intently.
However, when Melody began talking about the dangers of listing a company on
the market, Hera said, “I actually have no plans of listing Baroque on the market.
Nash is the reason Baroque has managed to achieve everything we have today.
“Based on my understanding of him, he’d hate seeing Baroque being controlled
by other capitalists. This includes Southern Heavens Pharmaceuticals!”
Melody was stunned, but she soon smiled and nodded. “Based on the number of
orders that Baroque is currently receiving, it seems the company will be making
profits for the next couple of years.
“There’s no need to worry about cash flow problems for the short term. Not listing
the company on the market would work as well, but there's no way the other
giants in the market won't have their eyes trained on Baroque as you continue
dominating the market!”
Hera agreed wholeheartedly with that.
Innovate Collective and Deco Electronics were perfect examples.
The two were still talking to each other animatedly when Hera'’s secretary
returned with the head of the Logistics Department.
Alongside them were Robin, the head of security, and his comrades.
“Ms. Lily... Why does Ms. Hera want to see me this early in the nervously.
“You seem very nervous, Mr. Griffin,” Robin noted, the corner of his mouth
curving upward into a sneer.
“W-Why would I be nervous? I'm just wondering why Ms. Hera wants to see me
when she could have just spoken to me during the morning meeting!” Boris said
as he forced himself to smile.
Robin huffed. “You'll know once you head in.”
The way Robin was acting only caused Boris to feel even more nervous.
Lily knocked on the door and said, “Mr. Griffin is here, Ms. Hera!”
“Come in!”
Hera’s cool voice rang out from inside the office.
Upon hearing that, Lily opened the door and said to Boris, “Please go in, Mr.
Griffin!”
Boris drew in a deep breath and regulated his emotions before heading into the
office.
“Ms. Hera, you wanted to see me?” Boris lowered his head as he spoke
respectfully.
Hera leaned back against her chair and used her fingers to drum the table
without saying anything.
The fear that Boris had worked so hard to suppress washed over him once more.
Whenever Hera drummed the table during meetings, it meant she was
suppressing her fury.
A whole three minutes passed before she said coolly, “How much did Deco
Electronics pay you?”
Boris’ gaze shifted as he looked up and asked, “W-What do you mean by that,
Ms. Hera?”
He immediately lowered his gaze when his eyes met Hera’s cold ones.
Following the growth of Baroque, Hera had also grown and flourished aplenty in
the past two months. The employees were already calling her the Ice Queen
behind her back. He was a mere departmental head and did not have the
courage to meet Hera’s eyes.
“I'm sure you know perfectly well what I mean, Mr. Griffin I” Hera said as a
disappointed look appeared in her eyes.
“You joined the company in 2016 and sold everything you had in 2019, choosing
to spend your nights on the streets because you needed the money for your
daughter's leukemia treatment.
“My parents rallied the company’s employees to raise over 700,000 dollars, and
they also added another 350,000 dollars from their own pockets. I was only a
high school student then, but I also donated all of the 8,000 dollars I had saved
up to your daughter.
“Yet, this is how you chose to repay Baroque?”
Boris trembled upon hearing that.
Baroque had already begun facing financial difficulties back in 2019.
The company had begun taking out huge loans from the bank.
Despite that, Harrison and Lauren had not hesitated to help Boris’ daughter.
“What an ungrateful piece of trash you are!”
Melody rolled her eyes at Boris in disgust.
No wonder Lauren had been so distracted last night.
