Chapter 342
Stella stood up. Before she could speak, Dahlia grabbed her arm, looking angry. “Did you do this? Did you find someone to beat
Aurora up? Was it you?!”
Stella frowned. She looked like she did not know what had happened. “Mother, what are you talking about? What happened to
Aurora?”
“Stop pretending!” When Dahlia looked at Stella, she immediately thought of Aurora’s bloody, pitiful face. She raised her arm and
wanted to slap Stella.
Arthur looked furious. He hit the mattress as he shouted, “Don’t dare!”

Stella was ready to be hit. But her wrist was grabbed by someone the next second. She was abruptly pulled aside. A sound
could then be heard when the smack was strongly made. But the slap landed on Keegan’s chin.
Dahlia’s sharp nails raked Keegan’s chin and left a few shallow hints of redness on it.
Stella stared unwaveringly at Keegan. She unconsciously clenched her fingers.
Keegan touched his cheek. He glared at Dahlia. “Are you done? Let’s go outside and talk if you’re done!”
Dahlia looked exceptionally unhappy. She did not expect Keegan to take the slap for Stella. She would be less angry if Keegan
grabbed her hand to stop her.
The policeman hurriedly stepped forward to ease the situation. “Ms. Crosby, relax. We’ll know who did it after the investigation.”
After he said that, he turned his head to say to Stella, “Ms. Stella, there’s been a violent assault at West Loop Avenue last night.
We want to ask you some questions. Can we go outside and talk?”
Arthur instantly sat up when he heard “violent assault”.
“What violent assault? Are you all mistaken?”
The policeman thought that Arthur might be the flashpoint of the incident. He also thought Arthur might be involved in the
incident too. So, he told him about Aurora being beaten up.
After hearing what he said, Arthur immediately said, “It can’t be Stella. She was taking care of me in the hospital last night.
How’d she have the time to go and do that?”
The police frowned. ‘Stella has another alibi now.’
“We didn’t say she did it. We just want to ask some questions.”
“Ask her the questions here then! That woman dared to hit my great-granddaughter in front of me. Who knows how you guys
would conduct the case behind my back?”
The policeman was at a loss for words. ‘Our response was slow just now. Who would’ve thought Dahlia, who dressed so
properly, would hit someone?’
Dahlia coldly said, “You’ll just find excuses for her if we ask her in front of you.”
“Don’t ask her questions then.” Arthur angrily added, “Arrest her if you guys have proof. Or else, get lost!”
While they were in a stalemate, a male’s voice could be heard from the door. “Why’re there so
many people here?”
Everyone turned their heads. They then saw Trevor carrying a banquet of flowers standing at the door. He looked surprised.
Keegan frowned. “Why are you here?”
“I heard that Mrs. Kane’s family member was admitted to the hospital when I sent her back to the hospital yesterday. So, I
wanted to come and visit.” He paused for a moment and looked around. He then stared at the two policemen. “What are you
guys doing here?”
The police paid attention to Trevor’s words. He asked, “You’re saying you were with Ms. Stella last night?”
Trevor nodded. “I went to find her to talk about work. I was the one who sent her to the hospital last night.”
The two policemen exchanged glances. One of them asked, “What time did you guys go out?”
“Before nine or ten at night. About that time. We talked for quite a long time. I fetched her back to the hospital after that.”
Stella raised her eyes to look at Trevor. He looked natural. He even asked the police, “What are you guys investigating here?”
Right after he said that, the policemen received a message from their colleagues on their phones. Stella indeed went back to the
hospital at one o’clock at midnight. And she got back home at two o’clock at midnight. The owner of the Bentley that sent her to
the hospital was Trevor.
The time information matched. There was no proof saying Stella was directly involved in this violent assault.
“Nothing. We just wanted to ask some questions.” They meant to ask questions before they got new leads. The police then said,
“We’ll leave now.”
