Chris got into his car and start driving.
“What the hell is happening to me?” He said to himself. “I’ve never let a woman get under my skin like this before.”
“So why am I letting Esther?”
“The other members think I’m going soft. I have to put a stop to that. I command respect from all Dragon members and they need to remember that.
Simon, Jacob, and David are like my brothers. But I still command respect from them and they give it. Gina is crossing the line lately and it’s time to put her in her place. And as for Esther she’s too close, that’s the problem. I’ve let my guard down with her and it needs to stop. She needs to move out. I’m certain of that. So why does my chest tighten at the thoughts of not seeing her everyday?”
Meanwhile back at the penthouse.
“Chris didn’t even talk to me when he got home. He just mumbled that he was going to bed. What if he want me out of The Fire Breathing Dragons? Where will I go? What will I do? I’m going to bed.” She said to herself.
Chris got up from a loud noise.
“What the hell was that?” He said. “GUNSHOT!”
He crouch down and looking for his gun.
“Come on, come on, where the hell is my gun?”
He went to go find Sam in his room.
“Sam!?” He shouted. “Where the hell is he?”
Chris got out from the room and started looking for Sam. He bumped into Esther.
“What’s going on?” Said Esther.
“I think we’re under attack. Did you see Sam?”
“No.”
“Ok, stay behind me.”
Chris pull out his phone and call Jacob.
“Jacob, it’s me, we’re under attack in the penthouse.”
“Esther’s with me but I can’t find Sam.”
“Ok, hurry.”
End call.
“Esther go to my room. There’s a secret door under the rug. Go down to the safe room and stay there until I come and find you.”
“Please, no, I don’t want to go alone.”
“Dammit, Esther, just go. I have to find Sam.”
They both went a separate way.
Chris went into the living.
“Don’t f*cking move.”
“Boss, drop the gun, it’s us.” Said Simon.
“Did you see anyone?” Said Chris.
“No, boss, whoever was here is gone.”
“I want to know who was behind the attack tonight. Put the word out for information.” He said angrily.
“Boss..” Jacob said in a sad voice.
“What?”
“Sit down, boss.” Said Simon.
“I don’t want to f*cking sit down!”
“Boss.” Said Jacob.
“What’s wrong?”
They all went down to the game room.
As he got down there he saw his brother lying down the floor.
“Sam?!”
He ran over to Sam.
“Sam? Sam! Sam, please wake up.” He cried.
“Jesus Christ, Sam. Please, Sam wake up.”
Jacob POV:
In all the years I’ve known Chris I have never seen him cry. But he’s crying now. His roars are echoing around the building and he looks defeated. I want to confort him but I know to stay away. God help whoever is behind this attack because when Christopher finds out he will be coming for them. And he shows no mercy. Myself, Simon, and David stand with our heads bowed. And we will stay like this as long as boss needs us.
“My little brother is dead.” He said to himself and then screams.
“Esther, it’s Jacob, come up.”
“Jacob, thank god it’s you. I was so scared.”
As I look at his face I know something badly happen.
“Is everything ok?” I asked him.
Jacob didn’t answer and my breath caught in my throat. I could feel my chest tightening.
“Is it Chris?”
“No.”
“Then who?” I ask curiously.
“Sam.” He said coldly.
Sam is dead? I felt what little air I had left in my lungs being sucked out of me. Like someone had punched me in the stomach.
“Please, no, not Sam. Not sweet little Sam.” I cried.
The next few days blurred into one. The smell of grief that hung in the air was suffocating. I haven’t seen Chris since that night. And even though nobody said anything. I could see the worry on the faces of his mens.
(A few days later)
I was worried about Chris so I tried to go check up on him. When I got outside his room I saw Simon guarding the door.
“Can I see him?” I said to Simon.
“No sorry, Esther, he isn’t seeing anyone. You should get ready for the funeral, the cars will be here soon. “
I sadly walk away to my room.
“Chris still hasn’t come out of his room. And either Jacob, Simon, or David have been guarding his door all the time. Day and night. I think they fear that whoever was behind the attack will come back for Chris when he’s at his lowest. There hasn’t been any word yet on who was behind the attack. But I know as soon as the funeral is over they won’t stop looking until they find out who it was.”
Esther went to go change her clothes.
“Time to go.”
“For the whole journey nobody spoke. Chris does not look good. His jaw is clenched the whole time. I stay looking at the floor not wanting to make eye contact with any of them.”
(At the funeral)
“I promise you, Sam, that I’ll get them. Every single one of them. I’ll avenge your death and I will destroy them all. If it’s the last thing I do.”
(1 week later)
At the warehouse
Jacob came in running to Chris and said “Chris, I know who it was.”
“Who?”
“The Green Skulls. It was Vincent and Brandon at the penthouse that night. But the word going around is that it was Vincent who shot Sam. But they’re gone to ground, Boss. They haven’t been seen since they shot Sam.”
“Find them!” Said Chris. “I want a list of all their family members. And I will stay killing them one by one until they come out of hiding.”
Esther came in and hear what Chris had say.
“Chris, no. You said you wouldn’t kill innocent people. You promised.”
“An eye for an eye.” He said.
