Chapter 759
Skyler’s face instantly stiffened.
She’d been living in this house for a while now; it had become her home.
After her husband died, Sienna took Liam under her wing, and Kaylee was raised by Skyler herself.
Her affection for Kaylee was genuine. But she also chose to keep Kaylee around as a way to secure her own future.
She was well aware that if she left the Reed family and remarried, she wouldn’t find another family as prestigious as the Reeds.
So, when Sienna offered her a wad of cash if she decided to remarry and let the Reeds raise her kid, she firmly chose to raise
her kid herself and pledged not to remarry until her kid was of age.
Although the sum Sienna mentioned was not small, what she needed was not just money but also the honor and status that
came with being a part of the Reed family. This completely satisfied her psychological needs.
So, the idea of giving up a cushy lifestyle to return to an ordinary life was a no–brainer.
Therefore, she chose to raise Kaylee herself.
Sienna respected her decision and did not treat her unfairly.
This house was bought for Skyler and Kaylee by Sienna.
But Sienna was also wary of her. The house was initially registered in Sienna’s name, and it was transferred to Liam’s name
when he came of age.
Although this approach made her uncomfortable at first, she quickly got over it.
Liam was her son. The house being in his name made no difference from it being in hers.
Would Liam kick her out?
At that time, she never thought that one day Liam would actually kick her out of this house.
Owen, without paying any attention to her shock, turned to the people behind him and said, “Let’s get started.”
Skyler snapped out of it and quickly blocked the door, shouting angrily, “I’d like to see who dares!”
Owen said calmly, “Ma’am, this is Mr. Reed’s order. Don’t make it hard for us. If we had to use force and you got hurt, you’d still
have to pay for your own medical bills.” Owen continued, “Mr. Reed said he’ll pay your alimony annually from now on. Two
million a year, paid every November. It’s still...”
He checked his phone. “57 days away. You might want to cut back a little on spending until then. Medical bills might not be
much, but you should still try to save up.” Skyler was infuriated by his words and almost passed out.
She pointed at Owen, trembling, and asked, “Who do you think you are? You’re nothing more than an assistant Liam keeps
around. How dare you talk to me like this?” The people who came with Owen were all nervous for him. Owen held a high position
within the company. This was not only because he knew Liam’s habits and thoughts like the back of his hand, but also because
of his efficiency and excellent social skills.
Liam was strict at work but inevitably overlooked some issues when dealing with employees, and Owen was just the person to
make up for this.
