I don’t know when it all started. Ever since I was a kid, I felt a huge need to have you with me, to protect you.
But when I was only ten years old, I failed with my most important reason for existence. She could be dead somewhere and I couldn’t do anything to help her. I really was just a useless person who only I defended her from insects and took care of her small injuries obtained while playing.
And as if that feeling of helplessness was not enough, a year after her disappearance and the death of my uncles, my mother died.
My mother was the most loving and caring person I knew in my entire life. And her death was a very hard blow to me.
Apparently, I was destined to lose the people most important to me.
When I grew up, I had the idea of doing a secret search for her. I told my dad that I was going to travel. He wouldn’t miss me since he was already getting involved with the preparations for his wedding with Victoria.
My father had become involved with Victoria in the same year that my mother had died. Seven years later he decided to marry her and was doing everything very quickly.
I spent almost a month searching for her, but I never had a clue where her whereabouts were.
So I decided to give up looking for her and live my life always missing her presence.
I didn’t used to leave the house a lot. I didn’t have any friends because I had moved away from everything when she disappeared.
Already Edward, my younger brother goes out several times a day. He had no limits since he was a kid, I think he never missed our uncles since their murder and sometimes it seemed like he didn’t even remember her.
One day, almost a year later at our father’s wedding, he decided to go out for a night out. He said he would drink a lot and he wouldn’t come home. My father didn’t care about that, he just said something with a very wide smile on his face. face.
– Have a good time.
They were the same and I was sure of it. It made me ashamed of them. He didn’t really come back at night and I went to sleep after finishing reading a novel book. I never thought I would read novels before going to sleep.
I woke up to the sound of my father’s scream outside our house. I ran down the stairs to see what it was and as I passed through the front door of our house and went outside, I saw the body of my brother lying lifeless on the floor and beside him a written message that was shining in the sunlight. It looked like ice.
– “This was only the first. You will pay for all the bad things you did to me. Signed\, The Cold Witch.” – was what the message said.
“Who had been able to kill my brother?” “How did this happen ?” These were the questions that came to my mind at that moment while I felt powerless.
– CURSE BE THE COLD WITCH. – I screamed as I went back home with my chest burning with hate.
I felt the looks of my father and Victoria looking at me as I went up the stairs, but I didn’t give a damn about it.
I went into my room, locked the door, lay on my bed and started to cry. It was a mixture of feelings. Hate that they killed my brother. I loved him very much despite his way of life.
The next day we went to his funeral and after we got home, I went straight to my room. My father and Victoria stayed in the living room. They were saddened by the death of my brother, but even so they would not fail to show affection. in front of me. I couldn’t take it.
I spent exactly two months practically living in my room. I just went out to eat.
Until one day, Victoria came to talk to me.
– Tobias\, I know you miss Edward\, but you have your whole life ahead of you. I know it hurts to look at the house and not see him walking by\, but he wouldn’t like to see him like that. in that. – she said without entering my room.
I liked Victoria. She knew how to give me the space and the necessary privacy and always did everything to see us well. She took care of us since my mother died and because of that, I had an affection for her.
Resolve to listen to your advice. So I took a shower, dressed in black pants and a white short-sleeved shirt, both social and with a black shoe. I went downstairs and saw that both my father and Victoria seemed surprised by something.
– What happened ? – I asked as soon as I stopped next to them.
– I’m going outside quickly and I’ll be right back. – my father replied while leaving home.
– Victoria\, what’s going on? – I asked her.
– Your father went to solve a matter outside and will be back. – she answered me without answering my question.
A few minutes later, my father returns with a girl with hair and eyes as black as darkness and skin as white as snow.
It was her. The person I missed the most during these seven years she disappeared. The person I wanted most with me: Diana King, my cousin.
When I saw her approaching me, I started to get nervous.
– You changed a lot. You look beautiful. – I said when she stopped in front of me.
– You too. – she answered me.
Her voice was very soft at that moment. It looked like she had just whispered in my ear. I felt the back of my neck prickle.
I was dying to hug her as soon as she arrived, but I preferred to make room for her. I didn’t know what she would have gone through or her traumas.
We talked a lot that afternoon and I was surprised when she said she wanted to take over the presidency of the family group, the Kingdom. Soon after dinner and returned to her home.
