Jason sidled up to Corinne and said innocently, "But I did that for you. I mean, in
all the three years he's been missing, he's with another woman all along! So you can't lose too, Corinne. Won't it be better if you have a boyfriend by your side too?"
Corinne's lips twitched. She then said sarcastically, "You have my thanks, then."
She then pulled open the car door and got in.
Jason knew he was not welcome there, so he quickly strode over to the other side of the car and got in front there. He was afraid she would leave him there if he was not fast enough.
The driver immediately started the engine and drove the car away after that.
Jason saw Corinne typing on her phone. 'She must be texting someone.' He had always been very insightful, so after thinking about it, he finally understood what was going on.
His eyes widened as he said, "Corinne, were you faking it just then? You've already met with Jeremy before this, haven't you?"
Corinne was so focused on her phone that she did not even look up when she said, "Pipe down, and be quiet."
Pigs would fly before Jason would be quiet. "I must say, Corinne, you're a really good actress. You even got me fooled!"
Corinne ignored him, prompting him to move closer to her so he could find out what she was doing on her phone. She just happened to send a message, and she quickly locked her phone before turning to glare at him. "What do you think you're doing?"
Jason smirked and said, "Corinne, I'm really curious as to what game you and Jeremy are up to. He was the one who told me I should take you away, then you acted so calmly after he left. Are you two in cahoots?"
Corinne glanced at him unhappily. "Did you really accuse me of colluding with Jeremy? Don't you think that's inappropriate? Colluding is only when two people cooperate secretly or unlawfully to deceive or gain an advantage over others. Is that how you see me? As a bad person?"
Jason smiled. "Yes, you're a very bad person! You kept on breaking my heart."
Corinne was speechless. She was sure they would never have a decent conversation.
Jason moved closer to her again. "Come one, Corinne. Don't be like that. Tell me what's going on. Why did you pretend it was the first time seeing Jeremy when you'd obviously seen him before?" Corinne could not be bothered to explain to him.
Meanwhile, in the RV, Jeremy was resting in his wheelchair with his eyes closed. Sophia kept glancing at him nervously from time to time. There were no signs to say he knew Corinne, yet Sophia could not shake off the feeling something was not right.
"Ahem! Zachary, what did you and Mister Jason talk about just now?" she asked.
"This and that," answered Jeremy with his eyes still closed.
Sophia trembled as she asked anxiously, "What exactly is that?"
"He told me we used to be friends, and he never stopped worrying about me in all the three years I've been missing."
Sophia took a deep breath. "Anything else?"
