It felt like it had been very easy to leave the city of Diamond, but it wasn’t. Leaving behind the city where I was born and raised, the city where all my memories were, good or bad, was heartbreaking.
But I had to do that. Accepting the request that Marshall had made to me was the best decision I could have made.
Leaving the city of Diamond, I went straight to my family’s beach house. But the fact that I was away from everything made me feel increasingly lonely as the days went by. So, after a month’s stay, I left the house and went to the city of Silver. It was approximately 700 km away from the city of Diamond.
It was a small city, but with beautiful landscapes and charms. I felt good staying there. However, the fact that the city of Silver is so far from the city if Diamond, made me miss my hometown very much.
But I couldn’t go back at all. I was afraid of being reported and arrested or killed by Diana.
Ah, Diana. Even after all that, I still missed her. I had become a horrible person for being rejected. I felt disgusted by the extreme actions I had taken in those days.
If it weren’t for that, I would be holding Diana in my arms right now. How dumb I was.
After almost five months in the city of Silver, I decided to leave the city. I was living a comfortable life, but I felt lonely. Changing cities wouldn’t solve the problem, but it would make me feel closer to home.
I moved to the city of Platinum, which was 100 km from Diamond. In the city of Silver, I had chosen to stay in one of the houses that my father had bought shortly after giving us the news that the Kingdom group had If I had known what my father really was like, I would never have believed that lie.
Upon arriving in the city of Platinum, I decided that I would stay at one of the hotels of the Kingdom group.
Maybe I was doing one of the biggest stunts of my life. But at least in the Kingdom hotels there would be people with whom I could at least say a “good morning”.
I parked the car in front of the hotel, picked up my bags and entered the building. I went straight to the reception. A girl answered with a smile on her face.
– Good afternoon sir. How can I help you? – she asked me politely.
– Good afternoon. I’d like a room\, please. – I answered.
– Okay. What would be your preference? – she asked me.
– One of the simplest. – I said next.
It’s true, I had enough money to pay for the presidential suite or any other more luxurious room. But I didn’t want to spend all the money my father had left just to live in luxury. I was living alone, I didn’t have to or for those who squander my wealth.
– Right. I need your identification document. – she spoke politely while typing on her keyboard on the computer in front of her.
– Here it is. – I said while giving him my identity.
While she checked everything, I was watching the details of the building. Diana had done a great job reopening all the hotels. All of them had the colors white and gold as standard. I think these colors gave an air of royalty in the environment.
– Mr. King\, here’s your ID and your room key. It’s on the 5th floor and the number is 1618. – She said as she handed me back my ID and passed me the room key.
– Thank you. – I replied while walking towards the elevator.
I waited for about two minutes for one of the elevators to reach the ground floor and after taking it, I reached my room in an instant. I took the key out of my pocket and opened the door. As soon as I entered, I realized that even though it was a simple room , it was quite luxurious.
The decor and colors matched the rest of the hotel. It really had an air of royalty everywhere. I went to the room to unpack my bags, but the doorbell rang and I went to see who it could be.
– Good afternoon\, Mr. King. Sorry for the inconvenience. But I brought the newspaper with the news of the day. – said a boy as soon as I opened the door.
– Thank you and good evening. – I thanked.
He nodded, turned and started walking down the hall.
I closed the door and soon sat on the couch to look at the newspaper. I didn’t have this habit before being alone in the world, but I ended this craze because of that.
As soon as I looked at the front page of the newspaper, I felt like my heart had a little stop and returned to normal right away. The news was taking up the entire front cover of the newspaper. I couldn’t believe what I had just read.
“President of the Kingdom group and heir to the Paradise group announce engagement and wedding at their anniversary party, which was held on March 30th.”
Below the title was a picture of Marshall on his knees holding a ringed box in front of Diana.
I couldn’t contain the sadness that was forming in my chest and tears soon started to flow down my face.
– If I hadn’t been wrong with her\, who would be in this photo would be me. – I said as I tore the newspaper to pieces.
I didn’t want to see that in front of me anymore. That was a shock to me. I didn’t know how to react when I saw that.
So I just took out my cell phone and wallet, went downstairs to the hotel and went to one of the bars inside.
– What do you want sir? – asked the bartender.
– A whiskey please. – I answered.
Then he turned his back, took a glass and a bottle, placed it on the counter and poured me a shot.
– A whiskey. – said the bartender shortly after.
– Thank you. – I said and then took a sip.
I didn’t drink for no reason. Whenever I drank alcohol it was for a special occasion. But in that moment of sadness, I felt the need to drown my sorrows in this way.
I spent the whole afternoon drinking. When I decided to stop it was after 7 pm. I paid the bill and started walking towards the exit of the bar. I passed the reception staggering all over the place. Then suddenly I felt someone hold me so I support me and walk firmly so I wouldn’t fall flat on my face. When I looked to see who it was, I was surprised to see the receptionist who organized all my lodging.
– You are very bad. – she said while calling the elevator.
– I know that. – I answered.
– I’ll help you get to your room. – she said.
– But what about your job? – I asked with my whole tongue curled by the fact that I was completely drunk.
– I finished my job for today and tomorrow I’m off. And I’m also staying at the hotel. It won’t cost me much time to leave you in your room. – she replied smiling.
– Thanks\, yeah … – I said while waiting for her to say her name.
– Elena. My name is Elena. – she said when she realized.
– Thank you very much\, Elena. – I thanked him right away.
We entered the elevator and soon arrived at my floor. We walked to my bedroom door and tried to put the key in the lock to open, but it was in vain. I was seeing everything twice and I was dizzy. Elena took the key from my hand and opened the door. As soon as I entered the room, I threw myself on the sofa and blacked out.
