I don't know if it's due to my lack of sleep, but seeing the father and son get carried by Priestess Harumi to the medical bay lifted my mood. My expression turned into a smile as I leaned back deep into the throne.
Remembering the scared look that Fatty had was enough to quell all my anger against him. Honestly, now that I have Ember, Fang, and Igni by my side, I have completely forgotten all about him.
After basking in the aftertaste of revenge, I opened my eyes to see the scared faces of the rest of the town mayors who entered with Fatty and his father. When I stared in their direction, for some reason, they all prostrated on the ground and begged.
"""Please spare our lives, Clan Head Will! We swear to never cross the Luo and the Seimei family from now until future generations to come!"""
Did they practice that? They were in such perfect sync that I'd believe it if someone told me they coordinated what to say before entering.
The contents were pretty disturbing, though. Their words could be taken as swearing loyalty to the Luo and Seimei families. Wouldn't the royal palace want to have a word with me when they learned of this?
"I have no need for promises you can easily break."
I muttered blandly. This should be the right response to avoid conflict with the royal palace.
The town mayors twitched a little after hearing my words before they all started shivering like little pigs out on a cold, rainy night. They all didn't show signs of standing up, which made me raise my brows a little.
"What's wrong? Do you still have business with me? If not, then scram!"
Hearing my shout, the ten town mayors quickly raced to the door, as if running for their lives. Was my voice that scary? I guess my irritation from the lack of sleep is seeping into my speech. I sighed as I adjusted my mood, only to realize that Igni beside me was looking at me with an intoxicated expression.
"Ahh... more, my Lord... Give me more of that reprimanding look..."
She was muttering such words under her breath, which was of course audible to me, who was right beside her. I almost reflexively pulled my arm out of her bosom, but my instinct as a man prevented me from doing so.
I was always wondering why Igni followed us almost immediately in the past. She even used the excuse of "repaying the favor" to stay and eventually become one of my tamed monsters.
'Was the way I manhandled her the first time we met the greatest reason?'
I honestly wondered.
She doesn't seem to be masochistic but rather has a more specific kink. I guess she likes a dominant master or something.
Anyway, as I was lost in thought, a few more visitors entered and greeted me. They were too many to count, though, so I mostly forgot their names right after hearing them from their mouths. I know it's not fitting for a clan head like me to forget their names, but my mind was already starting to blur the lines between dream and reality.
In the end, only the lower-ranking nobles, like the town mayors, and the commoners went to greet me inside the hall. The higher officials, including the king and his entourage, quickly went away after my initial greeting. They were not the type to greet someone like me, who was just a clan head, in such a manner.
Instead, I was scheduled for a meeting with them on separate dates. My schedule was being managed by Aunt Luo, so there was no need to worry about that.
After the feast, when I finally managed to return to the Seimei residence, inside the office, I was hearing Guren talk about how I was called by the commoners and the few nobles behind my back.
"You got labeled the Cold-Blooded Clan Head! Can you imagine that? Hahaha!"
He laughed heartily, fully enjoying my title, which honestly didn't fit my normal attitude. It must have been those few town mayors who spread the story about Fatty and his father, leading to this misunderstanding. I can't help but sigh.
Guren wiped the tears he had from laughing too hard before looking in my direction while nodding his head in approval.
"Anyway, with this, you're finally a fully grown clan head. You won't need my support anymore." contemporary romance
Guren muttered with his hands to his waist, a satisfied smile on his face. He must be thinking that now, with me taking over the clan head position for both the Luo and Seimei clans, he can now be free... But I wouldn't let the one who dragged me into all this be much freer than I am.
"What are you talking about? You sound like you'd be leaving after today. We still have more work to do tomorrow, P.R.I.M.E. M.I.N.I.S.T.E.R. Guren."
I smirked as I looked at his face, slowly turning green from realization.
"You! You made me the prime minister of the Seimei?!"
He shouted in disbelief.
However, as the clan head of two families, I need to have representatives for both sides to manage the bulk of things for me. The Luo already had Lady Luo for the prime minister position there. From the Seimei, after a stealthy discussion with the other branch family heads, they all agreed to keep Guren as the prime minister.
Although I did work a little in the back to make that happen, about half of the branch family heads were of the same mind as me. Even without my help, Guren would still end up in that position.
"Ahh! And here I was, planning the journey I would have to take to become stronger! Damn!"
Guren cradled his head as he squirmed in place. I just smiled at the sight, satisfied that I had made him feel even a fraction of the resignation that I felt. At this moment, a messenger came in, his face grim.
"Clan Head! I have something to report!"
He announced as he kneeled right before the door. I quickly waved him to enter, hearing the news that he was carrying.
"The Demon Tamers are on the move... and they attacked the capital!"
... Again?