I went to my room to get ready to sleep but my head and heart were bursting with happiness.
– I will invite you for a walk tomorrow. – I whispered to myself as I tried to fall asleep that night.
I woke up very early the next day. I took a shower and already separated my clothes that I intended to use to go and get it. I spent the whole morning wondering where to take it to have fun and enjoy an afternoon together.
After so much thinking, I decided to just take her out for lunch. Leave home around noon.
My father had gone outside to see if Victoria was coming back so they could have lunch, but he was taking too long. So I went out to see the reason for his delay. Only I didn’t wait for what was about to happen.
As soon as I walked out of the front door of our house, I saw a blue statue positioned near the entrance gate to our land and my father cried out beside him. I ran towards him and understood the reason for my father’s despair. : it was Victoria who had been turned into an ice statue.
– Dad. – I called him.
– Stay away. No one will take me away from her. – he replied shouting.
I took out my cell phone and called the police. As soon as I finished talking to the police, I went to Diana’s house to see if everything was okay with her and ask her to come and help us. I couldn’t think of anything at that moment.
I took my car and headed out to his house.
When I got there, I think she heard the noise of the car because she left as soon as I got out of the car. And I couldn’t wait to speak.
– Diana\, come with me. There was a tragedy. – I said a little upset.
– What happened ? You look pale. – she asked me with a tone of concern.
– It’s Victoria. Something terrible happened to her. – I replied\, unable to contain my tears.
She hurriedly got in the car and came with me to my house, getting there, she understood everything and also tried to take my father away from that statue that was Victoria.
– Uncle. – she called him as she got out of the car.
– Get out of here. Don’t try to get me out of here either. Nobody’s going to touch her. – my father was totally beside himself while shouting those words and crying.
I didn’t know what to do. That feeling of helplessness came again and I started shaking my head negatively.
– What are we going to do Tobias? The way he looks\, he won’t want anyone to do anything to help him. – she asked me when she saw how scared I was.
– I have no idea. – I answered.
After hours and hours trying to get my dad out of that place, we managed to get him into the house.
– How are we going to bury her? It is very likely that it will fall to pieces when pulled out of there. – he asked calmly to me. He had taken several medicines to calm himself.
I didn’t know how to answer, so just keep quiet holding one of your arms.
– Uncle\, I’m sorry for what happened to Victoria. But you have to be strong for her. – said Diana.
– Dad\, you should try to rest. Let me take care of the whole funeral. – I said while helping my father up the stairs to go to his room.
When I managed to get my father to lie on the bed, I stayed very little time by his side, because I heard Diana’s screams coming from the living room.
– Help.Uncle Augustos\, Tobias.Help. – I heard their screams louder and louder as I opened the bedroom door.
– What is happening ? You look pale. – I asked as soon as she turned into the hall.
– I was leaving the living room to go up the stairs to see how your father was doing and something strange happened on the wall of the front door of the house. – She said while looking very upset.
We went down the stairs and then I understood the reason for his inconvenience. I went into shock and stood completely looking at the wall of the front door of the house.
– “Don’t worry\, you can relax. You will be last.” – was what was written in ice on the wall.
I put my hands on my head and started walking towards the living room to sit on one of the sofas and Diana came after me.
– What do we do ? If your dad sees this\, he’ll be even more scared of all that happened. – she asked me\, but I didn’t answer.
It took me about ten minutes to talk to her.
– Do you know how Edward died? – I asked her.
– What I learned is that it was stabbed in the heart. – she answered me what had been published in the city’s newspapers.
– It was not stabbed. The holes in his left chest were so small that I would risk saying they were made by nails. – I said looking at her while my chest burned with hate and anger.
– I had no idea. – she replied while she was sad about it.
– I have no idea what we’re up against or who’s doing it with my family. But I swear\, when I find out\, I won’t have mercy on revenge. – I said while I felt a growing pain in my hands that were closed in the shape of a fist ready to punch something or someone.
– Tobias\, your hands. – she told me and then I realized the reason for the pain\, I had cut myself with my own nails. – Come\, I’ll clean and make a dressing. Where is the first aid box? – she told me.
– It’s not necessary. Come\, I’ll take you home. – I said reaching for the door.
