Chapter 1363
A large crowd gathered at the scene when the body was recovered. The suitcase corpse disposal case spread online very
quickly. Some people even shared uncensored photos of the decaying corpse online to gain attention, instilling fear in many.
Rivera had not had such a heinous case of murder and body disposal for almost a year. The photos of the victim were already
circulating widely online before the investigation started. The authorities took this case very seriously and formed a special unit to
handle the case overnight.
Lena was eating with Carter when she received a call from her team. Then, Carter immediately drove her to the place before
they even finished their meal.
The autopsy result was released on the same night.
The victims had two knife wounds on their chest, both stabbed right into the heart. Clearly, it was not an accident but murder.
The suspect intended to kill the victim. i
The victim only had a pair of underwear on without any other garments. There was also nothing in the suitcase that could help
identify the victim. Also, no fingerprints or DNA from another person were detected on the suitcase.
However, there were numerous needle marks on the victim's arms. The officers first assumed that the person might have had a
history of drug use, but Lena found a small needle mark on the victim's chest.
Based on how the victim looked, Lena speculated later that the needle mark was most probably a result of the biopsy.
After conducting the autopsy, her speculation was confirmed. The victim had advanced lung cancer that had begun to spread.
The needle marks on the chest were caused by medical examinations and treatments.
So, she suggested beginning the investigation by checking with the oncology departments of all the major hospitals in Rivera.
Her superior officers agreed with her. However, the next day, they published the victim's appearance online to gather clues.
There was only one simple reason why they did that. The suitcase corpse disposal case had gained so much attention online,
and they had to show that the officials were actively taking action to solve it.
That left Lena infuriated, as that was the same thing as reminding the suspect to run away.
When Carter came to pick her up, he saw Lena looking furious, as if she would just randomly go up to someone on the street
and chop them into a million pieces.
He cleared his throat and asked, "Should we go to the shooting range for a couple of shots to lighten the mood?"
Lena kept quiet.
She glanced at Carter. "It's too far away. I don't feel like going there. Why don't you come to the boxing gym and practice with
me?"
Carter smiled and said softly, "That'll do too. But please go easy on your fragile husband."
Lena looked at his playful expression, and her mood began to turn better.
Then, she said, Don't worry. I'm not going to kill you. I don't want to be a widow at such a young age anyway."
Her response left Carter speechless.
When they got into the car, Carter received a call from Keegan. He remembered how Keegan asked him to erase his divorce
record, and his eyes twitched. Then, he declined the call without hesitation.
However, Keegan gave him another call shortly after. Carter was about to hang it up again, but Lena said, "Pick it up.
What's if it's something urgent?"
Carter sighed. "He never calls for anything good."
Although he said that, he answered the call anyway.
As expected, he heard Keegan speaking as soon as the call was connected, "I need you to forge evidence about the suitcase
corpse disposal case.”
Carter's eyelid twitched abruptly before he secretly glanced at Lena. She was scrolling through her phone, unaware of what
Keegan said on the phone.
Carter silently lowered his phone volume and said, "I'm busy.
"Your wife's going to thank you for that.”
Carter paused for a moment and said, "I'll talk to you later. I'm going to eat with Lena right now."
