Liam quickly scanned the information, zeroing in on a particular name. That person happened to be an employee in Shawn’s
company’s secretarial office
His phone buzzed. It was the fourth blackmail email.
Liam glanced at it. There were twenty minutes left on the countdown.
“We should call the cops, get them arrested and interrogated They’ll definitely confess Simon suggested
Liam remained silent for a moment, then asked, “Can you tmck the flow of money in an offshore account?”
Simon hesitated, “Once you transfer the money into their account, it’s going to be hard to track, but since we know who the
blackmailer is, we just need to monitor his domestic accounts. He’ll definitely try to launder the money and bring it back We can
track that, unless he plans to run off oversees with the money
It was unlikely Shawn would give up everything and move overseas. He had built his life here, and he wouldn’t just let go
Otherwise, he wouldn’t resort to blackmail.
Liam called Owen, instructing him to transfer fifty million in five installments to the offshore account
“Why not just call the police?”
“I don’t want his blackmail attempt to fail”
Simon was taken aback, looking at Liam but not saying anything.
Liam was the best at following the rules in their circle. Even when he took action, he did it through the law
Failed blackmail and massive blackmail have different consequences, the latter being more severe
Just like that time when Celeste was drugged at a bar. Even though she was rescued, he could have left it to the police. Instead,
he lured the suspect to a fruit store, gave the guy a chance to attack him with a knife, and then used that as an excuse for self–
defense, landing the guy in intensive care
He was not breaking the law, but he used it to its fullest extent, especially when it came to Celeste.
Simon laughed thinking about this.
Liam looked at him, “What’s up?”
Simon covered his mouth with his fist and coughed lightly, “Nothing, was just thinking that you really got shafted in your divorce.”
Nailing Shawn for blackmail was just one step. Now was not the time to deal with Shawn.
Punishing him would be a piece of cake. The problem was Celeste was investigating a car accident from the past. Shawn
wouldn’t have the guts to come up with such a vicious plot The person likely helping him was Helen.
If Shawn got arrested for blackmail, he might try to protect Helen for the sake of their child.
Attempted murder was a more senous crime than blackmail. Without evidence, Shawn would not admit to anything, which would
only make his relationship with Shawn even more tense than before
So now was not the time to deal with him.
After transferring the fifty million, the blackmailer sent another email, “Why did you only transfer half?”
“I want to see the process of you destroying them” Liam responded
Transfer the money to me, and I’ll show you right away.”
“You send it first”
“Cut the crap. If I don’t receive the money in an hour, I’ll release the pictures!” The blackmailer was obviously getting anxious.
Liam coolly replied, “Do whatever you want. I’ve done my duty to my ex–wife. Release the pictures if you want I can definitely
find you in this country.”
Now that he knew the blackmailer was Shawn, Liam had 90% control over the situation
After sending the email, there was no further action from the other side.
Shawn just wanted the dough, he was not really interested in plastering these photos all over the place, because there was no
gain in it for him. On the flip side, these pics were his golden goose for consistent blackmailing
On the other end of the computer, Shawn was looking at that 50 million in his account with trembling hands. He didn’t think it
would be such a cakewalk.
