I spent the next few days pretending to be angry with Tobias because of the doubt that he had just thought again about me having something to do with the murder of his family members. He was completely right, but I had to play innocent in front of him. I had to find a way that was permanent to get rid of all the doubts he had about me. My innocent face wouldn’t work anymore.
We spent a total of a week at the beach, and when the day came for us to leave, Tobias would not leave me alone following me around the house asking for forgiveness.
– Since when did you become so spiteful? You were a lovely little girl as a child. – he asked me.
– From the moment you doubted my innocence the second time. – I replied with a bitter look in my eyes.
– But I’ve already apologized to you for three days in a row\, Diana. When will this be over? – he asked me then.
– I need some time. And if you will excuse me\, I need to organize my suitcase to put it in the car. – I said and immediately after I closed the door to my room and locked it with the key.
I heard him sigh after that and then go down the stairs. It was complicated to do that to Tobias when I wanted to spend all day playing and talking to him, but it was necessary, otherwise I would be lost.
I went to the closet, took one piece of clothing at a time and started to pack my bag very slowly. If I couldn’t speak normally to Tobias, let me put a little distance between us then. I just left a tank top and a pair of shorts on top of my bed for me to wear after the shower. If it were possible, I would stay here for the rest of my life. It was far from the city, far from my uncle, far from my reasons for going ahead with my revenge But the desire to not let my uncle live a happy life enjoying everything he had stolen from my family was greater than my desire to have a peaceful life. I preferred to feed that feeling of hatred for all the years. that happened while I was away, it would not be easy to throw it away if I happened to want it. Not even my love for Tobias that was blooming more and more was enough reason for me to leave everything I planned aside.
I finished organizing all my suitcase a couple of hours later and when I realized that I had been too slow, it was almost 10:00 in the morning. But even after that, I didn’t hurry. I went quietly into the bathroom and took a long and relaxing very cold bath, it was very hot. I dressed and fixed my hair with the same braid again, starting at the height of my shoulders and ending at the level of my hips. I would not let my hair down any more if I didn’t get wet I opened the door quietly, took a good look at my room and took a deep breath.
– I’ll miss you again. – I whispered very quietly.
I took my suitcase and went down the stairs going straight to the living room. Tobias was on the porch lying on one of our hammocks and when he saw me he jumped out of where he was and came to me.
– Let me help you. – he said extending his hands so he could take my bag.
– No\, thank you. – I said without looking at him and walked towards the car he had already picked up and parked as close to the house as possible.
He stayed behind to lock the house and because of that, I didn’t know exactly where the car was parked, so I was waiting for him halfway. When he saw me waiting for him, he came running towards me with a smile on his face. face.
– I knew you’d expect me. – he said smiling.
– Don’t be all happy. I’m waiting for you because I don’t know where the car is. – I replied looking at him with a bitter look.
He sighed and was sad again because of what I had just said, so he started walking to go to the car. Arriving there, he opened the trunk to put my suitcase and reached out to take it from me.
– I’ll put my suitcase in the car myself. – I said pulling the suitcase so he couldn’t get it.
He shrugged and waited for me to put the suitcase in the car so we could get in together. But that had been a bad idea. I didn’t have the strength to suspend it to put in the trunk. It was so contradictory. I had trained my strength in the martial arts school, but it only developed in my strokes. I didn’t have the strength to carry things.
I spent exactly two minutes trying to put the suitcase in the car and when I looked at Tobias, he had an even sadder look in his eyes.
– What happened ? – I asked.
– Please let me help you. – he said.
– Help me please. – I said looking into your eyes.
He immediately took my suitcase and put it in the car and closed the trunk. When I was walking to get in the car Tobias interrupted me by wrapping his arms around my body. He was shaking and hot, he even looked like he had a fever.
– Are you alright ? – I said surprised by that.
– No. – he answered me and I was worried.
– What’s wrong with you ? – I asked turning to look you in the eye.
– I ended up offending you and you don’t want to forgive me. I saw in your eyes how hard it was to swallow your pride to ask the person who hurt you to help you. – he replied.
– Tobias\, I understand that you want to find the person who is doing this with your family\, but it is not fair for you to doubt me that I am also part of the family. – I said looking into your eyes.
– I know. And I’m starting to go into complete despair just thinking about the probability that you’ll never forgive me and I end up losing you because of that. – he said and I saw his eyes starting to fill with tears.
After that I could no longer treat him the way I was treating him. At that moment nothing mattered to me anymore. Whether he doubted me or not, whether he knew the truth or not. I just hugged him as tightly as I did. I did it and buried my face in your chest.
– I forgive you. And you shouldn’t worry about that\, you won’t lose me. – I said looking into your eyes.
He hugged me back and buried his face in my hair. I felt his every breath and breath.
– Diana\, I love you. – he said.
– I love you too\, my cousin. – I replied right away.
I knew that what he meant by that phrase was a man’s love for a woman, but I wouldn’t say anything about my feelings until he spoke to me clearly about his feelings.
– Come on. It’s past our time to go home. – He said as he walked to open the car door so I could get in.
When he got in the car, he stared at me for a few seconds and then smiled. I saw that in his eyes it was as if he had found happiness in the midst of so much pain. I knew that look well. He started the car and we started our trip back to the city.
– Tobias. – I said.
– Hi. – he replied.
– Thank you for bringing me here. – I said while smiling and felt a tear run down my face\, but it was a tear of happiness.
He said nothing, just ran a finger over my face to dry my tear, nodded and smiled the entire time we were home.
