Chapter 2013
Vermont was not having it. He retorted: [They teamed up to provoke me, yet you don't allow me to get angry? You're my
girlfriend, be on my side.]
Felicity fired back: [What did they do to provoke you? Stella was just sharing the good news with you. Look at how petty you are!]
Vermont stopped texting right away.
'Telling good news, my foot! Keegan was just being all fake and annoying. I've known him for ages, and I'm sure Stella was up to
the same tricks!' Vermont thought, feeling really angry.
On the flip side, Felicity had a different take. 'Is Keegan okay now? I was thinking of throwing a brick at his head to help him
remember faster.'
Stella thought about it and decided not to tell them about Keegan regaining his memory for now because Felicity could never
keep a secret, and she was worried that she would mess things up for them.
So, she replied: [No, he still can't remember anything now. He just doesn't want anyone gossiping about my growing belly, so we
decided to get a marriage certificate first.]
Felicity's happy face suddenly went away. [He's just worried that you'll run away with his babies, so he's using the marriage
certificate to tie you down! What a crafty scum!]
Stella sighed and typed: [There's nothing I can do since he lost his memory. Let's just hope that he'll start remembering things in
the future, especially now that we have children.]
Vermont read their chat and noticed how Stella fooled Felicity. Stella acted quite differently before and after learning that Keegan
got his memory back.
Vermont recalled her saying, before she knew about Keegan's memory," Even if he can't remember me, I'll make him fall in love
with me again. I'm not going to marry anyone else!" Now that she knew Keegan had recovered his memory, she said, "There's
nothing I can do since he lost his memory."
Vermont considered exposing her lie, but he thought Keegan might get off too easily. So, he held back and silently schemed his
"revenge." Soon, a plan formed in his mind.
Meanwhile, after Jaylene took a shower, she headed to Caline.
Arriving at the office, she went straight to Darice's office and pushed the door open without knocking.
Darcie was in a meeting with several managers from different departments, and the sudden sound shocked all of them. Darcie
raised her gaze and frowned. "Don't you know how to knock before entering? Where are your manners?"
One of the managers quickly tried to smooth things over, "Mrs. Saun, young people now have their ways of doing things. There's
no need to be so harsh on her. Jaylene, you've gotten so much prettier. You were still in high school when I first saw you. You
grew so much!"
Jaylene was in a bad mood and felt extremely repulsed by such flattery.
So, she said coldly, "Don't try to flatter me. Do I even know you?"
The manager's expression stiffened, looking somewhat displeased.
With a cold face, Darcie said, "What has gotten into you so early in the morning? Say sorry to Mr. Morgan now!"
Jaylene showed no sign of wanting to apologize. Seeing that Darcie was going to explode in anger, Aubrey quickly stood up and
said, "Jaylene, let me take you to the lounge first. Mrs. Saun still has some work to handle."
Jaylene had purposely come here to confront Darcie, but when she was met with her icy gaze, she became somewhat timid. She
nodded with her fists clenched and followed Aubrey to the lounge.
Half an hour later, when Darice was done with her work, she went to the lounge.
Jaylene was sitting on the sofa, obsessively scrolling through photos of Keegan. Upon hearing the door opening, she
immediately kept her phone away and greeted, "Mom."
Darcie replied calmly, ‘ Not only that you didn't knock just now, but you also didn't greet anyone in the room. When did you
become so disrespectful?"
Jaylene frowned. "They’re all working under you. What's the big deal?"
Darcie's expression turned displeased. "Jaylene Saun, those are the people I spent tremendous effort roping in for you. When
Stella comes to Caline, they'll be the ones supporting you. Yet, you just offended one of them for no reason!"
Jaylene snorted. "Mom, it's just Stella. Do you have to make such a big fuss over it? She has no experience in perfumery. If she
wants to take over Caline, she's got to earn the respect of everyone working in the company first."
