“Why you” Frustrated, Gilbert said with resignation, “fine. Fine! I won’t make you if you don’t want to get
married.”
Still, he felt slightly disappointed as he would miss the opportunity to absorb the Lowes‘ resources if the engagement was called

“What?! Are you saying that I don’t have to marry Jacob Lowe? Am I hearing you right?!” Iris gasped in disbelief.
“You heard me right! Your mom passed away at a young age and I haven’t been able to fulfill my responsibility as your father.
You have sold the company your grandfather gave you for the Youngs and if I force you to marry Jacob Lowe after all that you’ve
sacrificed, I’ll have no right to call myself a father!” Gilbert sighed.

Iris was his daughter after all and if she refused to get married, he could not possibly force her into it for his own gain.
“Really? I’m so glad! Dad, you aren’t lying to me, are you?” Overjoyed, the lights returned in Iris’s eyes, but she still struggled to
believe her father after all that he did in the past.
“Of course not! I only agree to the engagement so that I can manipulate the Lowes into helping us. Now that the Young Group
has stabilized, Harold Lowe won’t be able to do much even if I break my promise once l become the leader!” Gilbert grinned
confidently as though he already had Harold wrapped in the palm of his hand.
Harold was merely a Semi–Overlord and the Youngs had numerous martial artists in the Semi–Overlord State or above at their
disposal, so Gilbert was not at all concerned that Harold would be able to hurt them.
“I see! I will trust you one last time and if it turns out that you are lying to me, I’ll resent you for the rest of my life!” Iris smiled
gleefully, feeling relieved that her father did not betray her for his own gain.
