The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet (Thalassa and Elowen)

Chapter 1455

Back then, Lysander too had his head wrapped in bandages, lying still on the bed, and eventually he became comatose. The image haunted Thalassa, each memory a weight dragging her heart to the ocean floor, a mixture of heartache and pain.

She couldn't bear to see anyone she cared about end up in a vegetative state—not again.

Hunched over, Thalassa stood by Hertha's bedside, tears swirling in her eyes, her voice laden with guilt. "Hertha, I'm so sorry. I should never have let you drive home alone last night..."

Lydia stepped up beside her, offering a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Thalassa, the doctor said it's a severe concussion. With proper rest, she'll be fine. She won't end up like...well, you know."

Earlier, when Thalassa and Lydia had arrived, they'd checked in at the nurse's station for an update on Hertha. Thankfully, she'd been moved from the ICU to a regular room; the worst was over.

Straightening up, Thalassa wiped away the tears and introduced her friend to Lydia with a quivering voice. "This is Hertha, the one I've told you so much about. We met back in college. She's a wonderful person."

"If she's your friend, she's my friend too. Don't worry, she'll pull through," Lydia reassured her.

In the midst of their conversation, Thalassa's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw it was Bridget calling. Excusing herself, she stepped out of the room to take the call.

"Thalassa, why didn't Ms. Kensington come home last night? The kids woke up crying for Mommy this morning, and I had no idea what to tell them. She's never stayed out all night before."

Bridget had put the kids to bed the previous evening, thinking it was late and Hertha would be home soon. But as she lulled the children to sleep, exhaustion took over, and she too drifted off. Morning came all too quickly.

The children awoke and began their search for Hertha, their cries for Mommy growing more desperate by the minute. It was only then that Bridget remembered to check her phone, finding a missed call from Thalassa and returning it immediately.

The sudden absence of their mother had sent the toddlers into a panic; their sense of security was shattered.

Hearing this, Thalassa's heart ached even more. Hertha's accident had left the most vulnerable ones suffering—her children, at the tender age of two, were at the height of their attachment to their mother. Without Hertha by their side, they felt both panicked and afraid, worried about being abandoned.

"Hertha was in a car accident last night, Bridget. I only found out this morning," Thalassa explained.

"What? Ms. Kensington had an accident? How is she now?" Bridget's voice trembled with concern.

"She's out of danger, just under observation now."

"Mommy, I want Mommy..."

"Mommy, does Mommy not want us anymore..."

The children's voices, tinged with tears, were heart-wrenchingly sweet and desperate.

Unable to stand the thought of the children in distress, Thalassa quickly responded, "Bridget, Hertha's at Starhaven Hospital. Can you bring the kids over? Seeing their mom will help them feel better."
