Chapter 905
“Bruce?” Thalassa’s face instantly contorted with rage and disgust as she wiped away her tear and said firmly, “I’m calling the
cops right now!”
She made a move to get out of bed to find her phone.
Evelyn’s grip on her wrist trembled as she spoke in a terrified whisper, “Don’t call the cops, Thalassa, please don’t!”
Turning back to Evelyn, Thalassa saw the fear and shame in her eyes, which only heightened her own concern. “If we get the
police to lock him up for decades, he won’t be able to hurt anyone else.”
“He’s got a video,” Evelyn choked out between sobs. “He said if I go to the police, he’ll leak it online. And with how things spread
these days... if it gets out, I... I...” She couldn’t finish the sentence.
Thalassa had just pulled her back from the brink.
“What?” Thalassa was shaking with shock and fury.
What a scumbag! A monster!
Bruce had recorded a video!
Was he trying to drive her mother to her grave?
“Mom, don’t think like that, please. I’ll find a way to get that video and destroy it. Just don’t dwell on it,” Thalassa said, squeezing
Evelyn’s hand, trying to comfort her.
She was terrified of Evelyn giving up hope.
“We’re moving out tonight. We can’t stay here any longer,” Thalassa said with a pained voice, tears brimming in her eyes.
She was grateful that her mother’s hand, still warm in hers, was alive.
Evelyn turned her gaze away, not wanting to see the worry and pain on Thalassa’s face, and silently let her tears fall.
They had both been through too much sorrow.
That very night, Thalassa began packing some clothes and left the Vibrant Oasis Residences with Evelyn.
They took a taxi to the Central Ring Villa and found the house. Opening the door, they were greeted by the luxurious
atmosphere.
Evelyn, who was astonished, asked, “Thalassa, where did this house come from? This must cost a fortune.”
Wanting to ease her mother’s worries, Thalassa said, “It’s assigned to me by the company. As long as I keep working at the
Crawley Group, we can stay here.”
She couldn’t tell Evelyn that the house had been prepared for her by Leopold before he passed away.
“Why haven’t I heard before that your company would provide you with accommodation?” Evelyn was still concerned.
Thalassa replied, “I hadn’t requested it before. I applied a few days ago, and it got approved today.”
“Is that so? Well, that’s a relief,” Evelyn said, nodding, her anxiety easing as she walked in to explore the place.
The villa was two stories high, with a living area on the first floor and bedrooms on the second, although there were also rooms
on the first floor.
Evelyn chose the room near the living room on the ground floor and said to Thalassa, “I’ll take this one. I need a shower.”
As she spoke, her eyes fell, and a blush of embarrassment crept up her cheeks.
“Mom, if there’s something you need, just tell me,” Thalassa urged, sensing Evelyn’s difficulty in voicing her request.
After a brief pause and a thought, Evelyn whispered, “Could you... could you pick up a pack of birth control pills for me?”
A sharp pain pierced Thalassa’s heart.
