“Ms. Santiago, since how long have you been working with Mr. Schneider?” It was the irritating voice of Jonathan. Amelia who heard him, was not even a bit interested to give him an answer.
“I joined recently,” she answered curtly and showed her disinterest while replying and hoped he would stop talking to her but that didn’t happen because the man who had no shame started to speak again.
“No wonder I have never seen. Do you live in Dublin?” while his questions were directing towards her, his eyes didn’t move from her chest. When Amelia noticed it, she turned away from him but that didn’t stop Jonathan from stepping a bit closer to her.
Amelia was terrified, terrified of the man who stood behind her, he was only inches away from where she stood. There were security cameras, Amelia thought she was safe but at the same time she doubted if the security guards would rescue her if something happens because the man was their employer. God knows when the doors will be opened so that she could just get out from this place.
“I hope you enjoyed the party,” Jonathan was trying his best to gain her attention in every way he could.
“I did,” she pursed her lips. Amelia was scared to death because of the drunken man but didn’t show any hints of fear on her face because that would make him feel she was weak.
After what felt like eternity when it was only three minutes, the doors of the elevator were open. Amelia made her way out but Jonathan caught her.
“What’s the hurry, darling?” Jonathan’s wicked grin grew on his face which only made her give a disgusted look.
“Don’t even dare to touch me,” Amelia warned and freed her hand from his grip and started to walk away but Jonathan was quick enough to push her against the wall with a force making her flinch in pain when her shoulder was hurt.
“Don’t be afraid I will be easy on you,” he tried taking a step forward when Amelia lifted her leg a little to press his feet with her pointed heels. Jonathan screamed in pain and cursed the girl but didn’t let go of her hand. He looked at her fiercely, Amelia was struggling to free herself but his grip on her wrist was too firm, it would leave a bluish mark on her skin for a few days.
“Stop moving unless you want me to punish you hard,” he whispered, her head was spinning more than ever. She tried to lift her leg to kick him again but he pressed his body giving her no chance to move. She could smell the alcohol from him and it only made her feel sick at this moment. She screamed when he made attempts to kiss her. Before he could touch her inappropriately, she pushed him with a force such that he fell on the floor. Amelia kicked him again and pressed his leg with one of her heel so that he wouldn’t chase her. When she was satisfied with his painful screams, she stepped away to run but Jonathan caught her leg making her fall on the carpeted floor. In a matter of second, he was over her.
“You are one fierce bitch. It would be a privilege to have you tonight,” he caught her wrists and pinned her to the floor making his way to kiss her neck.
Before he could go any further, he was thrown on the floor harshly and the next moment Amelia saw Jonathan choke on air as Adrian gripped his throat pushing him against the wall.
Adrian has been looking for her since the time he had found that she was not in the room. He searched for her every corner in the room and also sent a staff lady to the ladies washroom to check for her but found that she wasn’t there too. Where would she even go when he told her to sit where he could find her. Adrian left the party in a rush without informing anyone. He took stairs to look for her and after what felt like an eternity he found her at the end of the floor.
When he found her, his anger bubbled up in his veins at the sight of the moron who was trying to touch her inappropriately. His hand balled into tight fist and when he caught Jonathan, he didn’t think twice to grip his throat, he then pushed the man to the wall with force such that Jonathan go could immense pain.
“Le…leave me, please,” Jonathan pleaded but Adrian didn’t leave him, instead he pressed by applying more pressure on the man’s throat. He should’ve broken his fingers when he shook his hand with this filthy bastard.
“Adrian!”
Amelia called his name, her voice carried pain and relief at the same time. She was relieved that he had found her and saved her. Hearing her voice, Adrian released the man instantly, who then fell on the floor and coughed while trying to breathe some air.
“Are you fine?” his anger melted like a butter when he saw her eyes filled with tears but not a single drop came out of her eyes. She was holding them back.
“I… I…” Amelia was unable to form a sentence. Shock was an understatement when he saw Jonathan over her. He didn’t even want to think of the consequences if he hadn’t found her.
“Can you stand up?” he asked her softly. A tone which he had never used to her. Seeing her nod slowly, he helped her stand on her feet and walked beside her until they left the place.
They were walking on a deserted road. Adrian continued to follow her as she walked aimlessly under the starry sky. She was silent since the time they left the place and she had not uttered a single. Her hair was disheveled and purple marks were on her wrist. Adrian clenched his jaw when he saw her marks. He would’ve beaten the man to death but his priority was to make sure if the girl was fine after what had happened. Just because he freed Jonathan from his grip, doesn’t mean the basta*d would be safe in the near future. Once they return to Dublin, he would sue Jonathan’s company and would make him penniless.
When a sudden gush of cold wind blew, Amelia shivered and hugged herself. In a moment of second, she felt Adrian’s coat on her preventing from the cold wind from touching her exposed skin. She looked at Adrian who was already looking at her, she didn’t want to talk to Adrian about Jonathan right now and she was grateful to him that he didn’t ask her but followed her silently.
“Are you still feeling cold now?” he asked her to see her shook her head in denial.
“That’s good. Let us take a stroll for a while then,” he didn’t ask her knowing that she would not agree with him. Now that he didn’t give her a choice, Amelia continued to walk by his side under the grey clouds where the moon was hidden behind.
After walking to a certain distance, they sat near a fountain when Amelia said she wanted to sit for a while. The sound of the flowing water filled their silence. It has always been that way, none of them utter a single word and during the silent moment, they find something new and interesting about one and another. Adrian knew the girl was a brave one but today she had proved it by not giving up when she was in such situation, even if he didn’t make in time, the girl would’ve saved herself but that didn’t mean he would leave her alone all by herself again like today. He would protect her even if she didn’t need one.
“I’m sorry for bringing you with me. I shouldn’t have forced you to come,” Amelia who was pressing her cold palms for warmth, looked at him to see a glint of regret in his eyes.
“You don’t have to. Didn’t you say it was related to work?” Amelia quoted what he had said in the party. That is what he said to himself when he told her about the party when they were having their breakfast but another part of him knew it wasn’t what he had proclaimed.
“You said you are from London. Do you want to visit your family?” Adrian changed the topic thinking it would only lead in giving explanations to each other. Since the day they reached London, he wanted to ask her if she had any plans to visit her family since she was here but he didn’t bring himself from asking her until this very moment.
Amelia paused for more than five seconds. Now that this person didn’t seem harmful to her as she thought in the early days, Amelia finally gave in as she couldn’t lie to him or avoid his questions. “I cannot. I.. I ran away from home.” She didn’t blurt out this time but she confessed to him and hopefully one day she would gather courage to tell him the truth about her.
I hope this chapter wasn’t too disturbing. Will update next chapter tomorrow or three days later since I am busy 🤧
