Chapter 1479
Darcie said, "Jaylene has been staying in the hospital for the past few days, and I had a lot of work to do in the office. I couldn't
spare the time, so it got delayed."
She shifted her gaze to Stella and smiled as she continued, "I wanted to talk to you about it, but it seems you brought it up first
before I could."
She appeared to be smiling, but her eyes did not look friendly at all.
Stella had a smile on her face, too, "Actually, I'm not in a hurry too. It's just that I know you're a busy person and it's difficult for
you to have some free time. I have a pretty busy schedule, too, and I have to rush over to the set at any time with just a phone
call from my team. That's why I thought it'd be better to finish it as soon as possible since I have a day off today.
You're my elder; it won't be right for me to keep you waiting. That would be impolite."
Darcie tightened her grip on her utensils, shot her a glance, and pressed her lips together, "You're overthinking. After the meal,
we'll rest and get it done."
Stella nodded, "Thank you, Darcie."
Darcie replied amicably, "We're family. There's no need to be so polite with me."
Stella smiled and lowered her gaze as she thought, 'Her patience is impressive. I've pushed her buttons this much, yet she can
still hold back her anger. I'd probably dump this bowl of soup on the person who openly tried to set me up like that.
'She may look like a kind person, but she isn't even willing to give Trevor a room here. She's so cautious around me and Trevor.
Is she afraid we would snatch Jaylene's share of the family property away?’
After the meal, Darcie played two rounds of chess with Wenham and took the initiative to get the paperwork done.
Trevor stood up and said, "Let's go together. I'll have to take Stella back home after we're done."
Darcie paused without objecting.
On the other hand, Stella loaded the valuable decorations she took from Jaylene's room onto the car.
Changing the shop's ownership was a complicated process, but Stella did not mind at all when it came to making money.
They left the house at two in the afternoon and did all the procedures until evening, finally submitting all the necessary
documents.
Once everything got approved, The Velvet was officially Stella's property.
When they came out of the office, not only that Stella was not tired, but she was also full of energy. She said enthusiastically,
"Darcie, let's eat something together since you've spent so much time with me on this."
Darcie looked at her calmly and said, "It's fine. I've made an appointment with a friend for a skincare treatment tonight."
"Okay, we'll have a meal some other time then."
Darcie paused before she lifted her gaze and said, "Stella, I've put a lot of effort into operating The Velvet. Now that it's in your
hands, I hope you'll take good care of it for me."
Stella smiled, "Of course. I'll take good care of my own business, Darcie. Don't worry about it."
Darcie's gaze darkened, but she did not say anything more.
After Darcie left, Stella said, "Trevor, she'll never be able to mistreat you anymore with me around."
She could not believe that her silly father was oblivious to what Darcie had been subtly doing. He even thought that Trevor not
having a room in the house was nothing unusual.
Stella realized that Trevor, being a man, might not be as sensitive to a woman's subtle manipulations as she was. This led her to
suspect that Darcie might have taken advantage of Trevor many times over the years.
She had no intention of causing trouble at home after returning to the family. Darcie was Wenham's wife, and Jaylene was his
adopted daughter. If everyone could live together peacefully, she would not care how much of the family's wealth would be
divided between them in the future. However, if they had ulterior motives and tried to take advantage of her and her brother, she
would never just sit back and let it happen.
If they would not live harmoniously, then she would play the game by their rules.
Trevor paused momentarily before a hint of warmth appeared in his eyes. Although they did not grow up together, they were
blood siblings and had a special place in each other's hearts.
When their mother was pregnant with Stella, she hoped that Trevor and Stella could rely on and support each other. And now, it
seemed like that wish had come true.
