Chapter 165
“Head to the kitchen and whip up a lunch for two. Pack it up. I’m heading out, Penelope ordered.
Lately, Lucian Lindberg contacted her less frequently, and even when she initiated contact, he claimed to be too busy with work.
Penelope was anxious because the child in her belly didn’t belong to the Lindberg family. She knew she had to take action
quickly!
Allison frowned. Cooking took time, and she needed to hightail it to the hospital.
“Ms. Flanagan, why don’t you have Lacey or Linda rustle up the lunch? They’re whizzing in the kitchen”
But Penelope didn’t like seeing Allison twiddling her thumbs. “I asked you to do it! You’re eating and living under my roof, yet
you’re not lifting a finger. What’s the use of you?”
Margo strutted in and quickly said to Penelope, “Miss, you’re pregnant. Don’t get your knickers in a twist. Allison, how dare you
backtalk? Get a move on!” Allison bit her lip, swallowed her emotions, and entered the kitchen.
She washed her hands, opened the fridge, and prepped the ingredients.
For lunch for two, she planned to make two plates of pasta with meat sauce, a roasted chicken, a seafood platter, and two
servings of porcini mushroom
soup.
It looks like she wouldn’t be able to make it to Mercy Grove Hospital this morning.
After she finished the dishes, Allison put them into a thermal box. While the soup simmered, she shot a text to Adrian.
“Mercy Grove Hospital is hiring part–timers. I’m thinking of heading there this afternoon.”
Adrian quickly replied, “I’m already at Mercy Grove. The security on the sixth floor is tight. Miss, we’ll talk more when you get
here.”
Just as Allison was about to reply. Margo’s scolding echoed from the kitchen door, “I knew you’d slack off!”
Without arguing, Allison pocketed her phone and got back to work.
Margo leaned against the door frame, raised an eyebrow, and smirked. “How are things with Randal?”
Margo had been calling him these past few days, only to be met with his exasperated attitude. When she asked about his
relationship with Allison, Randal straight up hung up on her. She was sure Allison had done something!
Allison was taken aback. Was she clueless about Randal being beaten to a pulp?
However, if she found out, she’d definitely kick up a fuss.
“Why are you asking me instead of him? Aren’t you his aunt?”
Margo walked in and said, “Randal is more than a match for you in every way! Look at yourself, still so picky! You should thank
your lucky stars that Randal is chasing after you”
“Why don’t you give him a call then? How would I know?”
Margo immediately whipped out her phone and dialed Randal.
He was still in the hospital, with his leg and arm in casts and his head bandaged. He was in so much pain that he was breathing
heavily. Two people were
with him.
“Margo, why are you calling me again?”
He was beyond fed up with Margo. That Allison was real work, with some big shot backing her. Now, he and his buddies had
been beaten black and blue. If he hurt Allison again, his life might be in danger.
At that moment, it seemed like his life was about to end.
