Chapter 500
Hiram’s face suddenly became serious.
Clearly, he had no clue who was behind all this trouble.
Liam looked at Celeste.
Celeste was expressionless and didn’t look at him.
She was waiting to hear how Liam would cover up for Kaylee later.
As expected, in just a few seconds, Liam said, “Mr. Garcia, this Incident was indeed caused by Kaylee. The Reed family didn’t
discipline her well, so she’ll come to apologize in person another day.”
Celeste was taken aback.
She thought Liam would find some excuse for Kaylee, but he just admitted it for her.
Was this a tactic of retreating in order to advance?
Since Liam had already said this, Hiram couldn’t say anything more in public, even if he was still unhappy.
Hiram frowned, “Kaylee is really out of line. Even without Clair’s incident, she shouldn’t have locked Ms. Campbell in the
bathroom just because she was unhappy. Is this how a normal person behaves?*
Liam pursed his lips and said after a while, “The Reed family has indeed spoiled her too much.”
Seeing the awkward atmosphere, Janis said softly, “Let it go. It’s rare for us to get together this year, let’s talk about something
happy.”
Celeste looked at Janis in surprise.
Clair called her Mom, but Steven called her Mrs. Janis. Judging from the titles they used, Clair should be Janis’s biological
daughter.
Mr. Garcia and Steven treated Clair like a treasure, while Janis, the mother, was very magnanimous.
But it seemed that Hiram liked this approach. As soon as Janis spoke, he didn’t pursue the matter any further and just muttered,
“It’s really inappropriate.”
Seeing that her attempt to provoke didn’t succeed, Celeste was somewhat disappointed. The Garcia family was well–mannered.
If it were her, she would have wanted to beat the person who almost killed her daughter.
Celeste raised her glass to Clair and said, “Ms. Garcia isn’t feeling well, so tea instead of alcohol is fine. I’ll drink first to show my
respect.”
With that, she downed the drink in her glass.
“Ms. Campbell is straightforward Steven said with a smile, refilling Celeste’s glass, “Here’s to you, to celebrate our successful
signing”
Celeste didn’t refuse and drank it all again.
Her face didn’t change at all after drinking two glasses of alcohol,
Steven immediately poured a third glass, but before he could say anything, Liam said, ‘Ill drink this one for her. She can’t handle
alcohol.”
Celeste was like, “What?”
How could he say she couldn’t handle alcohol with his weak drinking capacity?
Before Celeste could speak, Steven suddenly laughed, “If you’re drinking, then we can’t use this kind of small cup. We have to
drink like men.”
With that, he picked up a water glass, filled it up for Liam, and said, “Heres to celebrating our reunion.”
Liam looked at the full glass of alcohol in front of him with a troubled expression.
Celeste thought to herself, weren’t Steven and Liam friends?
The way he urged him to drink seemed like he hated him to death. Was it just because Liam introduced him to a new girlfriend?
Was this really necessary?
Wouldn’t this glass of alcohol knock Liam out?
Celeste lowered her eyes, her fingers gently rubbing the chopsticks, not speaking.
Hiram also quickly poured himself a full glass, “Come on, let’s drink together.”
Liam couldn’t refuse after what he had said
He picked up the glass and said, “Cheers.”
Then he drank it all down.
