Chapter 977
Liam was alert as he repeated her words, “You got men’s clothes there?”
Celeste replied, “I shot an ad for a local clothing brand before, they have a pretty nice men’s line. I got you a couple of sets, soft
fabric and not too pricey. If you don’t like it, no biggle.”
Liam paused, “You’ve never bought me expensive clothes before, why sugar–coat it?”
Celeste gritted her teeth, “Who says I never got you fancy stuff? Your socks, they cost a fortune, while mine are dime a dozen!”
Liam responded, “Other than socks.”
“What about underwear? Those cost a pretty penny too, some even broke the bank!”
Liam was helpless
“Other than underwear.”
Celeste opened her mouth, finally defending herself, “I don’t buy cheap not because I’m stingy, it’s all about if they are worth it.
You know, big brands charge an arm and a leg for stuff that costs peanuts to make. Why be the sucker who pays top dollar for
everyday wear?” The more she spoke, the more she convinced herself, ending up somewhat indignant, “I always shop around.
Do
think that’s not tiring? I’m just trying to save you money, and you’re giving me grief?”
you
Liam was helpless again, “Shop around to pick a swim trunk that bleeds dye?”
Owen couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Everyone knew that Liam couldn’t swim, but sometimes business negotiations took place in recreational venues, with a bit of ball
game or swimming on the side.
Liam had to be there the whole time, but he usually stayed dry.
However, once he met a client who was a good swimmer. The client knew Liam couldn’t swim and insisted on teaching him,
claiming that the contract was a done deal if he learned to swim.
At that time, Liam’s position in the company was not stable. He needed such a big order to boost his influence. So, despite his
fear of water, he agreed to learn to swim from the client and asked his wife to bring him a pair of swimming trunks.
His wife, Celeste, knowing that he was going to learn to swim, enthusiastically picked out swimwear for him.
But her taste was truly questionable. All she got him were swimweats with a Superman design, a farting pattern on the rear, or a
giant elephant trunk or banana on the front
All in all, designs that were not fit for public exposure.
The key point was, Liam and the client had set a time, waiting for her to bring the swim trunks. She was even confident over the
phone, saying Liam would definitely like it.
As expected, Liam’s face fell at the sight of the garish swim trunks.
But the client was waiting for him, and he had no time to buy new ones. He picked a black and red striped design, which looked
somewhat normal at least on dry land.
When the negotiations were almost done, the client called him into the water to teach him how to breathe.
Liam braced himself and got in the water.
Everything was fine at first, but as the lesson proceeded, the client’s face turned somewhat odd.
Finally, the client couldn’t help but ask, “Sir, should you see a proctologist first? Your hemorrhoids look severe. The water has
turned red.”
Liam looked down in confusion, seeing the red stream around him, the scene looked like a hemorrhoid flare–up, quite shocking.
Liam’s face turned black.
