Amelia came down for the dinner, a few minutes after Adrian left her room. She sighed when she recalled what had happened a few moments ago in her room. They were having a good time and within a few minutes, the man’s mood switched to a foul one and she had no clue of the reason behind it. May be Adrian was a man who could switch his mood with in seconds, such an odd person and to think that she was in love with this man who always carried a cold look in his eyes, made her chuckle to herself.
“Looks like you’re in a good mood. What made you laugh now?” she heard Adrian’s voice and lifted her head to see him arranging the table for them.
“Just because someone else is not in a good mood doesn’t mean I shouldn’t,” her smile broadened with the reply she gave him. It was good that the man was back to normal, else it would’ve been a bit difficult for her to eat with him.
“May I ask who is this someone else you were referring to?” he raised his eyebrow at her only to receive another chuckle from her which sounded like a melodious music to his ears, a music he could never get tired in this life time.
“I don’t think the answer to your question is difficult. Why don’t you try finding the answer by yourself,” she smirked and the way she replied was just the way Adrian would reply to her questions.
“Did you just imitate me by any chance?” he narrowed his eyes but a smile played on his lips for a second before it disappeared.
“What if I am?”
When she finally came to the dinning table, Adrian pulled a chair for her to sit before he was seated opposite to her. They were the only ones in the room after the maid left. The food was kept for them on the table before they even came down.
“Then I must say you are very good at imitating me,” he said before serving her the food from the bowl.
“Since how did long did you know my father?” she asked him. For a second, Adrian’s movements paused before they were resumed.
“Years may be. I don’t even recall our first meet. I’ve known him only through news or gossips, if I may add,” Adrian mumbled. He didn’t tell her that it was only few months ago that he had a good conversation with her father about the deal and before that, they seldom met.
“Then you must’ve not heard anything good about him,” Amelia knew what people spoke about her father. She never liked when people spoke against her father and the old man was least bothered of what people thought about him.
“He is a cunning and selfish man, was what I often heard from people. I don’t think it is wrong to be selfish and cunning. Who isn’t that way. Every person are selfish and cunning in some or the other way. It is in human’s nature. The world is cruel and to survive in such world, being selfish for something you want to protect or achieve might be the wisest choice at times. At least from my point of view,” he explained, though he knew Amelia wouldn’t agree to him.
“I don’t agree with you. Just because you find the world cruel doesn’t mean you need to be a heartless person,” Amelia pushed a spoonful of her food into her mouth after speaking to him.
“I think it is better to drop the topic here before it turns into an argument,” Adrian replied. He noticed the way Amelia gritted her teeth while speaking to him. He didn’t find anything wrong in what he had said. He only told his point of view and she had her own. It was a debatable topic and it was better to not continue it.
“I wasn’t arguing. I was only stating the facts,” Amelia furrowed her eyebrows. Why would she argue with him.
“I never said you were arguing, I only said before it turns into an argument,” Adrian replied as he continued to eat. Instead of thinking much, Amelia continued to have her food and so did Adrian. A peaceful silence fell between them throughout their dinner.
When the morning arrived, Amelia came down after getting ready. It was around six in the morning. She wanted to leave to the hospital as soon as possible. She couldn’t sleep peacefully during the night time, she called the nurse who was in-charge of her father for every two hours to quire her father’s condition. The night felt longer than she had expected. She thought of going to Adrian’s room but she didn’t want to disturb his sleep and decided to stay on her bed.
After dropping Amelia at the hospital, Adrian left to his office. Not only he had to work, but also he had to think of a way to explain Amelia about himself.
After thinking for a long time, Adrian had decided to phone his cousin who might give him an advice. Without a second thought, he dialed called Trevor to speak about Amelia. It was after four rings did his cousin take his call when Adrian was on the urge of losing his sanity.
“I need to talk to you now,” Adrian spoke as soon as Trevor took his call.
“Permission granted,” Trevor let out a chuckle before he questioned Adrian. “Let me guess, it is about Angel, isn’t it?”
There was a pause on Adrian’s side which was enough for Trevor. It was not very often for Adrian to sound that way, like a desperate man. The man even said that he wanted to speak to him and the only pressing matter right now could be Amelia. Why can’t he just bury the truth, things would be the way it is now, Trevor didn’t understand what was wrong with Adrian. His cousin was not like before, Adrian was never a kind of man who would give an explanation for the things he do but since Amelia had come into his life, the young man had change.
“Her name is Amelia and not Angel,” he snarled.
There was another thing Trevor observed, the possessiveness in Adrian. Why was he so possessive about her? He asked himself before Adrian continued.
“Now coming to the point, I need your help,” Adrian spoke to his cousin who laughed at him for taking his help. The man who said he would never need an advice was actually asking his help now.
“What will I gain by helping you, hm?” Adrian had to roll his eye at his cousin’s words. He shouldn’t have called Trevor in the first place but Trevor knew more about a woman’s taste than him.
“What do you want?” asked Adrian. Since he asked Trevor’s help, he should do something in return.
“I will ask you when the time comes but for now, lets talk bout your date,” Trevor replied and Adrian had a bad feeling about it, he wished the time never comes.
