Chapter 1122
Susan’s heart was pounding out of her chest as she faced Lysander standing beside Thalassa like a towering oak. His very
presence was intimidating, and Susan cursed her
rotten luck.
Only moments ago, she had belittled Thalassa’s golf coach, and now she realized, to her horror, that Thalassa’s coach was none
other than Lysander himself!
Facing Lysander felt like standing in a lion’s den. Glancing at his striking, chiseled features, she instinctively took a step back,
panic etched across her face.
“Mr. Sinclair, I wasn’t speaking about you. I meant the coach that Thalassa mentioned, not...not you...I had no idea she was
talking about you.”
Susan’s attempt at an explanation made her feel like she was sinking deeper into quicksand. Once she finished, she noticed
Lysander’s icy gaze piercing her, and she clamped her mouth shut, overwhelmed with fear and confusion.
Lucy, too, had just pieced together that the coach Thalassa had been talking about was Lysander. Susan had insulted Lysander
to his face!
She felt a wave of secondhand embarrassment for Susan and nudged Bruce urgently, signaling for him to somehow bail Susan
out of this mess.
Bruce rolled his eyes without responding. Aside from her knack for the stock market, Lucy was clueless about pretty much
everything else. He had seen through Thalassa’s ploy from the start, while Lucy had blindly cheered her on. Now, with Susan
having
bad-mouthed Lysander in his very presence, her chances of ever winning him over were
shot.
Bruce had witnessed Thalassa’s cunning firsthand. Even he had been outsmarted by her, left hanging off a cliff. She was no
ordinary woman; otherwise, how could she have so thoroughly captured Lysander’s attention?
“Bruce, Lucy, now that we’ve wrapped up today’s business, is there anything else? Are you staying to play a round of golf?”
Ethan strolled over, his voice calm and collected.
“No, no, we’ve accomplished our main goal of discussing the Crawley Group with Mr. Ethan. We’ve invested, and now it’s time to
head back and await the news,” Bruce replied quickly, seizing the opportunity Ethan had given them to exit gracefully.
“Mr. Sinclair, Mr. Ethan, we’ll take our leave. Enjoy your game; we wouldn’t want to spoil your fun,” Bruce said, bowing and
scraping as he grabbed Lucy’s hand and tugged her to leave.
Lucy got the hint, but she was concerned about leaving Susan behind.
Without their support, wouldn’t Susan be even more vulnerable?

Susan, quick to read the room, chimed in, “Yes, yes, we wouldn’t want to interrupt Mr. Sinclair and Ms. Everhart’s game.”
Hastily, she sidled up to Lucy, clinging to the hem of her jacket, desperate not to be left behind in this den of lions.
Once the trio hastily departed, Thalassa’s professional smile faded. She turned to Lysander and said, “I’ve played my part. Can I
go now?”
Lysander’s deep gaze shifted to her. “Let’s leave together.”
“You and Mr. Ethan haven’t started your game yet. I don’t want to disrupt. I’ll head out on my own; you two can continue,”
Thalassa said, her voice seemingly calm but deliberately putting distance between herself and Lysander
Without waiting for his response, Thalassa turned and walked away, leaving Lysander to watch her retreating figure, enveloped
in the quiet gravity of the night.
He was well aware of her efforts to keep her distance. She’d rather walk alone than be with him, just like the night before, finding
any excuse to sleep separately.
