Chapter 930
He looked a bit dizzy, with his eyes revealing a mix of complex emotions that left Celeste puzzled.
“Mason? Mr. Fletcher?”
She called his name a few times before he finally escaped it.
Realizing he’d been out of line, he cleared his throat and said in a low voice, “I’m a bit taken aback, you look like a completely
different person.”
Looking at her reflection in the mirror, Celeste nodded, “Indeed, I was startled myself too. It’s my first time seeing makeup that
completely alters one’s appearance.”
The makeup artist cleaning the brushes chuckled, “If you’re just taking photos, you can’t really tell you’re wearing makeup. But in
person, it’s pretty obvious you’re wearing heavy makeup. Fortunately, you have good skin, so it doesn’t look too over the top”
Then he jokingly asked Mason, “Can’t tell if it’s the real deal or not, can you?”
Mason didn’t respond. He just stood behind Celeste, resting his hand on the back of her chair, looking at her reflection in the
mirror before chuckling.
“What’s so funny?” Celeste asked, puzzled.
“I was just wondering what to call you, then I remembered when we first met, you lied to me that your name was Selena Colton”
Celeste said, “Let’s not bring that up again.”
How embarrassing.
Mason laughed, “It’s a good name, though. I’ll call you Selena tonight. What job should we say you do so people won’t see
through us?”
Celeste responded, “Human skin surface cleaning and beautifying engineer.”
Seeing his confusion, the makeup artist chimed in. “She means a nail artist.”
“Isn’t it funny?” Celeste initially wanted to crack a joke but felt it wasn’t funny if the other person didn’t get it.
“It’s funny,” Mason said, even forcing a couple of chuckles, “Sounds professional.”
Celeste smirked, “No need to comfort me. I think the joke has turned colder.”
Mason was taken aback before softly saying. “It’s the first time I’ve heard this job, so I was just a bit surprised.”
Celeste was surprised. “Don’t you surf the web?”
Mason responded, “Not often, because sometimes the public opinion on some cases might affect me, so I don’t really keep track
of those social platforms
Celeste suddenly realized that Liam had a better sense of humor than Mason and his elite friends.
In the past, when she argued with Liam, she would grab her suitcase and threaten to leave.
Liam wouldn’t try to stop her, he’d just stand in the bedroom, arms crossed, watching her coldly.
Only when she was ready to leave would Liam stop her and ask, “Are you really leaving?”
She thought Liam would try to persuade her to stay and snorted, “Should I stay here and put up with you?”
Liam said, “Think about it; without me, you’ll have to earn your own money. You married me right after graduation, you’re out of
touch with society, with no work experience. What good job can you find?”
Hearing this, Celeste was even more furious. She thought he would try to persuade her to stay, but instead, he was just fueling
the fire.
Angry, she snapped, “I’d rather starve than ask for your help. If it comes to that, I can just be a cleaner.”
