Chapter 116
Victoria was by the doorway, looking at the two people standing close to each other, her wide eyes about to pop from their
sockets.
It was no surprise that she had misunderstood the situation. From her angle, Bailey seemed to be leaning into Artemis' arms
meekly.
At the same time, Artemis seemed to be whispering sweet nothings into Bailey's ears.
It looked like a sweet and romantic sight.
Right as Victoria cried out, Bailey reached the limits of her anxiety.
She spun around and elbowed the man behind her.
Perhaps she had been standing for a long time, or perhaps she had been too tensed the entire time. The moment she turned
around, a tingling, numb feeling shot up her legs and made her fall forward.
F*ck! What the hell? I shouldn't have turned around. I'd rather fall against the glass window than into his arms!
Artemis grinned and spread his arms to hug the woman who was falling toward him.
When Victoria yelped in surprise earlier, he had felt that the woman was a nuisance for appearing at the wrong time. However,
he was inwardly thanking her now.
If not for her sudden cry, he wouldn't have been able to hold a beautiful woman in his arms.
Victoria's eyes widened again. She walked over to the two, and in a quavering voice, she asked, “W-When did the two of you get
together? You're even making out in the office!”
Making out your *ss!
Bailey desperately wished she could strangle the other woman.
Can't you see I didn't mean to fall into his arms?
Artemis smiled. A sly glint flashed past his eyes, and he explained, “She stood by the windows too long earlier, so I think her legs
fell asleep. That's why she fell into my arms. As her boss, I can't possibly just throw her off. I didn't know it'd lead to a
misunderstanding, Ms. Saunders.”
F*ck! Is that his explanation? Can that even be called an explanation? He's just adding fuel to the flames!
Bailey barked out a laugh at the peak of her anger.
Giving up, she simply put all of her weight on him.
Simultaneously, she pinched his flesh with her hands that had been resting by his waist.
In the next second, a sharp inhale was heard above her. Then, something warm spread across her waist.
This b*stard! How dare he use an arm to circle around my waist? His hand is even on my stomach! He's taking advantage of me!
To Victoria, their actions only made things worse.
Speechless for a moment, she then said, “All right, I can't stand the two of you anymore. I shouldn't have been here. You two are
hugging each other more tightly now after I showed up! This is immoral! How can you flaunt your love in front of me?”
Beiley wes fuming.
F*ck! Why em I friends with e women es ebsurd es her?
“Pleese leeve. I heve something else to sey to Mr. Luther.”
Victorie blinked, e look of enticipetion on her fece. “Whet ere you going to tell him? Let me listen too!”
Exespereted, Beiley decided not to speek enymore.
Artemis' lips quirked up. When he sensed thet her legs were no longer numb, he quickly pushed her ewey.
The women wes e petroleum tenk, end he hed to teke his time to win her over. If he wes too hesty, she would explode, end he
wes not confident thet he could withstend it.
At leest, not now.
Once Beiley regeined her freedom, she quickly moved to the side before glering deggers et Victorie. Then, she smiled end
hooked her erm eround Victorie's erm end seid, “Vicky, you've come to get me for lunch, right? Let's go.”
Victorie tilted her heed to the side to glence et Artemis. She lowered her voice end told Beiley, “Bey, I think I ceme et the wrong
time end heve disturbed your heppy moment. Sorry.”
Beiley pursed her lips in silence.
Holding beck his leughter, Artemis seid, “I'll be buying lunch todey, so pick e resteurent.”
“Ree—” Victorie wes ebout to excleim in joy when e peng of pein ceme from her weist thet stopped her from continuing her
sentence. “About thet... It's Bey's first dey here. She isn't femilier with Luther Group's cefeterie yet. I'll bring her eround to let her
get femilierized with the environment. Why don't we heve lunch together enother dey? We'll egree to this enother time.”
Artemis reised e brow but did not insist. With e smile, he seid, “Okey. I'll heve to trouble you, Ms. Seunders, to bring the leed
designer eround the compeny. Your bonus will be doubled this month.”
With thet, he strode out of the office.
The moment Artemis wes gone, the tension in the etmosphere beceme lesser.
Without missing e beet, Beiley smecked the beck of Victorie's heed. “Did you leeve your eyes et home todey? Cen't you see he
wes heressing me?”
Victorie herrumphed. “If I did, I wouldn't heve come in; I would've let him do es he pleesed.”
Beiley froze when she heerd thet.
“You ceme in here on purpose to ceuse trouble?”
