When I was 22, it was 4 years ago that I had officially assumed the presidency of my family group. I still hadn’t been able to find the evidence against my uncle regarding the theft of Kingdom capital, so I had to get one loan at the bank so that I could start raising the group. When I went to the bank, I heard the conversation that it was too young to be able to get the amount of approximately one million dollars. And I only got the money, after they learned that family I came.
– If you had said earlier\, I would have released the credit myself immediately. – the bank owner told me.
I didn’t like using my family’s name to get things done, but it saved me sometimes.
I had managed to reopen the abandoned building that belonged to the Kingdom group, which was located in the city center of Diamond. I did the renovation and opened the hotel to the public.
In the first month, it was possible to make a little profit and I was very happy with it.
I did not allow my uncle to have access to anything in the group and neither did Tobias either. I wanted to do everything myself the way I had planned, and it was working.
When I assumed the presidency, my uncle had already fully recovered from that suicide attempt that went very wrong for him, and threw a very luxurious party as a celebration.
– Please my dear\, you deserve all the honors. – he said to convince me to have the party.
I just accepted that he had this party, so that everyone would know that I was going to rebuild the Kingdom group and that our hotels would be ready as soon as possible to receive them.
During the party, Tobias didn’t leave my side since the moment he had spotted Marshall Prince in the hall. I didn’t like that jealous side of him. it upset me a lot.
– Tobias\, you cannot prevent other men from approaching me. I will start work and there will be some that I will need to keep close by. – I said it.
– But as long as you are my girlfriend\, I will not allow this one to come near you. – He said referring to Marshall.
– There’s the problem. I’m not your girlfriend. – I talked.
– I thought that when you turned eighteen\, you would be ready to have the relationship with me. – he replied with a surprised look in his eyes.
– It wasn’t just age that kept me from having something with you. I want to finish my goals first. My priorities. – I said it and it was true.
– And I am not part of these priorities? – he asked without looking me in the eye.
– Yes. – I told him the truth again despite the pain I felt when he asked me that question.
After that, he left me alone for the entire party and I was able to chat quietly with all the guests.
But going back to my 22 years … Finally I was going to the bank to pay off once and for all the loan I had taken.
When I got there, when I was about to leave the elevator I heard a shout:
– AS MISS KING ARRIVES\, YOU DO NOT NEED TO ADVERTISE IT. JUST DRIVE IT TO MY ROOM.
And I heard a door slam. I got out of the elevator and the secretary was already getting up to receive me.
– Good morning\, Miss King. Mr. Evans is already waiting for you. – she said as she held out her hand so I could pass.
– Thank you Emily. – I said smiling as I passed to go to Mr. Evans’ office.
– Sir\, you have arrived. – said Emily as she opened the door.
– I said I didn’t need to announce you stupid. – said the man shouting.
– I’m sorry sir. Come\, miss\, you can come in. – said Emily.
I was thanking him as I walked through the door for not having to step on that spot and look at the face of this thick man.
– Miss King! Good to see you here. – he said while extending his hand to greet me.
– Hello\, Mr. Evans. How have you been? – I replied by greeting him back.
– Very well\, thank you. Miss is always on time with her affairs. She didn’t have to be so dedicated. – he told me.
– I like to keep my word\, sir. Here is the envelope with the last installment of the loan I took with your bank. Can you sign here? – I asked him.
I made him sign all receipts for all installments of the loan so that he could not arrange anything that was against me.
– Of course\, miss. – he said taking a pen in his hand.
He signed and I couldn’t contain a happy smile that formed in my mouth. Everything was as I had wished.
– Here\, miss. – he said as he passed me the receipt.
– Thank you very much. But I wanted to give you some advice. – I said.
– You can talk\, miss. – he replied.
– I suggest you fire your secretary. – I talked.
– I would do it anyway. She’s an incompetent. I’m sorry for the inconvenience she caused you. – he said as we walked towards the door.
– That’s all. Have a good day\, Mr. Evans. – I told him.
– You too. – he replied and then immediately closed the door to the room.
– Emily\, in the late afternoon\, come look for me in my office. That’s the address. – I asked for it and gave her a business card.
– Okay\, miss. Have a great day. – she said.
– You too. – I answered.
I took the elevator down and was able to go back to my office, but when I reached the ground floor and the elevator doors opened, I saw Marshall about to enter the same elevator as me.
– Are you leaving already? – he asked me.
– Yes. Today I have reason to celebrate. – I replied with a smile on my face.
– After here\, I’ll stop by your office. – he said.
– Okay! – I replied and kept walking.
I was sure that from then on, everything would work out in my life. But there was one thing that was missing so that I could totally free myself from my past: Complete my revenge.
I didn’t take any taxi, I just walked quietly back to my office that was in the hotel that I had managed to reopen and when I got there, I entered my room and started to admire the view that I had from above the whole city of Diamond while I waited for the hours to pass.
