It was a bright day in Kinsale as the dark clouds made their way for the sun to shine bright from thr sky. It has been a week since the rain pitter-patted. The place was situated near the mountains with high chances of the rainfall for every one or two days in a week. The birds came out of their nests to sing the song of the bright day. The natives of Kinsale felt the warmth of the sun after many days and came out of their houses to have a stroll around the beautiful place.
While everyone were having a bright day, Amelia shut her windows and sat in her dark room. She was a morning person but today she wanted to spend more of her time on the bed to fall asleep again but her eyes didn’t agree with her. She stared at the ceiling without blinking her eyes and tried to concentrate on a dot that was painted on the fan. It has been only nine hours since she returned to Kinsale. She reached late during night and upon Skylar’s suggestion Amelia decided to take rest which she did but not for more than three hours even after a long journey.
Amelia’s eyes shifted from the dot on the ceiling to the closed wooden door when she heard a knock. Pushing the soft cover on her, she padded her feet towards the door only to see Skylar who had a cheerful smile on her face, she came to greet Amelia a good morning but the girl who hadn’t slept looked like a zombie.
“You can’t shut yourself in this room when people are enjoying the sunny day!” Skylar barged into her room and opened the windows that were shut by Amelia.
“I hate sun,” Amelia covered her face when a scarce amount of sunlight fell on her face. Why did the rain stop. It was beautiful when the land was wet instead of dry.
“You need to allow the brightness into the room. It is not like you will burn your skin because of sunlight! ” exclaimed Skylar, who then turned to see Amelia after openening all the windows in the room.
“I can switch on the light for brightness, you know?” Amelia walked into the washroom after tossing her hair Into a bun. If she waited for Skylar’s response, her friend would start lecture her about the importance of sun which happens all the time.
A sigh eluded from Skylar’s lips, she was glad that Amelia returned. Now they could spend a little more time with each other like they have been doing since the last few months. Skylar went into the kitchen and picked two cups before she made coffee. She took two coffee sachets before pouring the hot milk in the cups. A smile was formed when she recollected the day she joined as Trevor’s secretary. The man ordered her to make a cup of coffee for him and she did. He didn’t ask about her qualifications or her experiences but gave her the job after having a simple cup of coffee and she wondered how was that even possible. It has been more than six months and she gives him the coffee made by her for him everyday. It was as if she was appointed only because of the coffee she made.
Amelia took a quick shower and came out of the bathroom. She had numerous of thoughts on her mind on the previous day and now it was stuck at one thing. The kiss she received on her forehead by Adrian.
“Take care and you don’t have to come to work until Cain informs you,” Adrian looked into her eyes after he placed a feathered kiss on her forehead. Amelia felt glued to her feet, her mind was blank and she didn’t know how to respond when she felt tingles on her cheeks. Having nothing to say anymore, she gripped her luggage to leave. After she crossed the road and walked to a certain distance, she turned to see him once again only to realise that he had left.
Amelia gritted her teeth when she recollected about the previous night’s memory. She expected him to stay but he had left, maybe she was expecting too much from him but who wouldn’t after receiving an unexpected kiss. What did it even mean? She mentally shook her head. It has always been difficult to read Adrian’s mind or understand his actions.
After coming out of her room, she saw Skylar with two cups of coffee. Skylar’s coffee is an elixir of life to Amelia. She missed the taste of the addicting coffee. “Your hands are magic,” said Amelia, when she savored the taste of the coffee.
“Mr. Wolfrick says that too,” Skylar chuckled. “He must be addicted to your coffee then,” Amelia replied to see Skylar nod in agreement. It was then Amelia asked Skylar about Trevor.
“Do you have any idea as to why he wants to find me?” Amelia was curious to know and so did Skylar.
“I have no idea. He didn’t give me much information. He only wanted someone to gather information about Roman Earnshaw and his daughter,” Skylar said thoughtfully.
“Maybe I should avoid meeting him or resign my job. Yes, resign my job. That’ll be best for now. What do you think?” Amelia asked her friend who was taking her time to think.
“That wouldn’t make things any better. I’m sure Mrs. Schneider would try to stop you from taking such step. I think she wants you to become her grand daughter-in-law,” Skylar spoke her mind out which only made Amelia choke on her coffee at Skylar’s statement.
“I… What… Do.. You mean?” Amelia coughed but she managed to speak out.
“I’m sorry,” Skylar laughed and gently rubbed Amelia’s back to calm her down. She expected Amelia to be shocked but she never expected this kind of reaction from her.
“I can’t believe you. I thought you were serious,” Amelia inhaled deeply in relief that it was a joke because Skylar was laughing.
“And I didn’t expect you to believe me,” Skylar laughed. “But there were a few times I thought she was interested to know about you,” Skylar recollected the day when she was asked to visit the mansion to meet Josephine personally. The old woman had asked Skylar a few questions about Amelia saying she wanted to help her friend to find a job. Skylar was delighted at the old woman’s words and explained how she and Amelia met in London. The old woman listened to her narration with patience, now that Skylar thought about it again, she found it was a bit odd for the old woman to call her and ask about Amelia personally and not only that she had given Amelia her daughter-in-law’s dress.
“You know how we both met, may be that is why she wanted to know more about me,” Amelia explained and shrugged.
“May be,” Skylar thought that could be a reason too. She might’ve imagined too much. “I will be off to work, are you going to visit the mansion?” asked Skylar.
Amelia recollected Adrian’s words, “My boss told me to take rest,” Amelia gave a smirk.
“I never expected that from Mr. Schneider,” Skylar was surprised to see that Adrian had given Amelia a day off which doesn’t happen often. “Lucky you. Mr. Wolfrick didn’t even give a day off when I returned to Kinsale after two weeks,” Skylar huffed. The man was making her work too much, ordering her to make coffee for three times a day even when they stayed in a hotel.
“Skylar..” Amelia called out her name when Skylar was about to leave to her room. Amelia wanted to ask what did it mean when a person kiss on someone’s forehead. “Did you need anything thing?” asked Skylar.
Amelia rubbed her eyes and pretended to feel sleepy, “could you please switch on the fan. I want to sleep here,” Amelia didn’t ask what she wanted to know, may be she will have to wait to piece her thoughts before talking to Skylar about Adrian.

Meanwhile in London, Adrian was going through the land papers he received from Mr. Earnshaw. It was a surprise for him to see the man who was known to be cunning had done his part in time but what Adrian didn’t expect from Roman was that he called off the deal about the marriage with his daughter. It was the day Adrian left Amelia at the restaurant with Trevor and Skylar. Adrian felt as if a barrier was lift up to make a way for him to pursue what he wanted and at that moment, he wanted to see the girl and he did.
Adrian placed the papers back on his desk before he relaxed on his chair, now that he thought about Amelia, he asked himself if it was the time he saw her in London for the first time, it couldn’t be that way because it wasn’t a love at first sight. Was it the day he saw her at the beach or was it the day he saw her glassy eyes with tears on his grandmother’s birthday, he had no clue when he started to feel for her but he realised it before it was too late. Unlike Amelia, he didn’t push his thoughts away, he accepted that the girl had captured his frozen heart.
