He glared at Ms. Lewis, who pretended not to notice. Quietly, she sent a text to her colleagues to get someone from the
principal’s office quickly. because things were getting out of control.
As everyone continued speculating about the outcome of Sean and Hunter’s fight, a teacher suddenly said, ‘Ms. Lewis says it’s
out of control, and we need to call the principal’s office.”
The office atmosphere was instantly filled with gossip: “What does out of control’ mean? Mrs. Kelley’s’ yelling again?”
“No, Ms. Lewis said that Sean’s guardian splashed hot water on Hunter’s mom, and Hunter’s mom called people over to deal
with it.”
The office went dead quiet.
After a while, someone cautiously voiced everyone’s question, “Hold on, did you say Hunter’s mom got splashed with hot water
by Sean’s guardian? Are you joking?”
“Nope, that’s what Ms. Lewis told me.”
Talking resumed in the office.
Hunter’s mom wasn’t just favored by the school administration but also had a high status among the parents.
She treated parents who flattered her very well, but when it came to those who ignored or outright opposed her, she would
isolate them from other parents.
No one had ever challenged her like this before. The teachers were shocked.
“And, Ms. Lewis said that the female guardian had told Milman to quit and become Mrs. Kelley’s lap dog.”
Everyone was speechless.
“Damn, she’s that badass?”
“She’s so pretty; I thought she would be gentle and soft-spoken, can’t believe she’s so aggressive! Even daring to yell at Mr.
Milman!”

“He deserved it, didn’t he? He’s done plenty of shady things over the years.”
“Sean’s situation wasn’t even that serious, originally. The school just wanted to mediate but then he tried to get in Mrs. Kelley’s
good graces, suggesting that Sean should be expelled. Do you know why?”
“Isn’t it because of the library thing?”
“What library? You guys don’t know, right? This year, the school’s representative team won first prize in the science competition,
so Quantum Enterprises signed a deal called ‘The Elites’ with the school, sponsoring a science library worth 100 million dollars.
The school’s planning to announce it next month during the anniversary celebration, and construction is set to start in July and
finish the next October.”
“So it’s not about the library, huh?”
“What is it, then?”
“I heard Mr. Milman’s wife and Mrs. Kelley’s husband work for the same company. They’re about to change leadership positions,
and his wife is one of the candidates. Mrs. Kelley’s husband has a say in the matter, so, of course, Mr. Milman would try to suck
up to her, right?”
“He sure knows how to play politics!”
In the Board of Education’s office.
Mrs. Kelley sat across from them, and her eyes piercing into Celeste as if she could drill holes through her with nothing but her
gaze.
Mr. Milman’s tea was already placed by Celeste, who was completely unprepared. If the scalding tea were tossed onto her pretty
face, it might not burn a blister, but it’d definitely leave her with a big red mark
Mrs. Kelley’s hand was itching to act, but right when she touched the cup, a familiar knocking sound came from her side.
She stopped in her tracks, looking up into Liam’s eyes.
That look was cold and ruthless, and her cup-touching hand quickly retracted, as if she’d been electrocuted.
Mrs. Kelley cursed inwardly: This meddling man!

But she didn’t dare make a move.
