"Aren't you curious about what I said to Christopher when I rushed onto his plane?" Bella held back for a while before asking.
Justin's lips curled slightly. "Why? Are you afraid I'll get jealous?"
"Pfft, if you got jealous of someone like him, you'd be insulting me!" Bella jabbed her finger forcefully into his chest.
"Well, way before this... I really went crazy with jealousy when I saw you two together." Justin's eyes reddened, and he held her
hand, planting a warm kiss on her palm.
"I know. It was so obvious. I'm not blind, so I noticed."
Bella pursed her lips, a hint of subtle grievance shining through her expression. "But at that time, we had just divorced, and I was
so angry whenever I saw you. Seeing you upset actually made me feel a bit relieved. I thought I was different from other women.
I thought I could move on easily after the divorce. But later, I realized that the satisfaction I felt from seeing you upset didn't come
from a sense of revenge. It was because I always felt like you still cared about me."
After thirteen years of pursuit, secret admiration, and infatuation, no one would be able to control their heart's desires. It was
impossible to simply switch off love.
Justin's breathing suddenly became heavy. An infinite bitterness surged through his veins and churned in his chest.
He fiercely choked back on the sentence he had been brewing in his heart for a long while, the one that even made him wake up
from his dreams when he dreamt of it. He wanted to remarry her, but did he still have the right to do so?
Did he still have the right to be her husband again?
"I've always cared about you." Justin murmured, his voice trembling. Then he choked up, unable to say another word.
Bella also felt like she had touched on a sensitive topic, so she changed the subject. "Actually, I didn't say much to Christopher. I
just vented my anger."
"Sometimes, venting does you good, too."
"I really don't understand what he went through during those fifteen years in Sentania. I wonder who he met and who shaped him
into someone like this."
Bella recalled Christopher's manic
smile and shook her head
l.ne
repeatedly. "He wasn't like this before. I remember when we were kids, we snuck out to play and encountered a snake. Although
he was even more scared than me, he bravely stood before me, trembling, and drove the snake away. There were many
instances like that... He was kind when we were young."
"I've looked into his family situation before. The reason why he holds such hostility toward the Iversons probably stems from his
mother."
Justin placed his arm around Bella's
shoulder and continued slowly, "Mrs. Iverson has always been in an awkward position in the Iverson family. None of the older
three children are hers biologically, and even as a stepmother, she still treads on thin ice in the Iverson household. Back then,
Christopher was still too young. And as you know, he was quite fragile back then, incapable of protecting his mother. Mrs.
Iverson was also honest and unpretentious. This often led to the marginalization of the mother-son duo in the Iverson
household."
Bella nodded slowly.
She was somewhat familiar with the situation in the Iverson family, having heard plenty of gossip from Wyatt and Mila in the past.
"I've also heard that Mrs. Iverson fell out of favor with Lance due to an alleged affair with one of his bodyguards."
Bella was shocked. "What? That's impossible! I remember meeting Mrs. Iverson when I was younger. She was always so gentle
and devoted to Mr. Iverson. How could she possibly cheat on him with a bodyguard?"
"Well, that's why there might be something fishy going on here."
Justin's brows furrowed slightly. "Although Mr Iverson may still be unaware of this matter, it is intricately connected to the three
other Iversons. Don't you think fact that the bodyguard involved in the affair is now overseas, surveillance by James' men,
sounds fishy?"
