Chapter 346
Trevor froze for a moment. He quietly said, “Those roses have been there for decades. Some of their roots are very deep into the
ground. It’s not that easy to remove them. It’s not
worthwhile to spend so much effort to remove it.”
“All right. I’ll tell dad and mom.”
“Okay. Let them know.”
After the call ended, Trevor flipped through a few pages of the document again before putting it aside.
Trevor and his mother planted the roses in the garden together.
The flowers bloomed and died all these years. But his mother could no longer see it.
When Keegan got back to the ward, Arthur was sleeping.
Stella was leaning back in the chair. She was half asleep. She looked a little tired.
It woke her up when Keegan came in.
She raised her eyes to look at him. Her eyes were cold.
“Come out,” Keegan said to her.
Stella got up and took her jacket before leaving with Keegan.
They did not talk along the way. Keegan spoke after they got into the car. “Where did you actually go last night?”
“I was with Mr. Saun. Didn’t you hear that?”
Keegan pursed his lips. “Do you know how well the police’s surveillance system covers?”
Stella slowly raised her eyes. She looked calm. “How well?”
Keegan’s eyes were dark. “As long as the surveillance captures your face, they’ll have ways to know where you went.”
“So impressive. Then why are there still so many unsolved cases?”
Keegan’s forehead twitched. “Do you think I’m joking?”
“No.” Stella faintly said, “It’s good that their surveillance system is so well developed. The sooner they find the criminal, the
sooner I’ll be absolved.”
“You’re innocent?”
Stella paused for a while. She glanced at the phone he was clutching. She suddenly smiled. “Are you trying to extract information
from me?”
Keegan remained silent.
Stella looked emotionless as she leaned close to his ears. She slowly said, “Keegan, do you remember what I told you on the
charity gala night?”
Keegan startled.
Memories gradually appeared in his mind.
She had said, “Keegan, this will be the last time I humor Aurora. I can forgive what she did in the past because she was still
young. But, in the future, if she crosses me again, I won’t go easy on her. You can protect her. But I’ll fight back and make my
stand. I’ve got nothing to lose. I’ll fight for myself.”
Stella kept her word.
Keegan turned his head to look at her.
But Stella distanced herself. She wiped away the hair on her shoulder.
“I’m saddened by what happened to Aurora, just like all of you.” She looked at Keegan. “I’m really quite sad.”
‘I’m sad I didn’t slap her a few more times.’
She was not afraid that Keegan recorded her voice. ‘What I said can’t prove anything.’
She wanted to let Keegan know that since the Kane family could not give justice, she would seek it herself.
