Wren was not expecting to see Stella here at all as she hastily wiped away the
tears on her face and called out in a hoarse voice, "Hello, Ms. Hall."
She was only a few years older than Sonia. She was a young lady with an oval-
shaped face, looking very youthful. However, her skin seemed somewhat pale,
giving her a fragile appearance that reminded Stella of Colin Craven. That left a
deep impression on Stella.
Stella handed her a tissue and said gently, "Here, wipe your tears."
Wren took it and thanked her.
Stella was not a nosy person, but when she came in earlier, she overheard Wren
on the phone with the hospital mentioning payment and surgery.
It reminded her of the helplessness she felt when she could not afford to pay for
Rainee's treatment in the hospital to keep her alive. So, she could not help but

However, nobody dared to offend anyone from the finance department, so most
people could only play by their rules.
But Wren was different from those seasoned employees in the department as
she would not give anyone a hard time. Generally, when anyone went to her for
reimbursement within the company's approved scope, she would process them
promptly and efficiently.
So, Kiara figured that she should step up for Wren after she got targeted this
time. However, she was not in a position to make waves, fearing that she might
offend someone and get herself into trouble.
When she heard Stella's conversation with Wren in the restroom, she hesitated
but decided to tell Stella the whole story anyway.
It turned out that a few days ago, when the salaries were paid, Wren only
received her basic salary; almost all her bonuses were deducted. She did not
come from a well-off family, and she lived with her grandmother, who suffered
from uremia and needed regular dialysis, which could be very expensive.
Most of her monthly salary would go toward that, leaving a small amount to cover
their daily expenses.
Her bonuses made up a big part of her monthly salary. Now that they have been
deducted, the remaining money would not be enough to cover the next dialysis
session.
After all, hospitals were built to make profits. Without money, Wren's
grandmother would not be treated. That was what made her cry.
