Chapter 301
Artemis sized up the blond woman on the floor before instinctively furrowing his brows.
He looked sideways at Dwayne and asked, “Who is she? Why don't I remember having an appointment to meet with a woman in
the CEO's office today?”
Dwayne scratched his nose and shifted his gaze onto the secretary.
The secretary shuddered fearfully and uttered in a trembling voice, “M-Mr. Luther, s-she's the winner of the Oscars' Best Actress
award, Ms. Rose, s-so...”
Artemis' face darkened. He stared at the secretary coldly and articulated each word, “So, you allowed her to take a shortcut by
coming up here without making an appointment?”
“Mr. Luther, I was wrong. I'll never—”
Without waiting for her to finish her sentence, Artemis waved his hand and said, “Go to the finance department to claim three
months' worth of salary and get the hell out of Luther Group.”
Colors drained from her face after she heard his instruction.
In the past, the secretary had done similar things. Whenever some important guests visited without making an appointment, she
would allow them to enter after deliberations.
Mr. Luther never scolded me and even praised me for my adaptiveness, but today... I don't think I've made any mistake since this
Oscars' Best Actress award winner commands a stellar reputation internationally. Perhaps Luther Group may even need to rely
on her to advertise our new products in the future. That's why I gave the receptionist the green light to let her come up without
first reporting to Mr. Derning. Mr. Luther is furious mainly because Ms. Rose ran into Ms. Jefferson.
Upon grasping that crucial point, the secretary immediately bowed at Bailey and apologized, “Ms. Jefferson, I'm terribly sorry. It is
my negligence at work for letting this unreasonable woman in and causing her to collide with you.”
Bailey arched her brow. This secretary is a smart person. Besides, Luther Group needs employees like her who know how to
smooth over problems. Naturally, she couldn't let Artemis dismiss a great talent like the secretary.
Bailey said to the secretary. “It's still working hours, so you should hurry up and return to work instead of staying here to take part
in this commotion. It'll be bad if you're innocently dragged into this mess later.”
Feeling as if she had just been pardoned, the secretary shot a grateful look at Bailey before hastily leaving the scene.
While they were talking, Rose's manager helped her up from the floor.
“Mr. Luther...”
A woman's soft and coquettish voice echoed in the long corridor.
Bailey shuddered as she felt goosebumps all over her body.
Rose's skittish, seductive, and charming tone as she called out Artemis' name could undoubtedly entice any man. One might
even lose himself in her allure if she continued flirting in such a manner.
“Mr. Luther, I suppose this dumb woman is one of Luther Group's employees? Shouldn't you fire her after she bumped into your
distinguished guest?”
“Distinguished guest?” Artemis raised his brows and smiled. “Who is that? Are you referring to yourself?”
“That's right.” Rose shook her thick, curly blond hair and replied confidently, “As the winner of the Oscars' Best Actress award,
I'm the most esteemed guest no matter where I go. Although you're extremely wealthy, you cannot deny my international
eminence, am I right, Mr. Luther?”
The smirk on Artemis' face widened. Whenever he flashed such a sly smile, that was a sign that somebody's day was about to
turn south. That instant was not an exception too.
“As far as I'm concerned, you're supposed to win the Oscars' Best Actress award again this year. Is that correct, Ms. Rose?
Since you're so prestigious, what do you say I present the award to you as the sponsor by that time?”
An elated expression flashed across Rose's face.
There were two goals she aimed to achieve during her visit to Hallsbay. The first goal was to secure her honor of winning the
Oscars for the fourth consecutive year. Secondly, she wanted to win the affection of Artemis, the most outstanding bachelor in
Aploth.
In her opinion, among all the eligible bachelors in the whole world, Artemis was the only one worthy of being with her.
“Are you really willing to present the award to me onstage, Mr. Luther?”
Artemis grinned mischievously. “If you're able to win the award again, I'll definitely do you the honors.”
With that, he turned around and said to Dwayne, “I've finished my discussion with Ms. Rose. You can see her off now.”
The smile on Rose's face wavered. She glared at Bailey and uttered fiercely, “This woman knocked into me. She needs to be
punished.”
Artemis shrugged and took two steps back. “I also think she needs to be punished. Feel free to do as you please.”
After saying that, he strode toward his office. When he walked past Bailey, he whispered, “Honey, do as you wish. I'll have your
back even if you cripple or kill her.”
Bailey glanced at him. This assertive and almighty man can be so impressive when he acts cool.
Two minutes later, ambulance sirens rang out outside Luther Group's building.
Immediately afterward, four men and two women were carried out from the premise by a group of bodyguards dressed in black
outfits.
Meanwhile, a young woman sat on a couch beside the window in the deputy CEO's office at Fashionista. She lowered her head,
seemingly in deep thought.
Sitting opposite her was a corpulent middle-aged man staring at her in exasperation. He uttered impatiently, “You're both
actresses who signed contracts with LG Corporation, but take a look at Rose. She knows how to curry favor with the wealthy and
powerful and is adept at pleasing those business tycoons. As a result, she's won the Oscars' Best Actress award for four
consecutive years. What about you? Fashionista channeled all its resources on you, so why can't you reciprocate and bring glory
to the company?”
The man who spoke was Paul Zielinski, the deputy CEO of Fashionista, while the woman sitting across from him was Rainie
Yeanisky, a locally famous actress in recent years.
“Mr. Zielinski, Rainie cannot be held entirely responsible in this matter.” Rainie's manager chimed in at once, “Everyone knows
Rose is acquainted with Mr. Gezmond's wife, Ms. Wendy. Regardless of how capable Rainie is, she can never match against
someone close to the wife of LG Corporation's CEO.”
Paul paced in circles inside the office after hearing that. Then, he bellowed, “In that case, you should think of ways to butter up
those rich and influential figures. Rainie, you don't think I know Sylvester Hollett, the eldest son of the most prominent family in
the Golden Triangle area, has been pursuing you recently? Can't you let go of your pride and indifference to try and please him
so that you can rely on his stature to help you win this year's Oscars' Best Actress award?”
Rainie suddenly looked up at Paul with teary eyes and sobbed, “Mr. Zielinski, we've agreed that I'm only selling my skills and not
my body when we signed the contract. How can you suggest such an unreasonable request now?”
Stumped, Paul glowered at her. “Fine. You're the most dignified and noble person in this universe, and you'll never resort to
climbing the corporate ladder with disdainful methods. But let me warn you. If you are still unable to win the Oscars' Best Actress
award this year, you'll have to terminate your contract with Fashionista. I don't fancy keeping useless people in my company.”
With that, he threw his hands up and left the office in a huff.
Rainie regarded her manager, Angie Hayes, with a tear-stricken face and asked hoarsely, “Angie, what should I do now?”
Angie walked up to Rainie and sat beside the latter before comforting her, “Rainie, I think Mr. Hollett is genuinely trying to win
your affection. W-Why don't you heed Mr. Zielinski's advice and meet up with Mr. Hollett to see if he can help you win this year's
Oscars' Best Actress award?”
Rainie pursed her lips as a look of utter despair flashed across her eyes.
