Chapter 239
Thalassa was left dumbfounded.
Suddenly, it dawned on her. This was why the interviewer had said she had lots of work experience.
She originally thought it was because of all the jobs she had done over the years, sales, cleaning, factory work, waitressing, that
were considered as rich work experience.
But after Hertha’s explanation, she realized that the interviewer was actually interested in her one–day job as a secretary to the
president
at the Sinclair Group..
Yeah, that was right.
The Sinclair Group was indeed very powerful and prestigious.
Being a secretary there for a single day was even more valuable than her years of working experience.
Thalassa smiled, “I guess I really did luck out with Lysander.”
“You have talent, it’s just the companies in the past failed to see it. Now this company has given you a chance to show what
you’re made of, they will definitely be glad they chose you.” Hertha encouraged her.
Thalassa said, “Yeah, you’re right.”
Confidence made beauty.
Thalassa and Hertha clinked their glasses together again.
As they were about to take a sip, they heard a crisp female voice.
“Isn’t that Thalassa and Hertha? It is you guys!”
Thalassa and Hertha turned around and saw a woman who was both familiar and unfamiliar to them.
She was wearing an off–shoulder top, a black mini skirt. With heavy make up, she looked sexy and provocative.
Thalassa couldn’t recognize her.
Surprised, Hertha said, “Irene! What are you doing here?”
Irene was a university classmate of Thalassa and Hertha. They in the same class but not the same dormitory.
“We’re having our uni reunion here. We were just saying how some people haven’t arrived yet, and then we bumped into you
two. What a coincidence! Come and join us.” Irene invited them to a big table.
The bar was brightly lit, and under the flashing lights, a group of people were gathered around the table, some drinking, some
playing
games.
Irene shouted, “Everyone, look who I brought!”
“Hi everyone, long time no see.” Hertha greeted everyone.
Thalassa also smiled and said, “Hi everyone.”
There was a woman who was even sexier than Irene, her straight hair cascading down her shoulders, her lips painted a dark
red. She looked like a rebel. Her name was Debby, and she was pretty wild in university.
Debby glanced at Thalassa and sneered, “A dropout attending a uni reunion? Funny.”
Clearly, she was mocking Thalassa.
Thalassa felt annoyed
Hearing this, Hertha immediately got angry. “What did you just say?”
Seeing Hertha about to argue with Debby. Thalassa quickly grabbed her sleeve. Hertha turned around and saw Thalassa shake
her head, indicating her not to lose her cool.
Hertha swallowed her anger and stayed quiet.
Debby looked at Thalassa again and said disdainfully, “Dressed in cheap clothes and daring to come to a place like this, you
should know your place.”
Debby was clearly picking on Thalassa.
Even Thalassa, normally good–tempered, was getting pissed off.
As long as clothes could be worn and keep her warm, that’s enough. Were expensive clothes truly better?
She worked hard to provide for her four kids, striving to give them a good life. Why should she be criticized for being thrifty?
Hertha couldn’t help but scoff, “Debby, are you still bitter about back in the day when you fancied Leopold, but he only had eyes
for Thalassa? So petty to hold a grudge after all these years.”
“I think I heard my name.”
At that moment, a voice that was both teasing and gentle sounde
