It has been more than two days since Adrian had a peaceful sleep. He has been busy with his work since the time Amelia had left to Kinsale. After Jonathan, one of his important clients company went bankrupt, he lost a huge amount of money because of the deal he made with Jonathan but Adrian was least bothered about the loss, the man deserved it for his illegal investments or business. If it wasn’t for his uncle, who is Trevor’s father, Adrian wouldn’t have accepted Jonathan as his business partner. To balance the amount of money he had lost, he had to investment his money in another project for profits. Adrian buried himself with the pile of papers which needed his signature for approval.
After Adrian completed his work, he returned Kinsale early in the morning with the little amount of energy he had, he walked straight to his room and then fell on his bed. His grandmother who came know about his arrival, wondered why he didn’t come to meet her and then she went to check on him only to see that he was suffering from fever. The old woman was tensed and ordered Darcy to call for a doctor. After taking the doctor’s prescribed medicines, Adrian fell asleep and Josephine returned to her room after staying with him for more than an hour. Darcy ordered the staff members not to step near Adrian’s room since he needed rest. Adrian doesn’t sleep much and was a light sleeper. Hence, Darcy didn’t want the staff to disturb his young master while they worked.
After Adrian had his lunch, he took his medicines and slept again. He felt a wet cloth on him while he was asleep. He didn’t bother to open his eyes. A few minutes later, he felt a soft touch on lips which felt real. He half-opened his eyes and saw a figure walking out of his room. The person had a long hair and wore a light coloured formal dress. Everything is a dream, he was sure that it a was dream. There was no way Amelia would come to his room, he went into sleep again. When he woke up after thrifty minutes, he couldn’t help but recall the dream he had, it was so real to even think it was dream. Was he thinking too much about Amelia that he had now started to dream about her? Unable to break the thoughts out of his mind, Adrian decided to take a cold shower to get rid of them. Even when he was showering he couldn’t take her out of his mind. The day when he applied ointment on her bare skin, it took a lot of effort to control himself. He felt her soft skin when he dabbed a cotton on her exposed flesh. Never did he feel in such way like he did that day. Hell! He didn’t know he would feel that way by treating her wound, he was being drawn towards her and he knew it.
Though he felt energetic after taking a nap, the cold shower didn’t help from recalling the feeling he had when felt her soft lips touch him in his dream. It is better to meet his grandmother, he thought. That way he could keep himself busy. But who would’ve thought that the girl he just dreamt would be in his grandmother’s room. Her hair, her dress everything seemed to be the same. It didn’t take him much time to conclude that it was not a dream. This little vixen, he thought and stalked to his grandmother’s bed.
His grandmother asked him something and it took a second for him to answer.
“You are sick and now you might catch a cold!” His grandmother exclaimed. He was not a child to take shower with ice cold water but to his grandmother he was always a child.
His eyes didn’t sway from her, he could see the girl was aware of his gaze upon her and she was avoiding him on purpose. Her actions of avoiding him, irked him a little.
“I had to take a cold shower, grandma. Looks like you were having a good time with Ms. Santiago,”
He could see nervousness all over her face though she was trying her best to keep a composed face, she was very bad at masking her emotions. After asking about his health, she excused herself to return home.
As soon as Amelia left the room, Adrian excused himself from his grandmother who was oblivious of what was happening around her.
Adrian followed her and when found no one around, he pulled her into a room where the staff members were not present. He pinned her hands to the wall and caged her from running away. Though it was fun to chase her, he liked her being caged within his grip right now. Amelia tried to release herself but stopped moving when she heard him speak. Now that the deer stepped into the lion’s den, there was no way the lion would let it’s prey run away. The lion was adamant to chase and cage the deer.
‘Don’t you think you need to be responsible after the little stunt you did in my room?’
His words echoed on the back of her head.
Amelia couldn’t believe the words that came out from him. He was awake? She asked herself in disbelief. The smirk on his face created a tingling sensation but at the same time she wanted that smirk to disappear on his face.
Adrian who no stood with decent distance from her waited for the girl to answer to his question though he knew her answers. She thought he was asleep, it was good that things turned out this way which made it easy for him to understand the girl’s mind. Now that he was clear about Amelia, there was no need for him to ask himself about Amelia’s feelings. The girl was fierce yet fragile with a little mischievousness. There were many other qualities he found in her during the time he spent with her, qualities that lacked in him.
“I didn’t know you were awake.” It sounded like a statement but it was more like a question she was asking to herself.
Adrian who heard her, shook his head, “I was sleeping,” he explained and added, “… But it is good that I am a light sleeper and you don’t have to be nervous it not like you have done something wrong.”
He was calm and unaffected while on the other side, the traitorous red ting on her cheeks grew deeper because of him.
“I better leave,” her words were in whisper but clear enough for him to hear. Though he didn’t want her to leave he only nodded.
Their head cocked aside when they heard a maid knock the door. She came to clean the room and saw the two of them. She was one of the maid who saw Amelia come out of his room. It was now clear that something was brewing between the young master and the young lady.
Taking advantage of the situation, Amelia rushed out of the room excusing herself from Adrian. It was better to leave than to stay and face the embarrassment. She quickly got into her car and buried her face in her palm and cursed herself. She didn’t understand, did he indirectly convey any message to her or was she imagining things.
But what she didn’t know was that he was good at masking his emotions unlike her. Adrian was after all a young man, with the girl who could rush the blood in his veins, stood a little away from him it was difficult for him to control himself from touching her but he didn’t want to rush things and ruin the new bond that was developing between them. There were things, things the girl was hiding from him and he knew it from the beginning, he was suspicious but never asked. He trusted her and wanted her to trust him in return and to unfold her truth to him, until then he would wait for her to cross the invisible bridge between them.
