Bella and Justin were utterly astonished and hurriedly helped Coral up from the ground. "Ms. Jones, please get up! Please don't
do this!"
Seeing his sister in such a state, Jerell was heartbroken. He teared up as he helped her up as well.
"Ms. Thompson... Thank you... Thank you..."
Coral sobbed uncontrollably, her words barely coherent. "I'll repay the kindness you've shown to my father with my life.....”
Bella gently shook her head. "You don't need to repay me anything. I just hope that you'll be completely free from James and the
Iverson family."
Later, they transferred Coral's father to a VIP ward for further observation.
In the adjacent lounge, the Jones siblings sat facing Bella and Justin.
Coral lowered her eyes, trembling as she slowly rolled up her sleeves.
Seeing the dense scars on her arms, Jerell felt as if lightning had struck him. He then hugged his sister and wept.
"It's alright, Jerell. It's all in the past now." Coral comforted him with a relieved smile.
With their father's surgery now successful, she had no more concerns and was ready to move forward.
She had chosen to step out of the darkness and into the light.
Coral took out a brown envelope and placed it on the table. "Inside this envelope are some of the evidence I've gathered of
James embezzling company funds, bribing officials, and using the Iverson's Bright Future Education Foundation for money
laundering."
Jerell's expression was heavy with anger. "I can testify to that. I work in the Iverson Group's legal department, and James has
repeatedly asked me to exploit legal loopholes and embezzle public funds for his personal gain. He even abused my sister...
Even if I end up in prison and get my reputation ruined, I'll stand up and testify against his crimes to get justice for my sister!"
"Jerell..." Coral choked up, feeling a mix of emotions.
However, she knew that with the Jones and Iversons being in-laws, this fierce battle would inevitably lead to mutual destruction.
Justin and Bella focused intently on the evidence. The couple's serious demeanor and synchronized pace of flipping through the
documents showed just how much they were in sync. "Actually, James once tried to kill someone to silence them."
The couple was shocked. "Who did he try to kill?!"
"Previously, the police suspected that Charles raped underage girls. One of the girls, Rachel Mead, wanted to come forward and
testify against him: Back then, to protect Charles, James bribed Charles'. subordinates to attempt to kill Ms. Mead while Charles
was in custody. James wasn't truly trying to help his brother either. He was simply trying to get into Lance's favor. By using
Charles' men, he intended to shift the blame onto Charles if things went south, allowing himself to escape unscathed."
Although Bella and Justin had already considered this possibility when the incident occurred, hearing Coral's firsthand account
left them shocked and emotionally stirred.
With tears in her eyes, Coral shook her head in guilt and helplessness. "Back then... I was right there. I heard James brazenly
plot the murder of an innocent young girl. Yet, I had no power to stop him. If I ever dared to ask a question, he would beat me
mercilessly..."
"Ms. Jones, you don't need to blame yourself for this."
Bella held Coral's hand firmly, without a trace of reproach. "Rachel was a victim, and so were you. Despite being trapped in the
darkness, you did your best to protect yourself and your family. You've done incredibly well, if I were in your position, I might not
have lasted as long."
"But too bad... I didn't record what he said at the time," Coral said regretfully.
"Even if you had, it wouldn't have been really useful."
Justin set down the documents in his hand. His eyes were dark with contemplation as he calmly analyzed the situation. "Firstly,
secretly recorded evidence isn't admissible in court. Secondly, Ms. Mead is currently safe and sound. So, James could even turn
the tables and accuse you of slander and defamation. Another issue is the power of these pieces of evidence.
"For James, the eldest son of the Iverson family, who owns one of the four major conglomerates, these pieces of evidence aren't
strong enough to cause any damage to him. Despite Lance's current favoritism toward Christopher, he wouldn't easily abandon
his eldest son.
"No matter what happens, Lance will protect James. While these pieces of evidence could convict him, it might only be a
formality. With their top legal team, James could be out of prison in less than two years.
