"It's been several days since we last saw each other. Don't you have any desire to see me?"
Lucas stared straight at Melody, who had not lifted her head since he entered the room. When she heard him ask such shameless questions, she trembled with anger.
'How dare he ask if I missed him? He was cozying up to Thalia last night, and today he's here to cozy up to me too? Does he think he can get both of us?' Melody, filled with rage, lifted her head and locked eyes with Lucas in the mirror. "This is the first time I have seen you this shameless, Lucas. Even though we only have a contractual relationship, please show some respect. I'm not the kind of woman you think I am. If you insist on behaving like this, I'll have to terminate our contract early!"
Lucas frowned, not understanding what Melody was saying, but he got the gist of it. Melody had the intention to end their relationship. Angered, he grabbed Melody's chin roughly, forcing her to turn her head back.
"What did you say? I dare you to repeat what you just said. Don't you think you're being too cocky? I've paid off all your debts, and now you want to go back to being a high and mighty actress. What do you take me for? A fool for you to play with?"
Lucas was furious. He sneered at Melody. "If I were you, I'd face reality instead of being so indecisive. Why don't you just go back to living your pathetic life if you want to protect your pride?"
Melody had closed her eyes in agony when Lucas began his hurtful tirade. She blinked repeatedly, but her eyes remained shut, not wanting to face this version of Lucas. She felt her eyelashes dampen slightly. As Lucas took a step back, he realized he had accidentally said too many hurtful things. He lost control of his emotions the moment he heard Melody wanted to leave him. He did not know what came over him. "You don't need to remind me repeatedly how much I owe you. I'm perfectly well aware of that. The income from this film will likely cover a portion of it. Rest assured, I'll transfer the money to your account as soon as the filming wraps up. Then you won't ever have to worry about me not paying back the debt or bothering you," replied Melody.
Melody kept her head down, her tone sounding somewhat relaxed, while Lucas's brows remained furrowed tightly. He did not come to hear these words from Melody, but he had already slipped up, and he could not bring himself to swallow his pride and console her.
After all, it was Melody who kept expressing her desire to leave him!
