"Not at all! Don't you ever think that, Steve! I feel happy when I'm with you. You never let me down." Amelia cupped Steven's
tear-stained face, her eyes welling up. Every teardrop left a mark on her.
Steven was a strong man, and no one knew that fact more than Amelia. Steven had worked long and hard with Justin and Bella,
paving the way for them.
Yet today, Steven hid in the kitchen to cry because of Amelia.
It must take a lot for Steve to strip away his pride and ditch his armor to dwell in sadness.
Steven lowered his drenched lashes, his voice carrying agony. "You're an heiress of the Thompsons, Amelia. You're a princess
to Chairman Thompson and Madam Celeste. Mr. Asher and Ms. Bella adore you. I watched you grow. You were carefree when
you followed Ms. Bella around with a lollipop. I can remember the moments like they were yesterday. You would live a happy life
if it weren't for me. My family and I destroyed your happiness."
Amelia shook her head in tears.
Her worst fear was Steven jumping down a rabbit hole of his thoughts.
Steven choked with sobs and gnashed his teeth. "When you were insulted today, I wished I could—”
Amelia got on her tiptoes and sealed his lips. Closing her eyes, she immersed herself in the kiss.
Steven breathed ruggedly, his eyes half-closed and his chest heaving against hers. Her assets were perky and round under the
thin layer of a shirt.
Lust quickly took over.
Gurgle... Gurgle...
The boiling milk in the pot disrupted their intimate moment.
"Hm... The milk will evaporate if you don't turn off the stove soon, Steve." Rosy-cheeked, Amelia caught her breath in his arms.
As reality came back to him, Steven turned off the flames in a flurry and wiped the stove clean.
Once done, he steadied his breath and smiled wryly. "Look, I can't even do the simplest things right."
"No, you're the perfect man to me."
Amelia threw herself in his embrace and held his waist. "Always remember that you are important to me, Steve I won't allow you
to put yourself down. I don't want to hear another word about you ruining me. I have a temper. I'm scary when I'm mad."
While talking, Amelia pouted her luscious lips. The angry look on her face swept the blues away, and Steven curled his lips.
Amelia turned somber. "My family brought me happiness in the past, but together, we'll create our future happiness. Don't feel
like you let me down. Life has its ups and downs, and no relationship is perfect.
"My sisters and I are the apple of Dad's eye, but we all went through highs and lows of relationships. Camilla, who is the First
Lady now, had gone through a lot to be with Edward. My family didn't like that Edward was a lot older and poor in health. Camilla
went to a foreign land and was kept on her toes for Edward's political campaign. Dad and Aunt Mila even made things difficult for
them."
Steven heard a little about Camilla's love story from Bella.
"But nothing stopped them from being together. It turned out that Camilla was right to persist. Edward is a good husband for her.
They pulled through the hardships and could not be happier in their marriage." Amelia looked up and met his eyes.
"You will be good to me too, right? You will make me happy just as my sisters are happy in their relationships, right?"
Steven planted his lips on her cheek.
Yes, she got him. She took him by his heart, mind, and soul.
"I promise this is the last time, Amelia. I won't ever put you through what happened today."
