David called his secretary and asked him to find out Rachel’s address. After sometime David got to know Rachel’s present address. He didn’t do anything that day. He planned on making it up to Rachel by being by her side everyday.
Rachel slept peacefully that night. She didn’t owe David anything now. David knew the truth and so her guilt was gone now that she hid the incident from David. She hugged her son Alex and went to sleep that night.
The next day she woke up and did her daily routine. Everything was as usual but suddenly her door bell rang. Everyone was busy so Rachel opened the door. She didn’t see anyone outside. But her eyes looked down to find a bouquet of flowers a letter and a gift box kept in front of the door.
She again looked everywhere to check of anyone was there. But she saw no one. She observed the things to see if they were safe or not. After assuring that there was nothing suspicious inside them she took them inside the house. Rachel closed the door.
What Rachel didn’t notice was someone smiling in happiness after she took the gift box. David was there and he had given those to Rachel. After seeing her taking those he went towards his car and drove back in satisfaction. He woke up early to deliver them to Rachel especially.
Rachel took the bouquet and kept it in a noticeable place. Then she opened the gift box. Inside there was a ring kept. It was unique and by looking at it anyone could tell it was really expensive. Out if all the things Rachel didn’t expect it to be a ring. When she was about to keep the ring back she suddenly noticed something engraved on it’s inside.
“Pour toujours je suis à toi” She read. At first glance she knew what the meaning of that line was. It was in French and it meant “Forever I’m yours” in English. Now she was even more curious to open the letter. She carefully opened it so as not to create a fold in the letter accidentally. The handwriting was beautiful.
By seeing it once Rachel knew whose letter it was. How could she not recognise the handwriting of the one she loved with her life? It was written by David. There were many mistakes in it. So she could have guessed that he had written and again corrected many lines.
She didn’t read it but tears were falling from her eyes. She had never expected that one day David will give a letter to her. And he will put so much thought into writing it. She moved her fingers over the paper. Happy memories between her and David flashed past her mind. A smile spread across her face. But then she was reminded of his cold treatment. Her smile vanished instantly.
She debated internally whether to read the letter or not. Finally her curiosity won and she started reading it.