I took her home, but I didn’t want her to be alone at her house. She was just a fifteen-year-old girl living in the most remote house in the city of Diamond. So I had an idea.
I think you better stay a few days at home. It’s not safe for you to be alone here. Besides your house being the furthest from the city. – I said.I was really worried about your safety.
I wouldn’t take no for an answer. I wanted her as close to me as possible.
– I have many things to do here at home. I have many documents from the group to study. – she answered me.
– We do it like this\, you stay tonight\, tomorrow I’ll come back to pick you up. I won’t be calm knowing that you are alone here. – I insisted.
– Okay. Since you insisted. Today I will organize clothes to take to your house when you come to pick me up tomorrow. I will also separate the documents that still need to be studied. – she said finally giving in to my request.
We said goodbye, I went around the car and went home. When I got there, my father was still asleep. I was not hungry and I didn’t have the head to do anything, so I left to organize the burial early in the morning.
– I didn’t tell her it’s going to be tomorrow. – I said putting my hand on the test while lying in bed.
I took out my cell phone and texted her saying:
“Victoria’s burial will be at eight in the morning tomorrow. Be here before that.”
Maybe she was sleeping during the time I sent the message, because she didn’t answer me.
I turned on the bed to look at the ceiling and ended up sleeping.
I woke up very early and arranged everything for the funeral. When I came home, my father invited me to his office and he told me everything he had done to Diana’s family in the past. as in his voice as he reported every detail of everything.
– Dad\, this is absurd. How were you able to do all this with Diana’s parents and still look and talk to her as if nothing had happened? – I said after knowing his true face. I was disappointed to see that there was so much envy within my own family.
– Do you know how I was able? I am an illegitimate son of the late Mr King whose mother of my older brother hated him and so he did not allow me to have access to the family fortune for years. His uncle never cared about my origin and loved me. He passed away\, he made a point of dividing his entire fortune in half so that he could share with me. I never saw this gesture as a form of justice\, but of charity. It has since been that I became the only member of the Kingdom group\, already that my dear older brother was the heir. That’s why I did what I did with his family\, my son. I did it to give you a promising future. To guarantee the livelihood of our family. reason to justify.
– Father\, even though you are a partner\, we already had a great life. You had no need to have her and her parents murdered. And not satisfied with everything you did\, you still want me to be part of your dirty little job.- I said shortly thereafter.
– Tobias\, you will do nothing but seduce her. – he told me in the biggest wooden face.
– FATHER\, SHE’S ONLY FIFTEEN YEARS OLD. – I screamed.
– Tomorrow she will turn sixteen. Son\, relax. You will only combine the useful with the pleasant. Didn’t you say you think you are in love with your little cousin? So\, if you stay with her and do everything to get married\, you will be entitled to her inheritance. he said cynically.
– Dad\, I won’t do that. I don’t care about goods or wealth\, I care even less about the Kingdom group. – I replied. I didn’t want to be part of it.
– But you care about me don’t you? If you care about your father’s life\, you will do whatever it takes to keep her fully occupied with you so she doesn’t finish studying the group’s documents and discover that your father has embezzled all the money from the capital to enjoy everything .If she finds out\, she’ll have every right to take back what’s hers and put me in jail. She’s always been a smart girl. It won’t be long before she finds out the whole truth. If you don’t that I ask you\, I will have to make drastic decisions to find you. – said my own father blackmailing me.
– Dad\, don’t try to do anything with her. I’ll do what you ask. But not to attend to her whims\, but to defend Diana’s life. – I said giving in to his request.
– Good boy ! – My father said while clapping his hands looking at me.
I didn’t want to argue with him anymore and it seemed that the universe was in my hands, because at that moment, Diana came calling us.
– Uncle\, Tobias\, I’m here.
And I left my father’s office as quickly as possible. The air was too heavy there. I went down the stairs and went towards her.
– Good morning Diana. You look beautiful\, – I said as I got close to her. I hugged her and when I released her\, I kissed her on the forehead. I didn’t mind giving her space. I was happy to see her. right in front of me.
A little while after she arrived, we went to Victoria’s burial. I wanted to leave the cemetery very quickly, I couldn’t stand that environment.
I left my father at home and took her to her house to pick up her things. I chose to wait outside so that she would be comfortable arranging things. She returned in a very short time and we went to my house.
