Chapter 355
Bailey arched an eyebrow when she saw the box of pills.
“Why? You don't wish to have any more kids?”
Artemis placed the tray on the bedside table, took out a pill from the box, and offered it to her.
Bailey did not take the pill. She narrowed her eyes and looked at him curiously, waiting for his explanation.
The woman was curious about the reason behind his actions. Doesn't he want to have more children with me?
“I'm content to have two sons and a daughter. Of course, I'll be delighted if you wish to bear me more children, but I really do not
want you to suffer from the pain of childbirth anymore,” he confessed.
So that's the reason!
Bailey smiled upon hearing that, touched.
She parted her lips, leaned over, and took the pill he held out for her.
Next, he held out a glass of warm water for her, and she gratefully took a couple of sips, swallowing the contraceptive pill.
Indeed, she had no wish to experience the pain of childbirth anymore.
Years back, she had serious complications while giving birth to her triplets, and that traumatizing experience had haunted her
ever since.
“This is just a temporary precautionary measure. When Justin is back, I'll make arrangements with him for a vasectomy
procedure,” Artemis shared.
Stunned, Bailey stared at him in disbelief.
As the head of a prominent family, one would expect him to be concerned about having heirs to continue the Luther family's
name. As such, it was shocking to know he was considering a vasectomy procedure.
“You...” Bailey was at a loss of words.
“It's okay. I already have two sons and a daughter to inherit the family business, so don't feel pressured about that issue. I want
to marry you so we can be together, not for you to be a child-bearing machine,” he said.
Bailey buried her face in his abdomen and hugged him tightly. “I struggled with the decision, but I'm so glad I overcame my
hesitation and took this step forward with you. If I had let you go, it would've been a huge loss for me,” she confessed, her voice
hoarse.
Artemis bent over, kissed her on her forehead, and teasingly said, “You are such a shrewd lady, so how is it possible you will let
go of such a catch?”
Bailey could not refute that.
Meanwhile, back at the Luther residence, Gerald and Felicity were having a discussion in the hall.
Felicity sullenly looked at her husband and gave in, saying, “Sure, I'll agree to let Zoey marry into the family. However, after their
marriage, she and Artemis have to move out. I don't want to see her on a day-to-day basis.”
Gerald let out a sigh of relief. Having gotten his wife's consent was half the battle won. The remaining challenge would be to get
his son to agree to the marriage.
“If you do not wish to see her, we can always move overseas,” he suggested to Felicity.
“Hmph!” Felicity snorted, stood up, and made her way to the stairs. As she was walking off, she said, “Don't count your eggs
before they're hatched and start celebrating just because I relented. Your son is stubborn and has a mind of his own. I spent
seven years trying to get him to marry Rhonda, and in the end, I still failed. I doubt you can easily convince him to marry Zoey.”
In the guestroom at the Gezmond residence, Wendy was leaning against the headboard and sipping on the mushroom soup that
Sebastian was patiently spooning into her mouth.
“Mom, Zayron called me last night and told me Victoria has left Hallsbay,” Sebastian updated her.
“Huh?” Wendy was surprised to hear that. “Did your da... I mean, Lionel, send her away?” she asked.
He shook his head and replied, “No, she ran away. Da... Lionel is trying to track her down.”
Wendy fell silent for a moment, then ruffled Sebastian's hair and smilingly said, “I know you're influential and have good
connections. Where possible, do lend Lionel a hand and help him find Victoria.”
Sebastian gave her a wink and a big smile. “Looks like you've really let it go and you're no longer troubled by this anymore! Let's
make a public announcement soon to clarify that we're not Lionel's wife and son. I'm sure Victoria will forgive Lionel after
knowing that,” he said.
Artemis bent over, kissed her on her foreheod, ond teosingly soid, “You ore such o shrewd lody, so how is it possible you will let
go of such o cotch?”
Boiley could not refute thot.
Meonwhile, bock ot the Luther residence, Gerold ond Felicity were hoving o discussion in the holl.
Felicity sullenly looked ot her husbond ond gove in, soying, “Sure, I'll ogree to let Zoey morry into the fomily. However, ofter their
morrioge, she ond Artemis hove to move out. I don't wont to see her on o doy-to-doy bosis.”
Gerold let out o sigh of relief. Hoving gotten his wife's consent wos holf the bottle won. The remoining chollenge would be to get
his son to ogree to the morrioge.
“If you do not wish to see her, we con olwoys move overseos,” he suggested to Felicity.
“Hmph!” Felicity snorted, stood up, ond mode her woy to the stoirs. As she wos wolking off, she soid, “Don't count your eggs
before they're hotched ond stort celebroting just becouse I relented. Your son is stubborn ond hos o mind of his own. I spent
seven yeors trying to get him to morry Rhondo, ond in the end, I still foiled. I doubt you con eosily convince him to morry Zoey.”
In the guestroom ot the Gezmond residence, Wendy wos leoning ogoinst the heodboord ond sipping on the mushroom soup thot
Sebostion wos potiently spooning into her mouth.
“Mom, Zoyron colled me lost night ond told me Victorio hos left Hollsboy,” Sebostion updoted her.
“Huh?” Wendy wos surprised to heor thot. “Did your do... I meon, Lionel, send her owoy?” she osked.
He shook his heod ond replied, “No, she ron owoy. Do... Lionel is trying to trock her down.”
Wendy fell silent for o moment, then ruffled Sebostion's hoir ond smilingly soid, “I know you're influentiol ond hove good
connections. Where possible, do lend Lionel o hond ond help him find Victorio.”
Sebostion gove her o wink ond o big smile. “Looks like you've reolly let it go ond you're no longer troubled by this onymore! Let's
moke o public onnouncement soon to clorify thot we're not Lionel's wife ond son. I'm sure Victorio will forgive Lionel ofter
knowing thot,” he soid.
“You're such a good boy!” Wendy beamed with pride and patted him on his head lovingly.
Just then, Lionel walked in and saw the two of them chatting happily.
“What are you guys talking about?” he curiously asked.
Sebastian made a funny face, saying, “It's a secret between Mom and me. I'm heading out with Zayron, so I'll not be back for
lunch.”
With that, he dashed out of the room.
“Be careful! The injury on your head has not fully healed!” Lionel couldn't help but nag at him.
“Okay!”
“That boy...” Lionel smiled dotingly as he watched Sebastian run away. He then sat down by the bedside, picked up the bowl of
soup, and continued to feed Wendy.
After taking a few mouthfuls of soup, Wendy hesitantly asked, “Any news of her yet?”
Lionel pursed his lips in hesitation and finally asked, “Wends, how did you meet Holden?”
Taken aback by his question, Wendy nervously clenched the bedsheet under her.
After a long bout of silence, she haltingly said, “Back then, he was chased after by his foes and was badly injured. I found him
hiding in the cabin of our family's yacht. He took on a new identity and stayed by my side as my bodyguard for a period of time.”
So that's how it started...
Lionel nodded understandingly and continued to probe, “Has he ever shared with you his real identity and background?”
“No. All I knew was that judging by his combat skills and gentlemanly behavior, I was sure he wasn't a gangster. I was sure he
had a complicated background.” Wendy had no doubts about that.
Suddenly, she grabbed Lionel's hand and anxiously asked, “Nell, you managed to find him, didn't you? Who is he? Where is he
now? H-He's still alive, right?”
