Shortly thereafter, Rose returned home with the medicine the doctor had prescribed for Tobias. I called him in the softest possible voice so as not to scare him.
– Tobias.
He slowly opened his eyes, closed it again and put one of his arms over his eyes. I thought he was back to sleep. Until finally he said something after a few seconds:
– The light.
I stood up and turned off all the lights in his room, leaving only the sunlight to illuminate a little so I could see.
– Those are your remedies. Sit down to take them. – I said opening one of the pill boxes.
– I hate medicine. – he said without moving.
– I know you don’t like it since you were little. But if you didn’t want to take medicine\, you wouldn’t have been sick from going out at dawn. – I scolded him.
– If you hadn’t rejected me\, I wouldn’t have left at dawn to start the conversation. – He countered.
I felt a twinge of guilt over that and was silent, not knowing what to do. It was at that moment that he removed his arm from his eyes and saw the sad expression on my face.
– I shouldn’t have said that\, sorry. – he said as he sat down. – Give me those remedies so I can get rid of them soon. – He said extending his hand.
I laughed at his comment and passed him the pills and a glass of water to him. He took them all as quickly as possible and always grimaced when the pills went down his throat.
– This is weird. – I talked.
– What ? – he asked with his tongue out.
– It is the first time that I see someone so fresh to take medicine. If it were liquid\, I would understand\, but pills ?! – I said looking at him while trying to hold a laugh that was stuck in my throat.
– You’ll find something you don’t like at all. When that happens\, you’ll understand. – he said giving me tongue.
We laughed because of his clowning and made him lie down again. I kept putting the cold water compress on his forehead until he fell asleep. I took the thermometer and went to measure his temperature, which when I arrived, it was close to 40 degrees now it was 36 degrees.
– Good. What a scare you gave me. – I said quietly not to wake him up.
I kissed him lightly on the forehead and turned to leave his room. But I stopped because I felt his hand on my wrist.
– Stay a little longer\, please. – he said opening his eyes.
– You need to rest Tobias. – I said.
– I’m resting\, but I also want your company. – He said pouting and putting a sad look in his eyes.
I ended up giving in to his request and sat down again, took one of his hands and played with his hair. When I least expected it, I fell asleep sitting on the chair and with my torso and head resting on his bed while I held one. from your hands.
I woke up when I felt something touch my cheek. I recognized it right away. It was Tobias’s soft lips.
– Diana. – he called me softly and I felt the whole right side of my body shiver because of that.
– Huuum.
– Wake up. You will get back pain if you stay lying like this. – he said
– How are you ? – I asked while getting up and stretching.
– Brand new. – he said with a wide smile on his face.
So I got up from the chair and put my hand on his forehead and mine to make sure his fever was really gone.
– Really. – I said smiling.
As soon as I smiled, I didn’t even have time to react. He wrapped his arms around my whole body and buried his face in my lap.
– Tobias … – I said feeling a little uncomfortable with the situation.
– Don’t worry\, I won’t do anything with you. – he said.
So I hugged him back and waited until he let me go.
– I just wanted to thank you for staying by my side all afternoon taking care of me. – he said looking me in the eyes.
– You’ve taken care of me so much. It’s the least I could do. – I said smiling.
– What do you think about dinner out today? – he asked.
– Put your fire down. You just recovered from a fever and headache\, what do you want to go out for? – I asked answering his question.
– As a thank you. – He said smiling and raising an eyebrow. Did I say I get lost with this combination full of charm?
I took a deep breath to concentrate and ended up giving in to his request.
– I’ll get ready. I promise not to delay.
– Take your time. – he said going towards the bathroom.
I left his room and went straight to mine to get ready. While I was taking my shower, I was looking in my mind for a way to kill the doctor without being caught by the cameras. He was not part of my uncle’s family and I was running away from my original plan a little bit, but I needed to hurt him and I wouldn’t use Tobias for that, otherwise I would be destroying the only good thing my uncle had given me.
– This is going to be difficult. – I said while closing the shower.
I left the bathroom and went to choose an outfit so I could wear it. I didn’t want to wear a dress, I had worn it a lot during these months that I was at my uncle’s house. a black high heel and a black bag. I did a makeup that highlighted my eyes well and the usual braid in my hair starting at shoulder height. I put on my glasses and left my room. Tobias left his room at the same moment and I started to laugh because he was dressed in the same pieces of clothing in color.
– We’re a couple. – he said taking a little walk.
– It is true. – I said taking a walk too.
– Let’s go ? – he asked\, extending his arm so I could hold it.
– Let’s go. – I said with a smile on my face while holding his arm.
We went down the stairs and Rose was setting the dinner table. I felt sorry that he hadn’t told her that we were going out and she had all the trouble putting everything in place.
– Rose\, only my dad and the doctor are going to dinner today. I’m going out with Diana and we don’t have time to go back. – he said and I looked at him amazed by his last words.
– Okay sir. Have a good night. – she said waving her hand.
We waved back and left. So I decided to say something about his words.
– Do we have time to go back?
– Don’t worry. I said I won’t do anything with you and I won’t. I just want to spend a night admiring the sky with the person I love by my side. – he said.
As soon as he finished speaking, I felt my face heat up. I was pretty sure the world was red and when he realized that, he smiled.
We got in the car and headed towards Shopping Paradise.
– Are we going to have dinner here? – I asked getting out of the car.
– I made a reservation for dinner on the terrace of the mall as it is one of the highest places in the city. We will be able to see “a little more closely” the sky. – he said while giving me his arm again.
We started walking through the mall before going up to dinner. Suddenly I saw a person I had forgotten who could bump me at any moment, Marshall Prince. I started to get nervous when I realized he was walking towards us.
– Good night\, Mr. King\, Miss King. – He said stopping in front of Tobias.
– Good evening. – Tobias and I answered at the same moment.
– I hope you enjoy the shopping tour of the Paradise group. Anything\, you can find me. – he said looking at me.
Tobias didn’t seem to like it at all. He had an angry expression in his eyes.
– If Mr. Prince excuses us\, we have dinner to go. – Tobias said holding my hand.
– Sure. Enjoy the night. – he said leaving Tobias’ front so we could pass.
Tobias started to calm down after we got on the elevator.
– Try to stay as far away from him as possible. He really wants to have something with you. – Tobias said looking at me.
I didn’t say anything, I just nodded positively. Upon reaching the top floor of the mall, we stepped out of the elevator and I was surprised by what I saw.
There was a restaurant on the terrace of the mall and its walls and roof were made of transparent glass.
– We will certainly be able to admire the night here. – I said smiling.
– I knew you would like it. – he said smiling back.
We sat down at our table and had an amazing dinner. Then we went to the part of the restaurant’s balcony that had no glass so we could admire the night even more as we felt the wind touch our skin. Suddenly I felt Tobias’s arms wrapping my waist from behind.
– Tobias\, we’re in public. – I said trying to scold him.
– Just relax. We don’t owe anyone anything. – he said leaning his chin on my head.
He was right. We didn’t need anyone’s approval to be able to be embraced. After what he said, I just relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful landscape that was right in front of us with Tobias and me embraced.
