Chapter 378
In the living room of a five-star hotel suite, Tamara and Scarlett glared at Raiden with fury etched across their faces.
“What are you talking about, Raiden? Why should I donate my bone marrow to that illegitimate child? You were against that idea
previously, so why have you suddenly changed your tune?”
After she said that, something seemed to occur to her, and everything clicked. “It's Bailey, am I right? She persuaded you into
getting my bone marrow. Raiden, are you seriously going to sacrifice your sister because of that depraved woman?”
Tamara added, “There's no chance I'll agree to let Lettie donate her bone marrow. You can banish that thought. Also, you need to
stay away from that woman. She has Artemis protecting her, and you don't have to concern yourself with that. With the way you
hang around her so eagerly, are you trying to announce to the whole world that no other women are interested in the Fletcher
family's heir?”
Raiden frowned.
I knew this would happen. Nonetheless, I wanted to give it a shot. Since I've already tried and the outcome isn't satisfactory, I
can only resolve this with a high hand.
“All right, then. Seeing that neither of you is agreeable to it, I won't force it. Just pretend I never said anything.”
With that, he rose to his feet and left the suite.
The mother-daughter pair glanced at each other. Scarlett asked, “What should we do next, Mom?”
For a moment, Tamara fell silent. Then, she said reassuringly, “We'll wait for news from Olivia. She'll give us a satisfactory reply.”
After pondering for a while, Scarlett piped up, “Mom, Bailey has influenced Raiden's mind. That's not a good sign. I'm worried
he'll insist she's the only one he wants to be with and end up getting hurt. He's your only son. You wouldn't want to see him
ruined by that woman's hands.”
“I'll think of a way to make him abandon that notion,” Tamara uttered through clenched teeth.
Meanwhile, Bailey was performing a checkup on Veronique at the medical base.
Veronique grabbed Bailey's wrist and asked desperately, “Bay, do you have any way of making my uterus recover quickly?
Zephyr doesn't have much time left. I need to produce another test-tube baby as soon as possible.”
“Even someone who suffered a normal miscarriage would have to recuperate for a month, let alone you who just underwent in
vitro fertilization. Three months. There must be no stimulus to the uterus for three months. Otherwise, I swear on my life that I'll
remove it,” Bailey responded furiously while shooting her a stern look.
“Three months...” Veronique mumbled. Upon thinking of Zephyr's condition, she could not help but cry as she muttered, “Three
months is too long. Zephyr can't wait. Bay, I know you must have a way. I'm begging you. Please help me, okay?”
In the living room of a five-star hotel suite, Tamara and Scarlett glared at Raiden with fury etched across their faces.
Bailey sat on the edge of the bed and held Veronique's wrist. Then, she said slowly and clearly, “Listen carefully. I've already
found a way to cure Zephyr, so you can stop thinking about producing a test-tube baby anymore.”
However, Veronique did not believe her. “You're only saying that to make me feel better.”
Gazing at Veronique, Bailey said solemnly, “No, I'm not. I won't let anything happen to Zephyr, and if all else fails, I'll kidnap
Scarlett. One vial of anesthetic will be enough to knock her out. After that, I'll take some bone marrow from her body.”
Veronique stared at her wordlessly.
“I know what I'm doing, Vero. Are you really that worried about how I handle things? All you need to do is rest and focus on
recovering. Once I've settled the matter regarding the bone marrow, I'll operate on you to remove your uterus,” Bailey said as
she stretched out a hand to pat Veronique's head.
Veronique was about to say something when Artemis and Justin walked in.
With just one glance at Artemis' expression, Bailey immediately knew something was amiss. She quickly went over and asked,
“What happened?”
Artemis pulled her out of the ward without saying anything.
“What's wrong? Did something happen?”
He sighed and explained slowly, “Micah stood in the rain the whole of last night and fell unconscious early this morning. After his
fever subsided, he called me and said he had to see you. If you don't meet with him, he'll go straight to Shannon.”
He was quiet for several seconds before continuing, “Shannon might've said something to him. He's behaving very strangely. If
he acts rashly and goes looking for Shannon, I'm worried it'll cause your friend pain.”
Seething with rage, Bailey gnashed her teeth. She hissed through gritted teeth, “Where is he now?”
“I'll take you to him.”
After leaving the medical base, Artemis and Bailey drove to Lunar Bar.
When Bailey pushed open the door to the private room on the top floor, she was greeted by an overwhelming smell of alcohol.
A myriad of thoughts raced through her mind as she stared at empty bottles littering the floor.
Artemis said Shannon told Micah something, and that caused Micah to spiral out of control. Micah knows about Shannon's
missing arm, and even that didn't affect him much. So, all that's left is...
