes can find you,” Adrian said to his temporary assistant when he saw two men looking at him with a wide smile on their faces. Adrian wanted her to be in a place where he could find her so that his mind could be at ease that the girl is safe.
Amelia was pissed because of Jonathan’s actions and now her boss is pushing her away from him. Great! “You shouldn’t have brought me here,” Amelia mumbled in frustration to herself and received a narrowed eyes from him in response to which she realised, he heard her comment but she was least bothered about what he thought of her right now. Though Adrian heard her and knew what she had said was right, he didn’t speak out because of the two men who were on their way to greet him.
Amelia cursed him under her breath and took a glass of water before walking past him. If he knew he would abandon her in the party, why would he even bring her?!
She found an empty couch and she was glad it was somewhere in the corner where people wouldn’t notice her. She could just pretend like an invisible person.
Within seconds, Adrian was surrounded by few people. While the others were talking to each other and laughed for every passing minute, Adrian stood with his glass of wine and spoke only when it was needed. The conversation was boring, it would’ve been better he excused himself from them but they were his clients and few others were his partners with whom he wanted to build business relationship for his new hotels and resorts. If it not for his work, he wouldn’t have stayed any longer.
Amelia looked around the room to find if she knew anyone. She was alone even though she was surrounded by many people. The only person she knew didn’t want her by his side. Amelia gave a quick glance at every corner of the room until she found someone walking inside through the entrance. Amelia almost chocked when she saw her father. She could see everyone stiffen while they greeted him out of respect. Why was here? By the information she gathered from Skylar, her father was supposed to be in Sydney but then he was here in the same room.
“I have heard that Mr. Earnshaw helped you with a land papers within two months, is it true?” a man who stood beside Adrian asked him in a low voice when Roman Earnshaw was making his grand entrance.
Adrian nodded in response but the man named Luther Swan, was not satisfied by the response he received by Adrian. Hence, he didn’t push the topic when Adrian looked uninterested to talk. Luther Swan chose to shift his attention to Roman Earnshaw who was now standing in the circle of crowd along with him.
“…. I had to cancel my visit to Sydney because of the torrential rains…” Roman spoke to a person who asked him about his visit to Sydney, they didn’t expect his presence in the party. While Roman was speaking, he noticed a girl in red gown who was rushing towards the exit door. The mysterious girl was facing her back to Roman. She seemed to be in a hurry, Roman shifted his gaze back to the people who were talking to him as continued his conversation.
Amelia rushed to the exit door and didn’t stop running until doors of the elevators were wide opened. She cursed her luck when she bumped into someone she never wanted to meet again.
“Look whom I have found here,” she heard the curled hair man speak to her with a wicked grin. It was then she regretted for leaving the hall, it would’ve been better if she just hid her face in the crowd but she just ran away only to be bumped into Jonathan Gibbs who now looked like a hungry animal waiting to savour his prey. To her horror, the doors closed before she could step out of the elevator. Amelia felt as if she dug her own grave.