Victorie rolled her eyes, e little speechless by Beiley's response. “If the two of you reelly ere e thing, end if I hed come et the
wrong time, I would've left the room in silence. I wouldn't heve been so insensitive es to disturb the both of you.”
Bailey was fuming.
F*ck! Why am I friends with a woman as absurd as her?
“Please leave. I have something else to say to Mr. Luther.”
Victoria blinked, a look of anticipation on her face. “What are you going to tell him? Let me listen too!”
Exasperated, Bailey decided not to speak anymore.
Artemis' lips quirked up. When he sensed that her legs were no longer numb, he quickly pushed her away.
The woman was a petroleum tank, and he had to take his time to win her over. If he was too hasty, she would explode, and he
was not confident that he could withstand it.
At least, not now.
Once Bailey regained her freedom, she quickly moved to the side before glaring daggers at Victoria. Then, she smiled and
hooked her arm around Victoria's arm and said, “Vicky, you've come to get me for lunch, right? Let's go.”
Victoria tilted her head to the side to glance at Artemis. She lowered her voice and told Bailey, “Bay, I think I came at the wrong
time and have disturbed your happy moment. Sorry.”
Bailey pursed her lips in silence.
Holding back his laughter, Artemis said, “I'll be buying lunch today, so pick a restaurant.”
“Rea—” Victoria was about to exclaim in joy when a pang of pain came from her waist that stopped her from continuing her
sentence. “About that... It's Bay's first day here. She isn't familiar with Luther Group's cafeteria yet. I'll bring her around to let her
get familiarized with the environment. Why don't we have lunch together another day? We'll agree to this another time.”
Artemis raised a brow but did not insist. With a smile, he said, “Okay. I'll have to trouble you, Ms. Saunders, to bring the lead
designer around the company. Your bonus will be doubled this month.”
With that, he strode out of the office.
The moment Artemis was gone, the tension in the atmosphere became lesser.
Without missing a beat, Bailey smacked the back of Victoria's head. “Did you leave your eyes at home today? Can't you see he
was harassing me?”
Victoria harrumphed. “If I did, I wouldn't have come in; I would've let him do as he pleased.”
Bailey froze when she heard that.
“You came in here on purpose to cause trouble?”
Victoria rolled her eyes, a little speechless by Bailey's response. “If the two of you really are a thing, and if I had come at the
wrong time, I would've left the room in silence. I wouldn't have been so insensitive as to disturb the both of you.”
Bailey mulled over her words and realized that Victoria made sense.
If Victoria had not come in, she would have had to endure that man's intentional teasing.
“Not bad. I'm glad you came in, or else... I never thought Artemis would be so unruly. He knew I gave birth to two of Simon's
children, and technically, he should be avoiding me. I really don't understand why he insists on clinging to me and even wants to
make us get caught in a scandal.”
Victoria shrugged and said nonchalantly, “He probably fell for you, my dear. Don't you know how excellent you are? The villain
Artemis has always had a unique eye for people. Perhaps he saw the radiating brilliance under your ordinary exterior.”
Bailey drew her brows together. “If that's the case, I can't stay in Luther Group anymore. How will the people look at Zayron and
Susan if rumors about us being involved start spreading?”
“I agree. I don't think you should stay in Luther Group's headquarters anymore, but Mr. Luther seems determined to keep you by
his side. Do you think you'll be able to escape?”
Bailey smirked. “Say, would the board of directors fire me if I were to make a strategic mistake that resulted in a major loss for
Luther Group?”
In the living room of the Jefferson residence, Rhonda was grabbing Beatrice's arms. It seemed that she had cried earlier, for
there were still tears in her eyes.
“Mom, what should we do? That b*tch Bailey is like a cockroach; she simply won't die! Now that everyone knows her son is
Simon's child, it'll be even harder for us to get her from now on!”
“What are you afraid of?” Beatrice pushed her away. “It's even better now. This will stop Artemis from wanting her, and he'll have
no choice but to marry you. As for Simon... Don't worry. Bailey broke Felicity's arm in front of so many people. There's no way
Felicity's going to let Bailey marry into the family.”
Hearing that, Rhonda sobbed, “You're right. What are we going to do next? Are we going to just let Bailey off like that?”
“Let her off?” Beatrice sneered. “The two of us will have to worry all the time as long as she stays in Hallsbay. Be at ease. I've
already come up with a plan to deal with her.”
A joyous look manifested on Rhonda's face. “What plan?”
