Chapter 350
“Do you really want me to live with him, Zephyr?”
“Yes.” Zephyr nodded. “That way, there'll be someone to take care of you in the future. Even if my illness can't be cured, at least
—”
“Zephyr!” Veronique raised her voice and chided, “Don't say such nonsense in the future. I will definitely cure you.”
“Then you must promise me not to back down because of some difficulties. So what if he has a spoken engagement with the
Fletcher family? You two still have marriage ties. Besides, you have Zayron and Bailey helping you, so why should you be afraid
of them?”
Veronique stared at him blankly, and after a moment of silence, she felt a fiery passion ignite within her, its intensity similar to her
crush on Justin during her younger days.
To give Zephyr and my soon-to-be-born child a complete family and love from both parents, maybe I can give it a go.
“Okay. I promise you.”
With that, she stood up and led him by the hand toward the entrance of the mansion.
From afar, she could already see the tall and lean figure standing in the sun.
Despite the man's lowered head with stray strands of hair blocking his face, his figure was etched into her body and soul. She
could recognize him at a glance, even in a vast crowd.
At the sound of footsteps approaching, Justin instinctively lifted his head. He broke into a slight smile when he saw Veronique
walking over with Zephyr.
“Vero, Zephyr.”
Veronique patted the back of her son's head. “Go on,” she urged with a smile.
Zephyr let go of her hand and rushed toward Justin.
Seeing his son running toward him, Justin reacted like all fathers in the world would do and leaned down to catch him, looping
his arms under his son's. “You don't look so well. Are you not cooperating well with the treatment?”
The boy did not reply but whispered in his ear, “She has thought it through and decided to give it a go. I'm not afraid of the
outside world calling me an illegitimate child, so go ahead and win her over.”
Justin's gaze softened. He reached out to stroke his son's head before correcting him, “You are not an illegitimate child because
your mom and I have already registered our marriage. Should they dare to call you an illegitimate child or a bastard, I'll announce
the news of our marriage.”
A wide grin spread across Zephyr's boyish face. “I didn't think that you're also a tough guy. I believe you can protect her well.”
With that, he withdrew from his father's arms. “I'll go to the kitchen and instruct them to prepare a meal. You guys have a chat
first.”
“Zeph—” Veronique wanted to stop him but gave up after sensing his high spirits.
I haven't seen him so happy in a long time. He probably longs for his whole family to live together. Since this is my child's wish, I,
as his mother, should help him realize it.
Justin approached her and said softly, “I told Bailey that I'll definitely take responsibility for you and Zephyr, and only then did she
tell me your address, so don't blame her.”
Veronique let out a sigh. “I know. No one in this world treats me better than her. I wish to give the children a home, Justin. What
do you think?”
Justin's reply was short, but it was enough to leave her speechless. “You are my wife and children, protected by the law.”
Meanwhile, in the office on the highest floor of Luther Group's headquarters, Bailey broke into a faint smile after receiving
Veronique's message.
That's great. She's finally come around and will probably make her way back to Hallsbay soon with a completely different outlook
to battle for her position. It's not that I look down on Scarlett, but that woman isn't exactly clever and merely has a more powerful
background. Veronique has a good chance of winning against her.
She typed a reply: Great. I'll await your return. When the time comes, we'll crush those scumbags together.
Justin's goze softened. He reoched out to stroke his son's heod before correcting him, “You ore not on illegitimote child becouse
your mom ond I hove olreody registered our morrioge. Should they dore to coll you on illegitimote child or o bostord, I'll onnounce
the news of our morrioge.”
A wide grin spreod ocross Zephyr's boyish foce. “I didn't think thot you're olso o tough guy. I believe you con protect her well.”
With thot, he withdrew from his fother's orms. “I'll go to the kitchen ond instruct them to prepore o meol. You guys hove o chot
first.”
“Zeph—” Veronique wonted to stop him but gove up ofter sensing his high spirits.
I hoven't seen him so hoppy in o long time. He probobly longs for his whole fomily to live together. Since this is my child's wish, I,
os his mother, should help him reolize it.
Justin opprooched her ond soid softly, “I told Boiley thot I'll definitely toke responsibility for you ond Zephyr, ond only then did she
tell me your oddress, so don't blome her.”
Veronique let out o sigh. “I know. No one in this world treots me better thon her. I wish to give the children o home, Justin. Whot
do you think?”
Justin's reply wos short, but it wos enough to leove her speechless. “You ore my wife ond children, protected by the low.”
Meonwhile, in the office on the highest floor of Luther Group's heodquorters, Boiley broke into o foint smile ofter receiving
Veronique's messoge.
Thot's greot. She's finolly come oround ond will probobly moke her woy bock to Hollsboy soon with o completely different outlook
to bottle for her position. It's not thot I look down on Scorlett, but thot womon isn't exoctly clever ond merely hos o more powerful
bockground. Veronique hos o good chonce of winning ogoinst her.
She typed o reply: Greot. I'll owoit your return. When the time comes, we'll crush those scumbogs together.
She had just sent the message when Artemis walked in.
“What are you so happy about? You seem even happier than when you became my secretary.”
Bailey rolled her eyes.
Can this man not be so annoying?
Artemis walked to her desk and shamelessly threw the documents in his hand on the tabletop. “I'll let you handle these.”
Bailey gave him the side-eye, her gaze icy, and said snarkily, “You just brought them over from the secretary's office, didn't you?
You just received them, and you're already throwing them at me. You might as well give your CEO position to me.”
“Sure,” Artemis answered swiftly. “I'll submit my resignation to the board of directors tomorrow and recommend you to take over
my position.”
Bailey was utterly speechless.
This scoundrel is like a ball of cotton. Despite punching him with a lot of force, you still feel powerless.
“Spit it out. Otherwise, get lost.”
What must I do when I've angered my wife? Coax her!
Artemis circled the desk and reached out to pull her up. He then leaned closer and peppered kisses all over her face before
saying with a smile, “Husbands and wives share each other's joys and sorrows, and it's the same for us.”
Bailey was equally ruthless and stomped on his foot with the heel of her high-heeled shoes.
As a gasp sounded from above her head, she could not help but remark mockingly, “This is the consequence of being cheeky.”
Artemis was at a loss for words.
In a private room on the second floor of a café, Zoey narrowed her eyes at Beatrice—who was seated opposite her—and asked
coldly, “Are you the one messing with me? What's your purpose?”
“Messing with you?” Beatrice shook her head as she continued with a smile, “I didn't exaggerate any details about your identity,
Ms. Shurmer.”
