*BAM!*
As soon as the portal closed, I landed on my backside. It was a given since I was tugged back in forcefully, but honestly, it was painful.
"That Void Beast..."
Still, my mind was stuck, considering the powerful being that popped out of the egg. It was supposedly a Void Beast, but its appearance was largely different compared to the one that Fatima destroyed.
A humanoid form, but gigantic. If it had wings, then I could probably say that it was a fallen angel or something. However, instead, it possessed a powerful, tough-looking purple armor covering its entire body.
From appearances alone, it must be tougher than even the gorilla-like Void Beast from before.
"..."
But more than those features, the red eyes, filled with a burning desire to kill anything and everything around me, left the deepest impression on me.
For sure, if we left things alone as is, then all the humans, monsters, and beasts around the globe would end up wiped out!
"We need to do something, but what can we do?"
It was a dilemma.
Right now, just defending our borders is more than we can afford. That was even after considering we have four god tamers and several god-level monsters with us.
The situation in other countries would be, without a doubt, far worse than ours.
[Right as we woke up, you're already in a pinch. Should we begin calling you Princess Pinch from now on?]
"...!"
A familiar voice echoed inside my head, filling my despairing mind with hope. It was the second of the five regressors living inside my soulscape!
"Brother Mountain, you're awake!"
After they taught me everything they could to survive the battle against Noir and the God-level Demon Shark back then, they ended up needing to fall into a dormant state. They said it would take a long time for them to recover, but who would've thought it was just a few months' worth of time?!
[Right, we all are. And it looks like trouble is chasing you as always.]
"Well, you know how terrible my luck is, after all..."
Before I even learned the flames of evolution and regression, my karma had always been in pretty bad shape. Now, I'm trying to recover their values, but the process isn't going as fast as I hoped.
My good karma increased faster than my bad karma, but thankfully, both of them were rising gradually over time.
Anyway, now that they're awake, I can finally harness the wisdom of these oldies!
[... You're thinking of something rude just now, aren't you? It shows on your face.]
"What? There's no way I would do such a thing! Rather than that, now that you're all awake, I want to get your opinion about our current dilemma."
I closed my eyes, turning to view my inner world, and met with the five of them once more. As usual, within the dark, seemingly endless void, only the familiar round table and six chairs were present in this barren space.
"Welcome back here, Will."
The man with bulky muscles, looking like a boulder, Brother Mountain, greeted me with a smile.
"Yeah, it's also nice to see you five back in the game."
Primo, who looked like a wise elder. Brother Mountain is reliable and friendly, as usual. Tres, who looks like he is always deep in thought, releases a gentle air around him. Death was as prickly as always, with a deep frown on his face. Finally, Mr. Invincible radiates his unchanging, endless confidence.
Their five similar but different handsome faces felt nostalgic for me.
"Although I, myself, want to enjoy this reunion, you have an urgent matter at hand, right?"
Primo asked, placing his two hands over the table and supporting his chin.
"Come, tell us what happened."contemporary romance
Right. Although time doesn't pass in this space, maintaining it consumes these five's energy.
"Actually..."
I tried to summarize everything that was happening as briefly as possible. The five of them, even Death, listened attentively until the end.
"The Otherside having an anomaly... Nothing of that sort occurred during our time."
"It's supposedly related to the Singularity if what those angel thingy said is to be trusted, but..."
"Right. The current world doesn't have a fighting chance against it."
"Just kill everything, there! Problem solved!"
"As brash as usual, aren't you, Death? First of all, they would need to build muscles to have a fair chance at fighting back the god-level demon army!"
The five of them ignored me and discussed it among themselves. Well, it's fine, though, since listening to them is amusing in and of itself.
I stayed silent for a few minutes until, finally, they came to a decision.
"Will, how about uniting the remaining countries into one?"
Primo asked, or rather, suggested.
"With Zeshion and Zeta alive, they could swap the land of the other kingdoms with the surrounding land of your country."
"Alive"? What does he mean by that?
Anyway, in summary, the Regressors' suggestion was to gather all the remaining kingdoms into one area and unite them under a single banner.
With that, not only would the overall number of borders we have to defend shrink, but we would even gain excess hands to handle the offensive!
"That's... actually a nice idea."
But there are two obstacles to overcome before we can realize this plan. One is to convince all the remaining kingdoms to participate in it. The more kingdoms we could gather, the better the defenses would be.
And the second, biggest obstacle, is the required energy to actually move entire kingdoms.
Anyway, with this, we now have a plan, at least!
"Thank you for your wisdom, elders! I'll quickly return and relay this to everyone!"
I quickly left my soul space, with the angry but playful voice of Brother Mountain shouting, "Who are you calling Elders?!"
As soon as I returned to reality, the first thing I saw was the depressed look on everyone's faces. Right, thinking that we're about to fight against a Void Beast, an almost impossible-to-
overcome barrier, it was no wonder they would feel depressed.
"Everyone, don't worry, I got an idea!"
Just like that, I began to relay what the regressors had discussed. Slowly, everyone's faces turned a little bit better.
A glimpse of hope appeared in their expressions.