At that thought, Bailey no longer hesitated. She strode over to the couch, then reached out and grabbed Micah by his collar. She
sneered, “What's the use of getting drunk? Even if you die a thousand deaths, you wouldn't be able to atone for what you did.”
Boiley sot on the edge of the bed ond held Veronique's wrist. Then, she soid slowly ond cleorly, “Listen corefully. I've olreody
found o woy to cure Zephyr, so you con stop thinking obout producing o test-tube boby onymore.”
However, Veronique did not believe her. “You're only soying thot to moke me feel better.”
Gozing ot Veronique, Boiley soid solemnly, “No, I'm not. I won't let onything hoppen to Zephyr, ond if oll else foils, I'll kidnop
Scorlett. One viol of onesthetic will be enough to knock her out. After thot, I'll toke some bone morrow from her body.”
Veronique stored ot her wordlessly.
“I know whot I'm doing, Vero. Are you reolly thot worried obout how I hondle things? All you need to do is rest ond focus on
recovering. Once I've settled the motter regording the bone morrow, I'll operote on you to remove your uterus,” Boiley soid os
she stretched out o hond to pot Veronique's heod.
Veronique wos obout to soy something when Artemis ond Justin wolked in.
With just one glonce ot Artemis' expression, Boiley immediotely knew something wos omiss. She quickly went over ond osked,
“Whot hoppened?”
Artemis pulled her out of the word without soying onything.
“Whot's wrong? Did something hoppen?”
He sighed ond exploined slowly, “Micoh stood in the roin the whole of lost night ond fell unconscious eorly this morning. After his
fever subsided, he colled me ond soid he hod to see you. If you don't meet with him, he'll go stroight to Shonnon.”
He wos quiet for severol seconds before continuing, “Shonnon might've soid something to him. He's behoving very strongely. If
he octs roshly ond goes looking for Shonnon, I'm worried it'll couse your friend poin.”
Seething with roge, Boiley gnoshed her teeth. She hissed through gritted teeth, “Where is he now?”
“I'll toke you to him.”
After leoving the medicol bose, Artemis ond Boiley drove to Lunor Bor.
When Boiley pushed open the door to the privote room on the top floor, she wos greeted by on overwhelming smell of olcohol.
A myriod of thoughts roced through her mind os she stored ot empty bottles littering the floor.
Artemis soid Shonnon told Micoh something, ond thot coused Micoh to spirol out of control. Micoh knows obout Shonnon's
missing orm, ond even thot didn't offect him much. So, oll thot's left is...
At thot thought, Boiley no longer hesitoted. She strode over to the couch, then reoched out ond grobbed Micoh by his collor. She
sneered, “Whot's the use of getting drunk? Even if you die o thousond deoths, you wouldn't be oble to otone for whot you did.”
Micah cracked open his eyes to look at her.
Despite having had a lot to drink, he did not look inebriated. “What happened back then?” he asked hoarsely.
Bailey was stunned.
She narrowed her eyes as she met his gaze.
Moments later, Micah's gaze gradually became unfocused.
She had hypnotized him.
“Were you the one who orchestrated the car accident that happened four years ago?”
He shook his head in response.
“Did you send someone to hunt down and kill Shannon and her son?”
Micah shook his head again.
Upon seeing that, Bailey sighed.
I believe him because no one can break away from my hypnosis. It looks like there are still many unknown truths hidden behind
that accident. That incident is far from how simple it appears.
She snapped her fingers, and Micah gradually returned to his senses.
Furrowing his brows, he asked frostily, “What did you just do to me?”
Bailey shrugged her shoulders. “What's wrong? Did you think I would kill you with your sworn brother here?”
“If you really wanted to kill me, that guy behind you would probably hand you a dagger without a second thought,” he retorted
with a cold snort.
Oh?
She turned to gaze at Artemis with a look that asked whether that was true, and he actually nodded shamelessly.
Ha ha. So that's what sworn brothers are for.
“The two of you must have a lot to talk about. I'll step outside, then.”
Bailey reached out to stop him and shook her head. “You don't have to leave. It's nothing confidential.”
With that, she turned toward Micah on the couch. “Sit up. Let's have a good chat.”
Will it be less painful for Shannon if we resolve this horrible misunderstanding? Although there's no way to bring Eugene back to
life, it'd probably make her feel a little better to know that the man she loved didn't cause her son's death. She has had it tough,
and if uncovering the truth behind the accident will ease her pain, then there couldn't be anything better.
After Micah sat up straight, his first question was, “Shannon had a child. Was the child mine?”
Bailey nodded. She took her phone from her pocket, logged into a private database, and retrieved a photo. Then, she handed
the phone to him.
In the photo, an adorable boy around two years old was beaming innocently.
“His name was Eugene.”
