Coral trembled with fear.
"Besides, do you know how much it costs to get a kidney transplant? Your dad was still useful to me when he was a Chief
Prosecutor, so I would save him as an investment back then. Now, he's just an old man on the brink of death. Why would I waste
money and effort to save a person who doesn't have much longer to live? I'm not bored out of my mind."
James withdrew his disdainful gaze and sneered. "If your dad can wait, let him wait. If he can't, then he can only blame his fate!"
After the man left, Coral helplessly collapsed on the floor, covering her face as she cried bitterly.
In the evening, Coral changed into a low-profile outfit and went to visit her father at the hospital.
She covered herself thoroughly from head to toe, afraid her father would see any of her injuries.
Her father was so weak that it was difficult for him to speak, but he still tried his best to ask her not to worry about him. He knew
Coral had a miserable life after marrying into a wealthy family. If it were not for the Iversons, their family would have been in
ruins. His eldest son still had a job because of the Iversons, and he did not dare to ask for anything more.
Coral agreed on the surface, but when she went out to fetch hot water, she sat on a bench in the corridor and wept
uncontrollably.
The doctor said he had a month left.
A kidney transplant was their last chance, but the surgery still had a high failure rate. Although her father insisted that she give
up, she could not do it. Coral wanted him to live, not only because she was his daughter. He was also the only motivation for her
to keep going.
If her father was not here anymore, her reason for living with the Iverson family would be gone as well.
At this moment, a steady footstep from leather shoes, accompanied by a crisp and elegant sound of high heels, walked toward
her. "Ms. Jones."
What a clear and pleasant voice.
Coral slowly raised her eyes, swollen from the crying, and her pupils contracted with shock.
The breathtaking figures standing before her were Bella and Justin!
She was sitting, and Bella stood, but Bella did not have an air of superiority. She wore a friendly smile, dignified yet
approachable.
Beside her, Justin had his arm around her waist, still looking as handsome as ever. His figure was upright and imposing.
It was incomparable.
Throughout the entire Iverson
family, even Lance's current favorite, Christopher; could not compare to this man. Although Christopher was just as good-
looking, his presence was nowhere as powerful as Justin's.
This might be what people meant when they said clothes could not make a man.
A true leader should be someone like Justin, and only Bella could match him, making them a perfect couple.
"Mr. Salvador, Ms. Thompson, why would you..." Coral was dumbfounded.
Bella was not in a hurry to express her intentions. Instead, she sat beside Coral, like they were good friends.
"Chief Prosecutor Jones has been staying here for quite some time, right?"
Upon hearing the long-forgotten title, Coral lowered her head dejectedly. "My father has long since retired. I've not heard anyone
call him that for a long time."
Bella smiled casually. "Although
Chief Prosecutor Jones has retired, his honorable deeds still spread in Savrow's judicial system. My second brother is a
prosecutor. When he was still studying, Chief Prosecutor Jones was his lecturer. My brother admired him a lot back then."
"Ms. Bella, my father is not as great as you described."
Coral clenched the fabric of her dress, wrinkling it, her eyes red. "Also, you wouldn't talk to me without a purpose. You must be
here because of the Iverson Group, and it likely has something to do with my husband. I'm sorry, but we stand on different sides.
I belong to the Iverson family and would never do anything to betray them. You don't need to say anything. Please leave."
Justin's brows furrowed slightly, seemingly hesitant to speak as he looked at Bella.
Even the mighty Mr. Salvador needed his wife's approval to speak. He was indeed fearful of Bella.
Bella nodded her head in silence. Justin then handed over the document he held to Coral.
"This is..."
"Ms. Jones, there's no rush to take a stand. Why don't you look at this first?" Bella was unruffled and smiled serenely.
