After hearing that, Melody also found it strange. "Unfortunately, Miss Thalia quickly deleted the photo. If I had kept it, you might have been able to tell if it was taken that day."
Beatrice patted the back of Melody's hand. "Melody, I know you've been feeling upset and keeping it to yourself. It must have been difficult without anyone to comfort you. You silly child, why didn't you tell me earlier? At least I could've told you what happened that day."
Once again, Melody was so touched by Beatrice's concern for her that she started crying.
When her parents mistreated her, she had never been comforted the same way. Whenever Wendy faced injustices at school, she would lock herself in her room as she got home. That was when their mother would gently knock on her door.
Despite Wendy's impatience and insistence that Helen leave her alone, Helen would still knock on the door and ask her what had happened. She reassured Wendy that she would never have to endure such mistreatment again with her and Ethan's support.
Melody would always feel envious whenever she saw that happening. Their family had moved several times, and each time, their school changed too. Although Melody encountered mostly friendly people, there were still moments when she was bullied.
She vaguely remembered one instance when she had just arrived at a new school and had just introduced herself to the whole class. As she walked to the seat assigned by the teacher and sat down, the girl behind her maliciously pulled out her chair, causing her to fall to the ground in front of everyone.
Everyone laughed, and Melody's face gradually turned red under the gaze of strangers. Not a single person came to her aid, not even the teacher who had just escorted her in, who only looked on indifferently. Melody had no choice but to stand up silently, brush off the dust from her clothes and retrieve her own chair. Melody could have endured it if it had been just one person bullying her, knowing that she might transfer schools again in less than a semester.
However, the whole class bullied her, causing her to feel suffocated as soon as she entered the classroom. What used to be the highlight of her day, going to school, had turned into torment for Melody. However, she would be scolded by her family whenever she expressed her desire to stop attending that particular school.
Melody had once mentioned at the dinner table that she wanted to transfer schools. Ethan immediately frowned while Helen slammed her cutleries down.
