Emily's eyes reddened with sadness and guilt.

If now is the time for Adam and Sophia to get what they deserve, so be it. We must all pay for what we've done, don't we?
"Besides, the problems in Adam's company weren't made up. Someone exposed it in the newspapers, which means it was true. Don't worry, Emily. I'm fine. I always knew that the man I loved was far from ideal. If he's guilty of something, I'll wait for him to mend his faults. If he has to serve time in prison, I'll wait for him to come out.
