(A few hours later)
After a long day of shopping they both decided to go eat in a restaurant.
“My feet are killing me.”
“I love to shop.” Said Lydia.
“I can see that.”
“I feel like a cocktail.” She said looking on the menu. “You can have a mocktail.” She said to
Esther.
*Esther laughs*
“Maybe I misjudged Lydia. Her and Chris seem really close. I should make an effort to get along with her.”
“Are you ok?” Esther ask her.
“I just miss Daniel so much. Sometimes I forget that he’s dead. And then it hits me all over again.” She said sadly.
“I’m sorry, were you very close?”
“Yeah, it was always me, Daniel and Chris against the world when we were younger. They spent every summer in Japan when we were growing up.”
“Sound like you all had a lot of fun.”
“We did. Then his parents were killed and he had to take over The Fire Breathing Dragons.”
“I asked him to leave The Fire Breathing Dragons last night.”
“What?!” Lydia startles. “Damn, girl, you’ve got balls.”
“He was furious, he barely spoke to me today.”
“I’m not surprised. Don’t you know Chris at all?”
“I guess not.”
“Esther, Chris will never leave The Fire Breathing Dragons. They’re his family. His men are his brothers. They’ve got him through some of the darkest times in his life. They would die for him and he would die for them. I guess you have to figure out which you want more?”
“What do you mean?”
“Do you want Chris the Leader of The Fire Breathing Dragons? Or are you happy to live without him?”
“I would never leave Chris.”
“Maybe not, but he’ll leave you if you make him choose.”
*Lydia phone rings*
“Chris? Ok, we’ll be there soon.”
“What’s going on?” Esther ask.
“Chris is at my parents house for dinner. He wants you to come there with me instead of going home.”
“And he couldn’t tell me that himself?”
“I told you, he’s the incredible sulk.”
*They both laughs*
(They both arrives home)
“You talk to your wife and sort this sh*t out.” Lydia said to Chris.
“Excuse me?”
“Remember what I said?” She said to Esther.
“I will.”
Lydia walk away.
“New best friend?”
“I was being a b*tch, Lydia’s great, I’m sorry.”
“Look Esther…”
I went up to him and hugged him.
“I’m so sorry, Chris. I didn’t mean it. I would never make you choose between me and The Fire Breathing Dragons.”
“Esther.”
“Chris, please, I love you. I don’t care about anything else, all I need is you.”
“I love you too, but you need to be sure. Because I’m never leaving the Dragons.”
“I’m sure, Chris, I promise.”
Suddenly Chris phone start ringing.
“David?”
“Boss, we were attacked.”
“What? Where’s Liam?!”
“Chris, what’s wrong?” Said Esther.
“Boss, Liam’s fine.”
*He breathe in*
“Esther, Liam’s fine.”
“David, what the f*ck happened?”
“Is everything ok? I heard shouting.”Said Kenny.
“There was an attack back home.” Said Esther.
“I’m on the next flight home, David.”
He ended the call.
“Kenny, I need you to get the jet ready.”
“What happened? Is Liam ok?”
“Liam’s fine, it was a small attack by the Surotos. But I need to get home now and end them once and for all.”
“I’ll get the jet ready immediately.”
“I’m so scared, Chris.”
“It’s going to be ok, babe, come here.”
He hugged her.
“I’m never leaving him again.” Said Esther.
“I know.”
(A few weeks later, back in Shanghai)
“David, I want a meeting with you and Collins in an hour. No, we’ll meet down at the warehouse.” He said on the phone.
“Where are you going?”
“Morning, beautiful.”
“Morning.”
“I’m going to the warehouse for a few hours.”
“Can’t you have breakfast first?”
“Now that you mention it, I am a bit hungry. But it’s not for food.”
“I have to get Liam his breakfast.”
“Is that a no?”
“It’s most definitely a no, now go to your meeting.”
“Babe, you’re killing me here.”
“Chris, I feel like a whale.”
“Well you definitely don’t look like a whale.”
“Are you trying to seduce me, Mr Wang?”
“Is it working, Mrs Wang?”
“Maybe.”
He pull me closer and kisses me.
(A few hours later)
“Well look who finally decided to join us. Two hours late.” Said David.
“Sorry, got held up.”
“Is the wife wearing you out?”
“Idiots! Right let’s get down to business. Collins, has David filled you in on your new responsibilities?”
“He has, boss.”
“As for now, Collins, you’re Liam’s bodyguard. His safety is your number one priority.”
“Got it.”
“Next on the list is The Surotos. Are we finally ready to hit that last safe house.”
“We are. From what we know all the remaining members meet there every Wednesday night.” Said David.
“Then we’ll blow it Wednesday night. I don’t want any loose ends, no screw ups. This ends now.”
“No problem.”
“Collins, now that you’re Liam’s bodyguard you’ll be living at the house.”
“Ok.”
“Speaking of moving in. I’ll have someone move into my room. ” Said David.
“Someone?”
“A woman.”
“Since when have you got a woman? Now is it an actual real life woman? Or is it possible that it’s a blow up doll?”
“For f*ck sake, Chris, you’re not going to make this easy for me, are you?”
“Nope.”
“I’m out, chat you both later.” Said Collins.
“Waiting…”
“Fine, her name’s Lexi. I’ve being seeing her on and off for awhile. She thought I was dead when she saw the news about the plane crash. And coming back to life seems to have made me irresistible.”
“What does she work at?”
“She’s an attorney.”
“And she knows about The Fire Breathing Dragons?”
“Yeah, it’s not an issue.”
“Interesting, a bent attorney. We’ll go out for dinner tonight. If Esther doesn’t like her, it’s a no go.”
“She’ll like her just fine.”
“She better, the last thing I need is two women scratching each others eyes out like a pack of damn cats.”
“You’ll all heart, boss.”
(Back at the house)
“Who are you texting? He ask Esther.
“Tiana. So how was your morning.”
“Busy. David has a new woman.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, we’re going out for dinner with them tonight. He want her to move in here with him.”
“Isn’t it a bit soon?”
“It’ll be all over in a few weeks.”
“I hope you didn’t tell him that. Tell me that you’re not giving David a hard time about this.”
“I’m not.”
“Ok, I’m going for a shower.” She said.
“Do you want some company?”
“No thanks, you can go and see what your son is getting up to. He’s probably trying to drowned the goldfish.”
“He don’t have a goldfish.”
“We do now.”
(Later that night)
“It’s so nice to meet you, Lexi.” Said Esther.
“You too, I’ve heard so much about you both.”
“All nice things I hope.”
“Of course.”
Esther turn to Chris.
“Are you going to say something?”
“Like what?”
“Like hello.”
“Yeah, hello.”
“Please excuse my husband, Lexi. Sometimes he’s a bit of an a**.”
